Chapter 6

"I asked and got no answer," Jay said in a cold tone, folding his arms across his chest.

"It’s none of your business," I hissed like a cat and returned my gaze to the blond man. His eyebrows rose up in surprise, and his eyes widened. He tensed his muscles, holding himself back.

"Daring? I'm afraid your boldness will go away as soon as you find out what I do to people like you."

A scream came from the hallway and we both instinctively turned our heads there.

"Dean, you can't!" Some girl yells.

"Damn it," Jay growls and walks out of the room.

I get up off the couch and walk over to the door, opening it slightly. The guys are saying something to each other and the girl is running around next to them. Jay yells at her and she runs away. Dean grabs the blond man by his shirt and says something. I strain my hearing trying to hear something.

"You can't put him away! What reason are you doing this? He’s been in our group for so many years!" The blond sharply pulls the man's hands away from him.

"I can, he's a snitch. He’s giving up all our plans!"

"Not ours, yours," Dean quips and walks away, leaving the blue-eyed man alone.

The guy turns around and his gaze lands on me. I slam the door and quickly sit down on the couch.

"Get out," the guy sighs as soon as he walks in and sits down in his chair, turning away from the window.

I awkwardly get up and walk out of the room. Joe is already standing outside the doors. He takes me by the elbow and leads me out. Still as silent and without further ado. In one of the rooms I hear guys laughing. I stop and take a deep breath.

"Let’s go," the guy pulls me along, but I remain in the same state of mind.

All that darkness flashed in my eyes. The fear and the lack of light. Laughter and silence. The touches and whispers. Jay's gaze and power.

"Come on, Dean. Do it and I'll jump," the guy laughs, making me flinch.

"No, don’t," I open my eyes and look around, realizing there’s nothing there.

"What? Come on," the guy yanks me and I give in.

We go outside and before we can get out, security comes running up to us. "Joe, take her to Laura. She and Jay are on their way to the casino."

"But Laura..." the guy doesn’t get a chance to answer before he’s interrupted.

"His orders."

Joe nods and the guards step aside. What was he going to say about Laura?

"What casino, what Laura, and why do I have to go?"

We go to the right building. There are so many buildings here. I would call the whole thing a little town of darkness.  It's always dark here. Darkness keeps a lot of secrets from coming out.

Joe led me into the enclosure and took me to a room, staying outside the doors. There was a blonde woman standing by the mirror. She gently ran lipstick over her plump lips and turned in my direction. Her eyes scanned me piercingly, and soon the girl shook her head in displeasure.

"You're a girl, not a guy. Look at how I’m dressed and how you’re dressed." She tossed her hair and walked to the closet.

She didn't seem happy to see me. It’s mutual, though. She pulled out two shiny short rags and handed them into my hands.

"What are these?" I squeamishly picked up the thing and examined it.

"They’re dresses. I think they’ll fit you."

"They’re too short. In fact, I’m going to go like this. I'm not going to dress up for anyone."

The girl walked over to me and clutched her fingernails into my hand. She bent down to my ear and growled: "You’re going to wear this. And I don't care what you think, sweetheart. Jay entrusted you to me and that means I’ll be in charge of you."

"I’m not a thing," I shoved Laura away from me and rubbed my hand. Her grip left small red nail marks on my body.

"I think you got me," the blonde snorted and adjusted her breasts in a dress that almost gave me a view of her ass, what to speak of her bust.

A grimace of displeasure appeared on my face, and I turned away so I wouldn’t have to look at the girl pumped full of silicone.

"Didn’t you hear me right? Get dressed," Laura growled and opened the nightstand and pulled out the hair tongs.

"I won’t," I mouthed every word, trying to show my attitude.

"Okay," the blonde got up from her chair and walked over to me.

She took the dresses from my hands and placed them on the bed.

Before I could exhale, she turned to face me and grabbed my T-shirt, pulling it apart. The fabric came apart with a snap, and now I was wearing two rags. "What did you do?!" I shouted, examining my appearance.

"I’m sorry," the blonde pouted her silicone lips and smirked as she examined my body. "The bust is a little small. Let's put a push-up bra on you."

My heart pounded faster, giving me a rapid rhythm. With my jaw clenched, my palm of my hand met her painted face.

"Bitch," she hissed like a snake and slapped me, scratching my cheek with her fingernails.

I walked over to the girl and clawed at her hair, winding it around my fist. Laura whimpered, grabbing at her blonde locks, afraid I’d rip them off.

"Don't you dare touch me, whore," a growl escaped my throat, giving away the threat.

The blonde twisted around and grabbed my shoulder, digging her nails into the soft skin.

"Don’t think that if you walk under Jay, you’re a queen. You're a pawn honey."

I pulled harder on her hair harder and when the girl didn’t keep her balance, I shoved her off. Laura fell to the floor, whimpering in pain.

"Is someone jealous?" I laughed, squatting down next to her.

"Don’t get your hopes up." Laura grabbed my arms and pulled me toward her. I fell down, and the girl sat on top of me, not giving me a chance to move. "You’ll get nothing. Of all the girls, I'm his favorite. He invites me to his room every day."

"Poor guy."

In a split second, the girl swung around and punched me in the jaw. My anger became uncontrollable. In the blink of an eye, I flipped her over and grabbed the vase and swung it at her, ignoring her screams, but my hand didn’t budge. My eyebrows narrowed and I looked over to where the blonde man was looking. I turned around and my anger vanished in a flash. Jay was holding my wrist, studying the situation with his blue eyes.

"She was going to kill me, Jay!" Laura screamed and started to lash out.

I wrenched my arm out of his grip and got to my feet. The guy put the vase back and sat down on the bed.

"Joe! Get the first aid kit!" Shouted the man.

I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. My body felt really hot with anger mixed with adrenaline in my blood. Inhale in and exhale and I try to calm my breathing. I can feel the intense gaze on me, which is literally watching my every move I make.

"Jay!" Laura shouted, and my calm was over. Her squeaky voice penetrated every cell in my body, bringing me from relaxation back to reality. "Jay, she wanted to kill me!"

I opened my eyes and all the things I wanted to keep in my head came rushing out: "Shut up! You’re annoying everyone with your squeaky voice! Your place is really only under the guys! And that’s the only place you should be moaning and screaming! Don't you dare pretend to be a decent girl!"

I stopped, gasping for air. "Next time you’ll think twice before messing with me," I whispered, leaning against the closet.

The girl opened her mouth in astonishment, and a smirk appeared on James's face.

"I brought it," said Joe, who had just entered the room.

"Good. Wait outside the door," the guy put the first aid kit next to Jay and walked out.

"Jay!" The blonde woman screamed when she saw him coming toward me.

"Shut up!" The guy barked and turned back to me again.

He walked past her, walking over to the bollard. Opening the first aid kit, he pulled out some disinfectant and poured it onto a cotton ball. He came up to me and took hold of my jaw and turned my face in profile, applying the absorbent cotton to my cheek. My cheek pinched and I winced, trying to pull his hand away, but he shushed me and I gave in.
