Chapter 6
Burgess Jars has no intention of trying to regain his footing right now. Everyone he brought with him has died in a pool of blood. Even Roxanne Cypania, who was somewhat related to him, has fled far away by now.
Left him isolated and helpless for a while.
“Misunderstanding! Misunderstanding!”
Where would Burgess Jars dare to act arrogantly now? Mel Duncan wasn’t even polite. He grabbed Burgess Jars by the collar, threw him in front of Mandy March, and then asked, “Mage, what should we do with this man?”
Mandy March didn’t even look at him. She simply asked, “Do you have a lot of money?”
Burgess Jars replied quickly.
“My Jars Group doesn’t have much else, but we’ve got plenty of money!”
“Alright, then write me an IOU with your address and contact information. I’ll come pick it up at your place later!”
Hearing this, Burgess Jars was overjoyed once again.
He kept nodding his head and began to write down the IOU. As for the numbers on it, he simply didn’t care to pay attention to them.
What I was thinking was that, on my own, I certainly couldn’t deal with him. Those bodyguards might be able to take care of some minor troublemakers, but they’re not strong enough to handle someone like Mel Duncan, who’s a trained fighter.
The Jars family’s mansion.
“Damn you!”
The middle-aged man slammed the table hard and said, “This is completely outrageous! Who exactly is this kid? Find out who he is right away! Investigate thoroughly!”
“I’ve found out who he is. I’m going to kill him and make sure he never appears in Wales again!”
The middle-aged man had an extremely vicious expression on his face. The scar on his face seemed to be about to split open.
“Dad, you really need to be careful with that bodyguard of the kid’s. He single-handedly killed all four of my men!”
“Your so-called ‘Four Great Warriors’ are only good enough to deal with street thugs. When it comes to actual battles between trained fighters, they’re completely useless—it’s like trying to hit a rock with an egg.”
They were only worried about Mel Duncan’s formidable skills, but they failed to realize that Mandy March, who was by Mel Duncan’s side, could send them straight to hell.
On the table lay that IOU as well. The numbers written on it were simply astronomical in scale.
One hundred million.
Even for their Jars Group, although the total assets amount to over 10 billion, the actual amount of cash on hand is less than 30 million. After all, many of the group’s businesses require investment.
The father and son completely ignored this IOU. In fact, they had even set up various traps in their own room and contacted people from the underground world of Wales City.
These people lead a life of extreme danger and violence. A human life is valued by them in terms of hundreds of millions of yuan.
“Dad, isn’t it a bit excessive to spend ten million to hire a killer?”
Angelo Jares, however, said, “Burgess, if none of these killers can kill Mel Duncan, what does that prove?”
“Then aren’t we done for?”
“A killer never betrays their client!”
According to Angelo Jares, someone as ruthless as Mel Duncan surely had many enemies. It’s not unusual for him to be assassinated.
If they can hold off these killers, then it proves that Mel Duncan is definitely someone who can be utilized effectively.
“Either Mel Duncan dies, or Mel Duncan becomes my tool! So, there’s really no way this plan can fail!”
Although Burgess Jakes thought so in his heart, he still felt quite scared.
“Dad, what if I get caught?”
In his heart, he was still quite worried about this matter.
“If we can kill them, that would be good. But if we can’t kill them, then Mel Duncan becomes a truly terrifying figure.”
Burgess Jars felt a cool breeze blowing against his back. He didn’t dare think further—that he and his son had also engaged in such despicable acts in the past!
Over here, as Mandy March arrived at the entrance of the Jars family’s mansion, she saw a police car parked there. Then, there was also Roy Duncan, the beautiful woman she had met earlier. Now, she was wearing a police uniform that fit her body perfectly.
Several male officers were also following behind her, constantly trying to flatter her. This made Mandy March feel displeased.
Although they haven’t gotten married officially yet, according to that old man, isn’t she his wife anyway?
The money from the Burgess Jars family can be picked up later. It doesn’t matter.
Then, he opened WeChat’s QR code and went over to Roy Duncan, saying those words.
“Honey, add me on WeChat!”
“I’m busy!”
Roy Duncan seemed to be busy with something. He didn’t look up, continuing to search around the Jars family’s mansion for something.
“Honey, what are you looking for right now? I can help you find it. My sense of smell is very sharp. I can even detect the scent of that black bra with a bow you’re wearing! Oh, and there’s also the scent of French shower gel!”
"You..."
Roy Duncan was about to reply, but Mandy March’s sly smile stopped him. He really feared that Mandy March might suddenly reveal what had happened in the lounge that day.
Roy Duncan simply stopped paying attention to Mandy March. This made Mandy March think that when this girl got serious, she actually seemed quite capable—she had half of her grandfather’s charm.
“First of all, my name is Roy Duncan, not your wife!”
“Second, our law enforcement agency is currently handling this matter. Ordinary citizens should not get involved!”
Mandy March wasn’t going to just let it go like that.
In his mind, Roy Duncan thought, “After all, I have so many bodyguards with me. If you try to cause any trouble, those guys will definitely take care of you.”
Then, Roy Duncan’s indifferent attitude made the law enforcement officers even more suspicious about the relationship between this man and Roy Duncan.
“Captain Duncan, we’ve discovered that the young celebrity who died suddenly a few days ago is closely connected to Burgess Jars, the young master of the Jars Corporation!”
The male officer reported and analyzed everything to Roy Duncan in detail. Mandy March listened along. She nodded at the beginning, but started shaking her head as he continued speaking.
In the end, they even said things like “That’s not right!” loudly.
“Please, you’re just an ordinary citizen. We’re from the law enforcement agency. Could you please not interfere with our work?”
“No, I just want to tell you that with evidence like this, you’ll never be able to catch anyone. In fact, your arguments will be completely refuted by them! You won’t succeed in catching anyone at all. Why bother at all?”
Although Roy Duncan was annoyed that Mandy March had touched him in the lounge, now, hearing what Mandy March said, he realized there was some truth to it.
The male law enforcement officer continued, “Then, may I ask, what wise words do you have to offer, you wise man?”
But the male officer’s face showed even more mockery!
“Well, I guess Burgess Jars must be waiting for me at home right now!”
“Waiting for you?”
“You mean, Burgess Jars is at home right now?”
These law enforcement officers were actually considering this issue: if they rushed in without proper preparation, there was nothing they could do to Burgess Jars, since there wasn’t enough evidence to prove his guilt. In other words, they could only request his cooperation, not arrest him.
Please. If it’s not possible to arrange it, then there’s no choice but to wait.
“At home, definitely at home. After all, they still need to prepare 100 million for me!”
Just as he was speaking, he received a call from Burgess Jars.
“I’m right at your house’s entrance. I’ve come to collect what’s owed to me. And yet, you don’t even offer any kind of welcome. That’s really disrespectful!”
