Chapter 9
In the martyrs’ cemetery, although each tombstone has little decoration, every one exudes a sense of dignity.
At that moment, Mel Duncan and Mandy March were both there.
The name engraved on the tombstone in front of them was Sam Wilde.
“Sam Brothers, Mel Duncan and I have come to see you!”
After saying that, Mandy March gave a military salute to Sam Wilde’s gravestone. Apart from the head of the Special Operations Group, it’s likely that only Sam Wilde himself deserved such a salute from Mandy March.
“Back then, if it weren’t for the Sam brothers, I, Mandy March, wouldn’t have achieved anything today!”
On the other hand, Burgess Jars was devastated by losing all his support at once. Yet, in his heart, a seed of revenge was sown.
The major shareholders of the Jars Group found themselves in chaos after the head of the Jars family suddenly collapsed. Everyone rushed to seize control of the company’s shares, leading to turmoil across various industries.
For example, in its clothing business, substandard products keep appearing. In the food industry, there have been numerous cases of food poisoning.
It makes one wonder if someone deliberately poisoned it.
“Mage! The head of the Wilde family has eaten some noodles and gotten poisoned. And it’s not some ordinary poison at all.”
There’s no way something trivial could have prompted Maria Wilde to call Mel Duncan in person.
Mel Duncan and Mandy March both told Maria Wilde that they couldn’t bring Sam back to life. The only thing they could do was take care of Maria Wilde as a way to make amends.
Mel Duncan hurriedly drove toward Wales City’s Second Hospital.
“Mel Duncan, the food industry… Is Jars Group also involved in this?”
Mel Duncan nodded. It seemed that Burgess Jars must be the one who did this. He wanted to get the Jars Group back under his control, and to do that, he needed to create chaos within the group.
As the saying goes, “In times of chaos, great leaders emerge.” That’s exactly how it is.
“Mage, why do you keep Burgess Jars around?”
“Burgis Jars will definitely want to take revenge. To do so, he’ll need to contact people from the underworld. Otherwise, he won’t be able to get his revenge at all with just these people around him!”
Mandy March explained simply that people from the underground world never interact with others unless they’ve been given a task to carry out.
If Burgess Jars really wanted to kill himself, he would have to get the people from the Underworld to do it for him. On his own, he simply wouldn’t be able to pull off such things.
“However, that little troublemaker from the underground world is a bit annoying!”
Upon hearing this, Mel Duncan found it somewhat amusing. The great God of War actually had someone he feared. It was hard to imagine just how powerful that little brat from the underworld really was.
A girl with a ponytail walking towards them had big, watery eyes. Upon seeing Mandy March, she rushed straight into his arms, without any hesitation, acting all affectionate.
“Molly, let go of me first. I still have other things to do!”
“Mandy, you’re not going to leave again without saying goodbye, are you?”
Molly Craig pouted and glared at Mandy March. Seeing this, Mel Duncan decided to step aside for now and go check on how the old Lord Wild was doing.
“Molly, don’t worry. This time I’m going back to England for a long time!”
“Molly Craigie, you’re a family member of the patient, right?”
“This is a critical condition notice!”
Molly Craig had only just felt happy for a moment, when she suddenly felt like she was on the verge of life and death.
“Molly, don’t worry. Just sign your name, and everything will be fine!”
“What’s not wrong with them? They’re already in the late stages of cancer. How can you say nothing’s wrong?”
The nurse said it in a rude manner.
“Tell me, how did you find out that it was advanced cancer?”
Then, the nurse analyzes the information provided and various CT images.
“Call your department head over here. Just a few simple CT scans, and you already say it’s advanced cancer. The patient is old anyway; you’re scaring them to death with such nonsense.”
Auntie Craigie, lying in bed, smiled and said, “Feng-er, I’m already satisfied that you’ve come to see me while I’m still alive. I know my own condition best. There’s no need to bother the nurse. All she needs to do is bring me a critical condition notice. You don’t even need to sign it. I doubt this illness can be cured anyway. It’s better to save that money for the girl’s education.”
“You have no idea how talented this girl is. She got into a top university in Wales! The money from this surgery will just cover her tuition fees!”
Auntie Craig kept praising Molly Craig, making her blush without even realizing it.
“Auntie, I’m not lying to you. You don’t have late-stage cancer! I have a friend who’s an expert in this field!”
But the nurse wouldn’t give up: “Are you trying to say that cancer will just disappear on its own if you keep a positive attitude?”
“That kind of chance is quite rare. It doesn’t mean that if you don’t want it, then it simply won’t happen!”
In the end, the nurse had no choice but to call in the supervisor. To everyone’s surprise, as soon as the supervisor arrived, he scolded the young nurse mercilessly.
The young nurse, who had just graduated from college, immediately became tearful. This made Molly Craig feel sorry for her. So, she said, “Sister nurse, my brother just has a bad temper. Please don’t take it to heart!”
Hearing Molly Craigie say that, the nurse took a deep breath and went back to work.
After discussing academic matters with those overseas doctors that the director knew through Mandy March, he realized just how wrong he had been. It was unbelievable that he could mistake such minor symptoms for advanced cancer.
She immediately apologized to the patient, saying that it was the hospital’s fault. Since Auntie Craig was unharmed, and the director also apologized sincerely, Mandy March decided not to hold anyone accountable.
“Little nurse, although it’s not terminal cancer, Auntie Craig is still a patient who needs your care!”
After Mandy March finished speaking, she planned to go outside and see how Old Mr. Wilde was doing.
If something were to happen to Mr. Wilde, the Wilde family’s heiress would undoubtedly face an unimaginable crisis.
“Mandy, if you ever dare to play the disappearing act again, don’t even come back!”
Mandy March turned her head and saw that Molly Craigie’s hair had a few yellowish strands. She couldn’t help but feel sorry for her.
“Molly, are you free today? Brother’s taking you out for a great meal today!”
Upon hearing about food, Molly Craigy immediately became lively and energetic, just like a little child.
Then, a text message from Mel Duncan made Mandy March rush out of the ward without looking back.
“Mage, Lord Wilde has been admitted to the intensive care unit. Maria Wilde is extremely upset! I’m not good with words and don’t know how to comfort people, so I can only send you a message!”
Mel Duncan is great in every way, except that he’s not very good at pleasing women. Otherwise, he would make a fine brother-in-law.
When he arrived at the entrance of the intensive care unit, there was only Mel Duncan there. Maria Wilde wasn’t to be seen anywhere.
“Mel Duncan, what about Maria Wilde?”
“She wants some time alone. I know she wouldn’t do anything foolish, so I’m relieved!”
“This isn’t something that Burgess Jars could have done alone. It’s very likely that the Wild family’s enemies are behind this!”
