Chapter 2

When I woke up, I realized Catarina's hospital bed was right next to mine.

Still groggy, I watched Elroy carefully applying medicine for her.

The two of them were laughing and playing around, as if they were the couple madly in love.

Seeing me awake, Elroy finally stood up and walked over to me. "Morgana, you're finally awake. Do you know how worried I was about you?"

Seeing my cold stare, he sighed. "Alright, I know you're jealous. There's really nothing between Catarina and me. If there was, would it be your turn to be my girlfriend?"

Catarina chimed in with a smile, "That's right, Morgana. We're just friends. Don't be jealous—Elroy will worry."

The two of them took turns making me out to be an unreasonable girlfriend.

Seeing I still wouldn't speak, Elroy sighed. "You must be hungry. Stop being upset. I'll go get you breakfast."

After he left, Catarina walked over to me smugly, deliberately showing off the hickeys on her neck.

"Morgana, you don't know this, but while you were unconscious, Elroy and I did it three times on this bed."

"He said doing it next to you was so exciting. What does ten years together matter? I just have to say one word, and he'll go through fire and water for me."

"Morgana, I suggest you be smart and back off."

In the past, I would have been furious at her provocation.

But this time, I suddenly wasn't angry anymore.

I closed my eyes, completely ignoring her taunts.

My reaction made Catarina so angry she kicked the hospital bed, hurting herself so much she kept crying out.

Half an hour later, Elroy finally came back with the porridge.

Looking at the seafood porridge he brought, I said coldly, "I'm allergic to seafood. Don't you know that?"

Only then did he slap his forehead in frustration. "I'm sorry, I forgot for a moment. I'll go change it for you right away."

"Don't bother."

I refused coldly.

In ten years, I'd told him countless times I was allergic to seafood, but he always forgot.

And all because Catarina loved seafood, so he always overlooked my needs.

But it didn't matter anymore.

Looking at this man I'd loved for ten years, I smiled indifferently.

I didn't love him anymore anyway.

That afternoon, Elroy and Catarina left the hospital room together.

Elroy texted me saying he had to work overtime.

"Morgana, I didn't forget about your seafood allergy on purpose. When I get back from work, let's go stargazing, okay?"

But the next second, I received a message Catarina deliberately sent me.

During their disappearance, Elroy was actually taking her scuba diving at the beach.

I laughed at myself and turned off my phone.

After checking out of the hospital early and going home, I packed some personal belongings and called my former professor.

"Professor, I'm willing to go abroad and be your assistant."

My professor's delighted voice came through. "Really? Morgana, I'm so glad you're willing to help me! Your talent won't be wasted!"

My professor was doing archaeological work. Over the past ten years, he'd called more than once, hoping I'd become his assistant.

But every time, Elroy said he didn't want a long-distance relationship, so I always refused.

But this time, I just wanted to make a choice for myself.

I quickly processed all the paperwork for working abroad.

But just as I walked out of the office, someone suddenly covered my head with cloth.

I struggled all the way, but the person said nothing and took me somewhere.

When the cloth was finally removed from my head, I was shocked by what I saw.
