The ground was still trembling beneath me, the echoes of the shadowed figure's presence lingering like a bitter chill in the air. I stumbled backward, my legs threatening to give way beneath me. My breath came in sharp gasps, each inhale a struggle as though I was drowning in the weight of it all.
