I let it ring twice and then I answered it.

"Junie."

"Yeah."

She didn't say anything for a while. I could hear a TV going and one of the kids asking for something.

"Dot called me," she said.

"Okay."

"What's going to happen to my kids?"

"I don't know."

"They ask about you. Rowan asked Sunday ...
