Chapter 6 You Owe Me

Evangeline's POV

The car rolled in front of the restaurant and stopped, and I was wearing a golden, glittering dress. I stepped down and strolled in with a confidence I barely knew where I got it from. There were armed men everywhere.

My heart thrummed in my chest, and my steps almost faltered, but I made it to a seat. At this angle, I was facing Nico’s table directly.

I locked eyes with him instantly, and I swallowed, not because it suddenly felt so hot in the room, but because of the men he was with. Their meeting seemed intense, none was smiling, they were just in their corner, causing silent chaos.

An even bigger chaos formed in my head. Nico was staring, but it wasn't a stare of familiarity. It was a stare of…conflicted thoughts. Like he was pretending to figure out who I was and failing for a good minute?

I had to look away as his eyes taunted me, and I couldn't take it. He made me feel things I'm not sure I wanted to feel.

I couldn't afford to feel them.

Just then a waiter approached my table and after giving him my order, I resumed subtly staring at that table. It reeked of superficial testosterone.

Nico wasn't looking at me anymore, unfortunately. I'm guessing he was planning to fuck me over and demand shit from me in public, just because he could.

And I might've just been right because just then, my eyes dragged upwards, noticing the figure approaching my table. Nico.

My body trembled involuntarily.

The man was so fucking long, probably the tallest man ever, and he thrilled me so damn much. I still can't believe he's been inside me before, like how did I get so lucky?

Was I so deep in my thoughts, I barely noticed him until now? My fingers shook but I tried to hold it together, terrified of what he was about to do, but then he proceeded to shock me.

He towered over me, and out of his mouth came words that made my skin ignite.

“It's you, Gia. Pleasure running into you here.” He wore a charming smile.

Wow. I had no words, like I was completely in shock. He came to humor me, leaving his meeting? What?

Was he…playing along like I begged previously? I blinked severally, until he spoke again, and I finally came to terms with the fact that it was real and was happening.

“Or, I have the wrong woman?”

“No, you're right, Mr…?” I immediately accepted the invitation, acting like I barely remembered him just to rile him up a bit.

Nico seemed taken aback for a moment, like he didn't expect me to pretend to be that nonchalant. A rumble made it out of his throat, and a smile tugged at his lips. He was amused.

“Moretti. Doesn't it ring a bell? No?”

“Wait a second. Oh yeah, the bad sex. Yeah, I remember you now.” I nodded like I was truly starting to remember.

Nico almost choked on nothing, but he stood tall again after his fake short moment of humiliation. We both knew he was far from bad sex. I was tempted to call him correctional, healing or even healthy sex. God, I still felt him. What did I even scrub off earlier? I'm such a joke.

“You have some guts, don't you? Aren't you scared?”

I rolled my eyes dramatically at his poor attempt at intimidation. All it did was turn me on.

“What do you want? As you can see, I'm going to have my meal any minute now. It seems your friends are waiting for you.”

He looked over his shoulder to check and smiled back at me.

“This is weirdly refreshing. I think you should let me prove you wrong again in that department, Gia.”

The desperate-for-a-second-sex-ploy. Antonio would be so proud of my progress.

“No thanks. Excuse me.” Just then the waiter brought my meal.

“Put it on my tab.” Nico ordered as the waiter was about to walk away, and he nodded his head in response. A smile stretched my lips as we stared at each other. I was so grateful that he wasn't going to let me die today.

He eventually left my table and went back to his. He watched me the whole time and after a while, my phone lit up with a message from him.

“Now you owe me, apart from the blackmail. You owe me.”

I raised my head to glare at him but I caught his wide smirk. Jesus, I forgot how to act. While it was hot, it sent a sick psychotic meaning. I punched the letters on my keyboard and texted right back, agreeing.

After my meal, the men started walking out of the restaurant one by one, tall and scary.

Some stole glances at me for a second like they were trying to figure out why Nico left their meeting to bother me for over ten minutes. Everyone knew it was unlike him. I just knew he was going to demand for something outrageous as payback.

I stared right back at each and everyone of them that stared, acting fearless in a way that made me cringe. I still had no idea if I was under his protection or not.

He was the last at the table, and we maintained heavy eye contact. He wasn't hiding how sexually attracted he was to me, he was beyond shameless. Finally, he stood up again and walked towards me.

When he arrived, he stood beside me, lowered his head and whispered into my ears.

“You will let me fuck you again. I paid for your meal. Get up and follow me.”

My body tingled in delight.

God help me. I'd absolutely let him do whatever he wanted to me. He didn't wait for my response. I'm not even sure he was interested in a negative response, he just walked out of the restaurant after paying, and I was to follow suit.

My legs dragged my body all the way to the door, and all the way to the backs

eat of his car with him. It felt like I could breathe again because of a job well done.
