Chapter 4
Amelia's POV
"Nice to meet you Ms. Anderson," Archie greeted, as I was sure he recognized me too, from the way he looked at me, but he was quick to hide it.
"You too, Mr. Thomson," I replied, trying to hide how flustered I felt.
"And then there is Bobby Ross, he is one of our newest members, he started 6 months ago and is an excellent forward of ours," Charles replied before I extended my hand to him as well, but he just looked at me in this weird way before he turned his gaze back to Charles.
"Who is she?" He asked Charles almost accusingly, while I immediately lowered my hand again, as he clearly didn't plan to take it.
"Right, I should have introduced you to her first, meet Amelia Anderson, she is here for the job interview as a potential new team manager," Charles explained,
"What, are you serious?" Blurred out, as Charles smiled awkwardly.
"Very serious." Charles then replied with a stoic demeanor, as Charles was about to say something to me when Bobby cut in once again.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?" He stated as Charles looked at him questioningly.
"Can't it wait? I was just about to show her to the field…"
"NO! It has to be right now," Bobby exclaimed, as I just sent Charles a smile.
"It's fine, it must be important, so I don't mind waiting," I spoke, as Archie suddenly placed an arm on my shoulder.
"I can take her and keep her company while you two talk," Archie replied with a smile, as I looked at him baffled.
"That's really not necessary…" I tried to dismiss, but he just talked over me.
"Oh, it's no problem, I love to!" Archie replied a little too enthusiastic if you ask me, as Charles then nodded.
"Okay, it won't take long, and don't worry, you are in good hands, Amelia," Charles replied.
"Great, the field is this way!" Archie spoke, as he showed me down the hall, while Charles and Bobby headed the other way.
When we had walked a little further he suddenly spoke.
"I didn't think I would see you here, you aren't stalking me, are you?" Archie spoke with a smirk, as I looked at him horrified.
"What? No, why would I do that?" I blurted out, as he started to chuckle.
"I'm just kidding, don't worry, I guess it's just a wild coincidence, huh?"
"Right," I replied, as it made me calm down once again, but I was still nervous.
What if he decided to tell Charles about us? I hadn't really been that nice to him.
"I guess I should apologize for how I handled things the other day, I wasn't trying to offend you or anything, I just had a really bad day. You have to know, I normally don't drink that much and I really just wanted to forget what happened, so could we maybe not tell anyone about how we know each other?" I asked, as he looked at me and gave a nod.
"Sure, no problem," he replied, making me sigh in relief.
"Thank you so much, that's really a big relief for me, I know it probably isn't great to see the person you hooked up with like this either, but you don't have to worry, I'm not planning to bother you or judging your lifestyle."
"My lifestyle?" Archie asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"I didn't mean it like that, but you're probably used to going out on the weekend to meet new people, and even if I'm not, I won't judge you, or involve myself in what you do in your life outside the club it's none of my business," I replied, but he just smiled awkwardly as someone suddenly spoke.
"Archie! What took you so long? We have been waiting!" Someone yelled, as a guy around the same height as him ran up to us.
"Yeah, I know, but I bumped into Charles on the way and I promised to keep his guest company until he returned," Archie replied, as this guy looked at me before he smiled.
"Is that so, Archie didn't try anything funny, did he?" He asked, with a wink, as Archie's eyes narrowed.
"Shut up, Liam!" He shot as Liam started laughing out loud.
"I'm just kidding, it's nice to meet you, I'm Liam, I'm left wing on this team," Liam smiled as he took my hand.
"Nice to meet you too, Liam, I'm Amelia," I replied as a few more players came over. The first thing that caught my eye, was all these guys were looking smoking hot.
Damn, were these guys football players or models?
"Is this your new girlfriend, Archie? That was quick, it hasn't even been a week," one of them asked, as I glanced at him, and I could see him tense.
"Shut up, Liam, Amelia is a guest of Charles," Archie replied, as Liam and the other guys raised their eyebrows.
"Why didn't Charles say anything? If I had known such a pretty girl would come by, I would have fixed my hair," one guy asked as pulled his finger through his dark hair. There was an undercut with long sides.
"It's not about you Ethan," Archie stated.
"Archie's right, Ethan, at least give some space for the rest of us," another one spoke as he took my hand and kissed it.
"I'm Jack by the way," he greeted with a smirk, while Archie shook his head, as he looked back at me.
"As you can hear, these guys are not used to having pretty girls around," he added with a wink, while Bobby suddenly ran past us and into the field, without even sparing us a single glance, before he started kicking one ball after another into the goal.
"Jack! I need you on the goal now!" Bobby yelled as I looked at him, but when our eyes met he seemed to be glaring at me.
Is he angry…with me?
