Chapter 6 Six
Chapter Six:
Kimberly
Getting to school very Early is one habit I have learnt since after my first day in Greyhigh. I didn’t want other students to see me walking to school while they rode in big cars. These people's mouths never close , they always have something to say .
I walked into the hallway, my eyes met someone and memories of yesterday started clouding my brain. The near kiss moment, as I thought about it my cheeks flushed.
I tried to look at his face as I walked past him, but I could feel his eyes burn my skin.
Someone hands grabbed my arm before I could divert into the next corridor in the hallway.
It was him .
“Uh… what are you trying to do ?” I stuttered, trying not to look at him.
“You better not tell people what happened yesterday,” he warned.
“Because I know you’d see it as a fortune to kiss the Grey’s heir,” he said underneath his breath , raising his eyes up, but I still heard him anyway.
I sneered, my face in total disbelief.
“What?” I scoffed,“I’m not like your girlfriend” I scoffed, slapping his hand away.
“Whose girlfriend?” A feminine asked behind me and I knew it was no other other person but Cassie.
My mouth opened in shock. I turn slowly to face her.
“Hi Cassie,” I waved, letting out an akward smile.
She snickered, “Horrible!”
And my smile faltered immediately.
I hope she didn’t hear the other part what we were talking about. If not she is going to kill me , that’s if she doesn’t even skin me alive now.
“I asked you a question,” she said, folding her arms across her chest and tilting her head to the side.
“Uh… erm,” I scratched the back of my neck,“ it was nothing, it was just a random conversation right?” I said turning to face Xavier.
“ No,” he smirked,“She was trying to gossip about you.”
“What!” Cassie’s face wrinkled in anger as she grabbed my hair.
Students In the hallway started looking at our direction.
“Ouch, ouch , please stop,” I begged.
“ What were you even talking about, you good for nothing!”
“Hey , hey, Cassie stop,” Xavier held her hand,“You don’t have to do that, she’s not worth it, he said, his eyes meeting mine.
I felt a wave of anger Rose in my belly, my brows furrowed together.
“You don’t have to stress yourself babe, you know you have to look pretty always,” he said and gave her a peck on her cheek.
“Right!” Cassie smiled and forcefully release her grip from my hair.
“Ouch,” I winced.
The bell for the next class rang and everyone scurried into the class.
I quickly ran to use the toilet before I head for the class.
I open the door slowly, the teacher was already teaching
“ Kimberly, why are you just coming ?” The teacher question.
“I went to use the restroom.”
“Probably went to get out the foul smell off her stomach,” a boy sent and the whole class stirred in laughter.
“Quiet!” The teacher ordered.
“Now Kimberly, go sit down.”
“Thank you sir.”
I walked slowly to my seat, my head slightly bowed. Would they ever forget that day?
“Ewww, you better sit somewhere else, I don’t want to smell like your crappy food,” the boy whispered as I was about to take my seat.
I heaved a deep sigh, my shoulders slumping at my side.
“Your mouth probably smells worse than that,” Xavier retorted.
The boy's mouth opened like a saucer and he breathed into his palm like he really wanted to check if his breath was smelly.
My eyes grew wide. Xavier standing up for me? Am I dreaming or what?
“Hey you,” he called out to me,“You’re wasting our time, can you sit down ?”
“Uh… yes,” I said nervously as I took my seat.
“What’s going on there?” You all better behave as the class is about to start, the teacher said as he proceeds to write on the board.
The teacher started teaching but my mind drifted away. I was already thinking of after school. I’m going to be in the same close space with Xavier. How pathetic!
And just as my eyes shifted, it met Cassie’s, she was glaring at me and I wonder why?
The class was over and that marked the last class of the day.
I stood in the hallway waiting for Leah, the only friend I had made in this school.
Cassie was walking towards me, stomping her feet and her brows furrowed.
She got to where I was and stood in front of me.
“ I don’t know what you’re doing, but you better stay away from my boyfriend,” she said, pointing her fingers at me.
“I .. I am not…” I started to say but she cut me off.
“I don’t want to hear any of those, This may be the last warning, or ,” she smirked,“ You may lose your scholarship.”
She said and walked away.
I opened my mouth, completely stunned. I’m not even trying to get close to him. I mean he is not my type.
I can’t lose my scholarship!
“ Hey, you okay?” Anaya questioned.
“Yeah I’m fine.”
Anaya's eyes followed my gaze and she saw Cassie who was still walking in the hallway.
“Did she do anything to you?”
“No. No she wouldn’t, it’s just , just,” I exhaled,“you know what let’s just forget about it.”
“ Don’t let her bully you okay,” Anaya said, placing her hand on my shoulder.
“ You don’t have to worry about me, I will be fine, " I said, calmly.
As Anaya and I walked away, my phone buzzed in the pocket of my blazer. I didn’t want to take it at first, but my instinct beat me to it.
A notification popped up on my phone, it was a message from an unknown number.
“Meet me at the principal’s office tomorrow by 9am,”
My eyes grew wide,my heart started racing. I haven’t done anything wrong.
