Chapter 5

"Stop right there!" Lisa gritted her teeth, her eyes full of humiliation. "You think tearing up the engagement will save your face? You hurt someone from the Miller family today—you think you can walk out of New York alive?"

Frank stopped, but he didn't turn around.

"In half an hour," Frank's voice echoed through the empty hall, "there will be no more Miller family in New York."

He pushed open the door and walked into the night.

Zach collapsed on the floor, his face ashen. Lisa clenched her fists, staring hard at the doorway.

"How arrogant!" Cade snapped back to his senses and roared, "Get all our family's elite forces here! I want him dead!"

Outside, the armored car started up.

Frank leaned back in his seat, took out his phone, and dialed a number.

"Master Carter," Frank looked at the night scenery flashing by outside, "the Miller family is becoming an eyesore."

A low chuckle came from the other end, "Got it, my good student. Ten minutes."

Frank hung up and looked at the two remaining engagement contracts in his backpack.

The night in New York was just beginning.

The armored car's engine rumbled low as Frank leaned back in the leather seat with his eyes closed.

The sound of urgent high heels clicking came from outside.

"Frank! Get out here!" Lisa stood outside the car window, arms crossed, her face livid. She ultimately couldn't swallow the humiliation of having the engagement torn up in public.

The Asura Warrior in the passenger seat put his hand on his holster and looked back at Frank. Frank opened his eyes and pushed the door open.

The night wind messed up Lisa's hair. She stared hard into Frank's eyes and raised her voice, "You think using this attention-seeking method can hide your insecurity? You tore up the engagement and offended the Miller family—you won't even make it out of New York tonight!"

Frank didn't look at her. His gaze went past Lisa's shoulder, scanning the dark bushes around the estate.

"Are you done?" Frank's voice was flat.

"Stop putting on an act!" Lisa stepped forward. "Grandpa may be confused, but I'm not blind. You're just using the Starship Group's name to intimidate people. Without your teacher Mr. Carter, you're just a bug that can be crushed anytime!"

Frank suddenly reached out, grabbed Lisa's arm, and yanked her toward him.

"What are you doing!" Lisa screamed.

A large-caliber sniper bullet flew past where Lisa had just been standing and punched straight through the bulletproof glass behind the armored car.

Lisa's scream caught in her throat. She stared at the shattered bulletproof glass, her mind going blank.

All the floodlights around the estate went out at once. In the darkness, countless red laser beams appeared, dozens of infrared targeting dots moving across Frank and Lisa's bodies.

A large group of killers in black tactical gear, carrying automatic rifles, poured out from all directions, blocking all the estate's exits.

The banquet hall doors opened again. Cade, leaning on his cane and surrounded by over a dozen armed guards, slowly walked out.

Inside the hall, all the core members of the Garcia family were being held at gunpoint, crouching with their hands on their heads. Zach's face was pale, his whole body trembling.

"Lisa, why are you running so fast?" Cade wore a cold smile, his cane hitting the ground heavily. "The engagement party isn't over yet."

Lisa's legs went weak, barely able to stand. She turned to look at Cade, her voice shaking, "Mr. Miller, what do you mean? Aren't our two families supposed to be united through marriage?"

"Marriage?" Cade laughed loudly, his laughter full of mockery. "The Garcia family controls a third of North America's underground smuggling routes. You really think my grandson is interested in you? Getting all the Garcia family's top people together today was just to make it easier to catch you all at once."

He raised his hand, pointing at Frank, "The plan was going smoothly, but then you had to show up, you fool. But that's fine—killing the Starship Group's heir here too will eliminate future problems."

Lisa completely broke down. Her proud family background, her self-important position as a marriage bargaining chip—all worthless in the face of absolute violence.

Frank released Lisa's arm. He pulled out a pure black metal ring from his pocket, its surface carved with a starship emblem.

"Look carefully," Frank tossed the ring at Lisa's feet. The metal hit the ground with a clear sound.

Lisa looked down and saw the ring in the moonlight. Zach saw it from inside the hall and, moved to tears, immediately kowtowed.

"Years ago, your grandfather knelt outside the Starship Group headquarters for three days and nights, begging my teacher to save the Garcia family's business," Frank's hands were in his pockets, his tone cold.

"This engagement contract was a protective charm my teacher gave your Garcia family. Without it, you would have been swallowed up by the people behind the Miller family three years ago."

Frank looked down at the pale-faced Lisa, "I came today to fulfill my teacher's promise to protect the Garcia family."

Frank paused, "You think I'm interested in you?"

Lisa collapsed on the ground. She finally understood—she had just driven away the Garcia family's only hope for survival.

"You're still talking big when death is at your door!" Cade's face turned extremely ugly. "The Starship Group's forces can't even get into New York. We've set up a perfect trap here today. You can't escape. Open fire—make sure they stay here forever."

The killers around them moved into action. Frank raised his left wrist and glanced at his watch, "Perfect timing."

A roar filled the sky. Three heavy armed helicopters tore through the clouds and hovered above the estate. Blinding tactical spotlights instantly lit up the entire estate like daylight.

The Gatling guns on both sides of the helicopters began spinning wildly.

Deafening gunfire filled the night sky. The killers hiding in the bushes didn't even have time to pull their triggers—they were all wiped out, the bushes turning red.

The smugness on Cade's face froze instantly. He stood there, rigid.

Then came violent crashing sounds from outside the estate. Ten heavily modified black Hummer SUVs plowed straight through the gate and charged into the front yard.

The doors opened, and over a hundred elite gunmen in black trench coats with mafia family emblems on their chests poured out.

Their movements were perfectly synchronized as they raised their heavy weapons and surrounded the Miller family's guards.

The situation completely reversed in ten seconds.

A stretched Rolls-Royce Phantom slowly drove into the estate and stopped in front of Frank. The door opened.

A tall, middle-aged man with a scar running across his left cheek stepped out. He wore a well-tailored black suit, his leather shoes stepping on the shell casings covering the ground.
