Chapter 3 Hayes.

"Yes!” I screamed as the sweat dripped down my face.

I skated toward the glass where the crowd was roaring, raising my stick in celebration as the team crowded around me.

I hadn't even caught my breath when Lexi crashed into me, wrapping her arms around my neck and planting her lips on mine.

I reciprocated immediately, and pull away just in time with the cheers going low as though I had done what I shouldn't have.

Lexi never missed an opportunity with kissing me in public.

We weren't dating, and I didn't have feelings for her, but having her around served a purpose. She was territorial enough to scare off any girl who wanted more than a single night with me, making it easy to avoid the drama of commitment.

Everyone knew who Lexi was, and they knew better than to stay for long after pleasing their fantasies with me.

My hand was wrapped around her waist as I ran my eyes amongst the audience and there—my eyes met with the piercing hazel eyes fixed on me.

I didn't even know the time I slowly withdrew my hand away from Lexi right beside me, and for a while she didn't do anything, just seemed to be frozen on the bleacher staring at me like I've done something wrong.

And a part of me already knew what it was... But, was it concerning yesterday night?

Had something happened?

I blinked.

I remembered walking into her room last night. Even through the alcohol haze, I’d known exactly where I was. But just like every other hour of my day, Fiona was consuming my thoughts, and my feet had simply followed my cravings.

The whistle blew me back to reality and I could hear Lexi whisper.

"Win the game, and we would have a beautiful night." She winked before returning back to her position.

I turned to where Fiona was seated, but she was no longer there anymore.

She has always wanted to see me play... Where did she go?

I returned to the ice.

The whistle shrilled, kicking the second period into action.

I played hard, letting the brutal impact of the game numb my brain. I knew I was running on pure adrenaline, but I refused to slow down.

Kaden made a goal and everyone celebrated once again.

I glanced at the seat I had last seen Fiona, still expecting her to be there but there was no sight of her.

I let out a breath, my head clouded with worries already.

The guys yelled out our team chant, slamming their sticks against the walls as we poured into the locker room.

I settled on the bench and grabbed a bottle of water, as Thor shouted. "Not even in our own school would we let any fuckers fuck with us!”

The others hailed.

I uncapped the bottle and took a gulp down my throat, the beads of sweat down my body.

“Except the Ravens who beat us… We really need to top up against them.” Kaden said.

“Arghhh there you go again Kade…” Thor grunted.

“He’s right, we can’t remain in number two forever..." I chimed in. "We aim. We fight, we win!” I shouted, and they hailed again.

“Well, who are we to go against you two best players of our team? And the fact you’re now even brothers.” Dave said.

I smirked glancing at Kaden who chuckled playfully throwing the bottle of water to Thor.

I had seen it coming being brother with the very best friend I've ever had since we were kids.

The way Dad looked at his mum? I would never understand how Kaden didn't see their marriage coming.

Everyone had always claimed to be jealous of us but me? I don't know... As much as I loved it I wished we could just still remain best friend.

Perhaps because of Fiona?

I shook my head slightly as though that would make the thought disappear when infact everything concerning her  has been living with me for the very first time her hazel locked with mine.

For Kaden's sake, I tried to stay away from her. I forced myself to be distant. But the harder I tried to fight it, the more the temptation pulled me back. Living under the same roof was becoming absolute torture.

The guys walked over to the shower room with their boxer briefs, while I just remained here.

“What’s up, dude!” Thor called patting my back.

“You aren’t going to take a shower? You stink.” I gently pushed him aside.

“Look who’s talking.” He laughed. “Something is bothering you isn’t it?” He had his seat beside me.

“What would be? Probably the party for tonight besides I’m not even the one hosting it…”

“Argh that’s not it! I mean… You know…” Thor looked around this place as though to confirm no one was listening in on us. “Fiona. I saw you two last night.”

I furrowed my brows. “What… What are you talking about?”

“It’s nothing… It's just… Did something happen between you two? I mean—“

“Shut the hell up.” I cut him off. “I got drunk and ended up sleeping in her room, and left the next day. She’s my sister so what could go wrong?”

“True…" Thor rose to his feet. "You better come shower too... You stink real bad." He walked away.

I breathed out, for the hundredth time today

First, it was me worrying about why she hadn't finished watching my match and now worrying if something had truly happened between us yesterday.

Damn... I'm so fucked!
