Chapter 1
On our tenth anniversary, he and I had planned to watch the stars together.
But as soon as I reached the mountaintop, I got a call from him.
"The company needs me to work overtime. I can't make it today, you go ahead and watch by yourself."
Right after he hung up, I saw a post from his female classmate who had just returned to the country.
Catarina was sitting in his passenger seat, holding a half-eaten cupcake in her hands.
[Someone was worried I'd get hungry coming back so late, so he specially brought me a cupcake!]
Another picture showed Catarina's feet on the passenger seat, shoes still on.
[He said his cleanliness obsession never applies to me. I can do whatever I want in his car.]
I looked up at the twinkling stars above, a bitter smile crossing my face.
This was the tenth time he'd ditched me.
Every anniversary, this female classmate of his would always show up.
I once gently told him, "I don't want to be interrupted every time."
But Elroy looked at me with displeasure. "What do you mean, interrupted? Catarina is my friend. Can you not be so petty?"
The cold wind howled on the mountaintop. Catarina's words felt like a thorn stuck in my heart, making my eyes well up with tears.
This ten-year relationship—I was done with it.
Chapter 1
I walked in silence, lost in thought, completely unaware of the poisonous snake at my feet.
Its fangs bit straight into my ankle. I fell in pain, and after seeing what kind of snake it was, my first reaction was to call Elroy.
But the call was hung up immediately after connecting.
Only then did I remember—he was probably with Catarina right now.
Only Catarina could make him hang up on me without hesitation.
Heartbroken, I quickly dialed emergency services.
By the time I got to the hospital, I was nearly unconscious, but I still caught sight of Elroy rushing in carrying Catarina.
"Doctor! Come quickly, her leg is injured!"
The doctor glanced at the barely visible scratch on Catarina's foot and frowned. "This doesn't need emergency care at all. That patient over there is in critical condition—we need to treat her first!"
Only then did Elroy follow the doctor's gaze and see me.
But the next second, he looked at me with displeasure. "Morgana! Just because I didn't watch the stars with you, you had to follow me all the way here?"
"Catarina cares about her appearance. She doesn't want scars. Be good and wait a bit. Let the doctor treat her first."
The snake venom had already made it hard for me to speak, yet his words still stabbed my heart with pain.
Even the doctor was shocked by what he said and yelled at him, "She's been bitten by a poisonous snake! Move aside! Any later and she'll die!"
Hearing the doctor's words, Elroy finally looked at my face with some doubt.
Seeing my face turning purple, he said with both concern and disapproval, "Morgana, I know you're jealous again, but this way of competing for attention is too crude. Don't do this again!"
Then he turned and gently placed Catarina on a chair.
"Wait a bit longer. Don't worry, I promise I won't let you get any scars."
This scene pierced my eyes deeply.
Elroy and I used to love each other so much. When I got hurt, he would rush me to the doctor, too.
When I didn't want to take medicine, he would coax me like a child.
We had sworn under the stars that we would love each other forever and never betray each other.
But all these promises crumbled so easily in front of Catarina.
One blow after another—I could no longer withstand the snake venom and completely passed out.
Before losing consciousness, I made a decision.
Elroy, I won't love you anymore.
