Chapter 5 Threw Up All Over Windy

Luca pushed the car to its top speed, racing to the hospital emergency room. As soon as he walked in, he saw Olivia sitting by the bed.

Her hand was wrapped in bandages, and there was a noticeable scrape near her eye.

Her expression was cold, as if the car accident meant nothing to her. She just sat there quietly, her face pale.

Luca's heart skipped a beat. He walked over to check on Olivia's arm.

"Olivia, are you okay? Is your arm broken?"

"Just a scrape," Olivia said, pulling her hand away and standing up. "It's already bandaged. I don't need your concern."

During the accident, she had thought she might die, thought she might lose the baby.

But where was Luca then?

Luca felt a lump in his throat and couldn't help but mutter, "I'm still your husband, Olivia. You were in a car accident. Why can't I care about you?"

Olivia gave him a cold glance.

When she said she needed to go to the hospital, Luca had refused without hesitation, saying he had to stay home with Windy.

Now that she'd been in an accident, he rushed to the hospital, pretending to care.

What was the point of this?

"Just leave," Olivia said, brushing past Luca to head out.

Luca, frustrated, reached out and stopped her, a bit angry. "No way! You need a thorough check-up. You're staying here tonight."

"Why?" Olivia frowned.

"Because I need to make sure the accident didn't do any real damage. You have to leave this hospital healthy."

Luca stared at her intently, his eyes full of worry.

Olivia froze, feeling like this had to be her imagination.

Was Luca really concerned about her?

He did brave the heavy rain, leaving Windy behind, to come check on her injuries…

But… how could that be?

Luca hadn't even bothered to spare her a glance in the past.

Olivia mocked herself, "We're about to get divorced. Whether I live or die shouldn't matter to you. I said I'm fine."

She pushed past Luca, but he grabbed her wrist and pulled her close, his eyes burning with suppressed anger.

"You're hurting me!" Olivia exclaimed.

Luca quickly let go, his tone softening a bit. "I've told you, the family gathering is important. You need to get better quickly. Don't let anyone find out about the accident. Grandpa's health isn't good; let's not worry him. I've already arranged a doctor for you. You have to stay for the check-up."

Olivia paused, the tiny flicker of emotion in her heart vanishing completely.

So, he was just worried about Grandpa finding out, worried that he would blame him for not protecting his wife properly. That's why he was suddenly so concerned about her health.

How could she expect real care now, after three years of nothing, especially when they were about to divorce?

Olivia took a deep breath, trying to stay calm.

But she couldn't agree to a detailed check-up. If she did, her pregnancy would be exposed.

"I don't need to stay in the hospital. I told you, it's just a scrape. I can rest at home," Olivia said firmly, meeting Luca's overbearing gaze. "Please move aside."

Luca's breathing quickened, clearly annoyed. "Do you always have to go against me?"

Then, he narrowed his eyes, noticing Olivia's strong reaction.

Before the accident, Olivia's complexion had been terrible.

She was so resistant to coming to the hospital, and now she refused a detailed check-up, as if she was scared or hiding something.

Something felt off.

Luca's gaze darkened. "Olivia, be honest with me. Are you hiding something?"

Olivia's breath caught, her fingers curling nervously as her heart started pounding.

Did he suspect she was pregnant?

She was about to respond when the door to the room swung open. Windy walked in, looking worried. "Olivia, are you okay?"

She rushed over to Olivia, nearly in tears. "It's all my fault. If it weren't for me, Luca wouldn't have refused to come to the hospital with you, and you wouldn't have been in an accident. To make up for it, let me take care of you."

With that, Windy affectionately linked her arm with Olivia's.

Seeing Windy's fake concern made Olivia feel sick to her stomach.

How could Windy genuinely feel sorry for her?

If she really felt guilty, she wouldn't be involved with Olivia's husband.

Others might not know how Olivia felt about Luca, but Windy knew perfectly well.

Windy knew Olivia had been in love with Luca for ten years, knew how important this man was to her.

Olivia couldn't stand Windy's pitiful act. Her stomach churned.

She couldn't hold it in, and didn't want to. She opened her mouth and threw up.

"Ah!" Windy screamed, her voice cracking.

Luca stared in shock as Olivia vomited right onto Windy's skirt.

Windy's face turned ugly, her lips trembling.

"Windy, looks like you're not in a state to take care of me now. Are you sure you still want to stay?" Olivia raised an eyebrow, questioning her coldly.

Windy swayed, looking like she might collapse.

She felt filthy, disgusted, and ready to throw up herself. She barely kept her expression under control and forced a bitter smile. "I… I'll go home and change clothes." She turned to Luca, pleading, "Luca, can you drive me home?"

Olivia crossed her arms, watching them coldly.

Luca felt incredibly conflicted right now, but Windy's skirt was ruined. He had no choice but to drive her home.

As for Olivia, she insisted she was fine. She could probably take care of herself, right?

On the way to drop off Windy, Luca kept thinking about Olivia's refusal to get checked. Even when Windy complained to him, he just brushed her off.

When they got back, Windy asked hopefully, "Luca, can you come upstairs with me?"

"No, Olivia's still at the hospital."

Luca didn't notice the flash of jealousy and distortion on Windy's face. He turned the car around and headed back to the hospital.

At the hospital, Olivia was talking to the doctor, completely unaware that Luca had stepped out of the elevator.

"Doctor, I don't want a detailed check-up. You know the accident didn't really affect me; it's just a simple scrape. If my husband asks, just tell him there's nothing wrong with it, okay?" Olivia didn't want her pregnancy to be discovered.

The doctor hesitated. "Mrs. Vattel, it's better to get checked if you're injured. Mr. Vattel is just worried about you…"

Olivia laughed coldly to herself.

Worried about her? How could he be?

Luca was just afraid the family elders would find out he didn't take his sick wife to the hospital on a rainy night, instead staying home with his lover. He was even more afraid that Grandpa would be upset by news of their upcoming divorce.

Luca couldn't wait to divorce Olivia and marry Windy.

In his eyes, she, the wife he married for family reasons, had never mattered.

Olivia was about to say more when she looked up and saw Luca standing at the door of the room.

Her heart tightened.

Damn it! When did Luca get back to the hospital?

Luca stood there, replaying the words Olivia had just said.

As expected, Olivia was hiding something from him—and it was something big she didn't want him to know!
