Chapter 6 Caught with the Pregnancy Report
Olivia watched Luca stride over, her face returning to a cold, indifferent expression. "Why are you back again?"
Luca ignored her question and glanced at the doctor in charge of Olivia's care. "What were you two talking about just now?" He stared intently at the doctor, trying to catch any hint of something off. "Is there anything wrong with her?"
"No, nothing," the doctor stammered, avoiding eye contact and looking nervous. "She just asked about how to care for her wound during healing. As long as she changes the dressing on time, she'll be fine. I think she's in good spirits and doesn't need to stay in the hospital for observation."
Olivia let out a small sigh of relief, silently thanking the doctor for playing along.
But the next second, Luca's voice cut through sharply, his tone full of displeasure. "You say she doesn't need to stay, so she doesn't?"
Both Olivia and the doctor froze.
Luca commanded forcefully, "She just had a car accident and is showing signs of vomiting. She needs a full check-up!"
Olivia frowned.
Seeing the doctor hesitate, Luca growled coldly, "What are you waiting for? Arrange for her to stay in the hospital for 24-hour observation right now. Get the paperwork done and prepare a room!"
Intimidated by Luca's presence, the doctor swallowed hard and nodded quickly. "Yes, Mr. Vettel, I'll arrange it right away."
As soon as the doctor left, Olivia turned to Luca with an icy glare. "Luca, are you out of your mind? What gives you the right to make decisions for me? I don't need any more check-ups!"
Luca felt a sting from her cold stare, a wave of frustration rising in him.
Just moments ago, when she was talking to the doctor, she didn't seem this annoyed. Only with him did she act so distant. She treated everyone else better than she treated him!
Luca felt an unexplainable irritation and tugged at his collar. "I have the right because I'm legally your husband! You were in a car accident, and until the divorce papers are signed, I'm responsible for your health. Or do you want to alarm Grandpa and have him personally get involved?"
Olivia's breath caught, and she couldn't find the words to respond.
In the entire Vettel family, only Luca's grandfather truly cared about her.
That was also why she agreed to go along with Luca and attend the family gathering next month—she didn't want Grandpa to worry about them.
Olivia stayed quiet for a moment, then sighed and gave in.
She followed the nurse straight to the VIP ward.
As per Luca's instructions to the doctor, she had to stay for 24 hours before she could leave.
What surprised Olivia, though, was that Luca didn't just leave after barking orders.
He stayed in the ward, picked up the medicine tablets from the table, and prepared to pour water to help her take them.
Olivia resisted immediately, snatching the tablets back. "I can take the medicine myself. I don't need your help! Go back to Windy. No need to pretend to be a good husband here."
Luca's gaze turned cold. "Olivia, how long are you going to keep pushing me away? Haven't you had enough of this?"
"Pushing you away?" Olivia let out a bitter laugh, holding back her anger as she mocked him. "You got rid of my job to make room for Windy, forced me into a divorce, and now you say I'm pushing you away? Luca, you should know exactly whose fault it is that our relationship has come to this."
Luca opened his mouth to speak, but, for once, had no comeback.
He knew he had gone too far with some of these things.
But Olivia had already agreed to the divorce, and he had done his best to compensate her financially.
So why couldn't they just get through the remaining days before the divorce calmly?
Luca's face darkened as his phone suddenly rang. Seeing it was Windy calling, his expression softened a little. "Windy, what's wrong?" His tone instantly switched to one of gentle affection, making Olivia's vision blur for a moment.
The way Luca treated Windy was something Olivia had once desperately longed for.
But he had given it all to Windy, whose mother had destroyed her own parents' marriage!
Olivia squeezed her eyes shut, a wave of nausea churning in her stomach.
Luca didn't care at all as he comforted Windy right in front of her. "Don't worry, the rain has stopped. Stay at home, and I'll come to you once I'm done here."
Olivia couldn't take it anymore and was about to kick him out when the ward door was suddenly flung open with force.
"Luca, you jerk!" A woman stormed in.
It was Emma. She had rushed over as soon as she heard about Olivia's car accident.
She was already upset with Luca, and seeing him still lingering in the hospital made her even angrier.
Emma charged over, pointing at Luca as she scolded him. "How could you take care of Olivia like this? You let her come to the hospital alone while feeling unwell, and she got into an accident! And now, you're calling that shameless woman right in front of her!"
Olivia watched the scene in shock.
Luca's face darkened. "This is between me and Olivia. It's none of your business! Watch how you speak to me."
"Between you two? You're just one divorce paper away from having nothing to do with each other!"
Emma wasn't afraid of Luca at all. Even though he had power and influence, she was determined to stand up for her best friend.
Emma grabbed Olivia's coat. "Olivia, let's go! We're not staying here. Come to my place, I'll take care of you!"
"She needs to stay for observation," Luca said, stepping in front of them.
"I think the one who needs observation is you! Do you even have a conscience? Olivia has been so good to you all these years, and you must be out of your mind to get involved with Windy!" Emma shot back without holding anything back, reaching for Olivia.
"I said she's not leaving!" Luca's anger flared as he grabbed Olivia's other arm.
Olivia felt frustrated and unwell as the two tugged at her. She couldn't even protect her stomach with her hands free. Furious, she snapped, "Both of you, stop it! I'm not feeling well, and I can't handle you two messing around like this!"
They both stopped pulling at the same time, but neither let go.
Emma glared fiercely at Luca, her eyes full of hostility, as if he were her sworn enemy. "Did you hear that? Olivia isn't feeling well. Let go of her now!"
Luca still didn't release his grip. "She's my wife right now. Even as her friend, you need to step aside. Let go of her!"
"You let go!"
"No, you let go first!"
The argument started up again.
Luca's anger boiled over. "I don't want to get physical with a woman, but you're pushing me to it!"
He reached out to push Emma's arm away from Olivia.
Emma dodged to the side but accidentally bumped into the bedside cabinet, knocking over a bag.
The bag fell to the floor, and its contents spilled out.
There were Olivia's lipstick, house keys, phone, and a folded piece of paper.
As it hit the ground, the paper unfolded.
All three of them looked at the paper at the same time.
The patient's name was covered, but in the bottom left corner, bold letters stood out clearly: PREGNANT.
In that instant, Olivia's heart raced, panic overwhelming her. She never expected something like this to happen.
The words on the pregnancy test result left Luca's mind reeling. He looked at Olivia, whose face had gone pale.
Emma was stunned too and quickly tried to pick up the paper, but Luca was faster. He grabbed the test result. "Olivia, you owe me an explanation."
He stared at her intensely, not missing a single change in her expression. "Tell me, what is this?"
