Chapter 5

Ashley stopped getting distracted and quickly, precisely jabbed silver needles into crucial acupuncture points.

The bedroom went dead silent. All that could be heard was the anxious breathing of those inside.

Amelia was so mad her face paled. She shot Ashley a vicious glare, then whipped out her phone and fired off a message.

Moments later, a middle-aged man rushed in wearing a white coat, panting heavily. "Miss, I came as fast as I could!"

He was another private doctor on the King family's payroll—on duty today by chance.

Amelia caught sight of him like she'd just seen a lifeboat. She immediately pointed at Ashley and yelled, "Dr. Taylor! Hurry! Get this crazy woman away! Who knows what junk she's stabbing into Grandma!"

Dr. Taylor's face darkened when he glanced at the needles in Ashley's hand and Eleanor's condition. "This is outrageous! The old lady's way too weak for this kind of superstitious nonsense. Stop immediately!"

He lunged forward to intervene.

But just as his hand was about to touch Ashley's shoulder—

Ashley, eyes closed and focused on her acupuncture, suddenly snapped them open.

At that exact moment, Eleanor, unconscious until now, convulsed violently on the bed. Her head jerked to the side, and she vomited a mouthful of thick, black, foul-smelling blood.

"Grandma!" Amelia screamed, voice shrill with panic.

"I knew it! She's hurting her! Look—she's making her bleed!"

Pointing at Ashley, Amelia shouted, "Catch that murderer! Lock her up now!"

The guards stationed by the door rushed in and grabbed Ashley from both sides, shoving her back roughly.

Ashley didn't fight. She just stared coldly at Edwin, her eyes full of sarcasm and disappointment.

She had poured everything she had into saving the old lady, and this was the thanks she got?

Edwin's eyes fixed on his grandmother, whose face now looked even paler after vomiting the blood. He didn't give the order to stop the guards, but he didn't tell them to keep going either.

His lips pressed into a tight line, face like frost.

The whole room turned cold, the tension so thick it was suffocating.

Seeing no one was stopping her, Amelia smirked and went to stir up more trouble—

When suddenly, a faint but unmistakable moan broke the silence.

"Edwin..."

On the bed, the eyes of Eleanor slowly fluttered open. Her lashes trembled as she regained consciousness. She still looked weak, but there was a clear light of awareness in her aging eyes now.

Dr. Taylor stood frozen, jaw hanging like he'd swallowed an egg whole.

Even the two bodyguards holding Ashley loosened their grip without realizing it.

Edwin bolted to the bedside, voice shaking with shock and joy. "Grandma, you're awake?! How are you feeling??"

Eleanor's eyes moved slowly, unfocused and tired, sweeping across the room until finally landing on Ashley, still held by the guards.

"Child... thank you for saving me."

Amelia's smile froze. Her expression twisted in disbelief.

No way.

That mute girl... actually saved Grandma?!

"Grandma, you threw up the bad blood. Are you feeling any better now?" Edwin asked softly.

Ashley was fuming. This psycho! He clearly saw the old lady was purging toxins, and yet he just stood there letting the guards grab her? Trying to scare her on purpose??

"I feel... much better now," Eleanor replied faintly.

Pamela practically broke into happy tears. "That's amazing! Mrs. King's okay! Our Young Madam is incredible—she brought her back with just some needles!"

Young Madam?

Eleanor blinked, clearly surprised. She'd shelled out two hundred million to the Sullivan family, but had never met her future granddaughter-in-law before.

Now, to find out this young girl not only had serious medical knowledge but had just saved her life...

Then Eleanor's gaze dropped to the guards still holding Ashley, and her face turned icy cold.

"Who gave you permission to touch my granddaughter-in-law?!"
