Chapter 5
“Juliet Milton! Why such a hurry?” the guy next to her asked, puzzled.
“The kitten and puppy are lost. Won’t you go look for them?” Juliet Milton was firm in her stance and left without hesitation.
He was originally a golden bachelor. Why would he suddenly get a daughter? It’s too much of a hassle…
“When did he start keeping cats and dogs at home? Isn’t he a germaphobe? How can he tolerate it?”
“Isn’t it obvious? There must be a beautiful woman hidden somewhere in that golden house.”
“It’s really curious—what kind of woman could possibly send Juliet Milton into a panic?”
Although Juliet Milton has left, discussions about her in the KTVs continue unabated.
Simone Milton was shoved directly into the back seat of the car by those men in black. When she looked up, she suddenly met a pair of cold eyes.
She couldn’t help but pull her body back slightly, asking in a trembling voice, “Who are you?”
The man in front of her wore a mask, revealing only his cold eyes. Although he said nothing, his entire demeanor suggested that he wasn’t someone to be trifled with.
Simone Milton suddenly felt as though the temperature around her had dropped several degrees. The cold was very real.
“Miss Milton, don’t you remember me?” The tone of voice was utterly calm, as cold as a sharp knife.
After saying that, he simply handed her a document.
His hands had distinct knuckles, were long and fair in color, looking just like the hands of the male protagonists in comics.
Simone Milton couldn’t help but take a few more glances at it. Then she turned to the document. When she reached the last page, the name on it shocked her greatly.
The plot seems to be developing a bit too quickly. In the novel, Simone Milton has already met Alberta Arthur’s uncle by this point?
It’s the ugly, vicious male character from that novel.
Simone Milton examined him carefully. Seeing that he was wearing a mask, and recalling the descriptions of his appearance in the novel, she naturally assumed that he was doing so to hide his face.
Although it’s unclear whether his methods were cruel, for some reason, Simone Milton didn’t find him particularly terrifying. Instead, she sensed a kind of charm that had been refined over the years.
Looking further down, his leg came into view. It seemed no different from a normal person’s leg. But according to the novel, he was lame.
Simone Milton couldn’t help but feel a little sympathy for the man who had only three years left to live.
“Miss Milton, do you remember who I am now?” Nick Arthur raised his voice on purpose. His eyes were deep, but it was impossible to read his expression.
“Mr. Arthur,” Simone Milton silently clenched the document in her hands and explained softly, “I’ve not been feeling well lately, so I’ve been resting at home. I completely forgot about this matter. You…”
Upon hearing this, Nick Arthur’s expression immediately darkened. The woman kept approaching him, so he quickly shook his head.
“Stop talking. Stay away from me.”
It seemed as though the woman before him might actually eat him up, so he was extremely cautious.
Because he was wearing a mask, it was impossible to tell the expression on his face. It gave the impression that he was keeping people at a distance.
After speaking, she couldn’t help but cough a couple of times. Yet even so, she exuded an air of nobility, with movements that remained extremely graceful.
One hand was clenched into a fist and brought to the mouth, while trying to suppress the urge to cough.
His Adam’s apple moved up and down. Those cold eyes emitted a faint glow, giving him the aura of a reclusive, ascetic male god.
At that moment, a sudden brake caused Simone Milton to fall right into Nick Arthur’s arms.
At that moment, he suddenly felt extremely at peace. That long-lost feeling returned once again.
His whole body gradually relaxed. His eyes narrowed slightly, and within a few seconds, he fell asleep.
After seeing that document, Simone Milton’s memories were once again awakened.
After her first day of filming, the original owner was completely exhausted. She got into a car parked at the entrance of the filming site. To her surprise, Nick Arthur was sitting in the car.
It was because this car resembled hers so much that it was impossible to tell them apart in the dark. That’s why this misunderstanding happened.
Simone Milton kept trying to remove Nick Arthur’s mask, but she didn’t expect that he would fall asleep right after she bumped into him.
Later, it was learned that Nick Arthur suffered from a very strange condition: narcolepsy.
Basically, it’s severe insomnia. I can only get by with medication every day, so my mental state is a bit confused.
Nick Arthur couldn’t find a proper place to sleep, so he simply collapsed on Simone Milton. Under the driver’s threat, she remained motionless for over two hours.
The next day.
Nick Arthur sent her a document stating clearly that he would never touch her, and that the service would be charged on an hourly basis.
Isn’t this clearly asking her to act as a human pillow? But at that time, the original character came from a small town, had never seen much of the world, and was in desperate need of money. So, she agreed.
After sorting everything out, Simone Milton borrowed a phone from the driver and sent a message to Juliet Milton to let her know she was safe.
After rushing out of the KTV, Juliet Milton searched everywhere on the streets. When she found nothing, she returned to the villa.
Upon receiving this text message, his face turned pale as clay.
“This damn girl, is she trying to trick me?”
Beside her, Martha frowned and asked worriedly, “Grandpa, have you found Mommy?”
“What are you worrying about here? Go back and sleep already!” Juliet Milton glared angrily at Martha beside her. Seeing Martha’s reddened eyes, she felt a pang of pity for her.
He shook his head helplessly and shouted, “Didn’t you hear what I said just now?”
Juliet Milton kept telling herself that she must not fall for this trick played on her and her mother. So, despite her pain, she put on a fierce and intimidating expression on the surface.
“Mom hasn’t been back for such a long time. Why don’t you go look for her?” Martha asked, tears in her eyes, feeling aggrieved.
After saying that, he started running, shouting along the way, “If you won’t go, I’ll go by myself!”
Juliet Milton watched as she ran toward the door, shouting in fury, “Everyone, get out of here! No one is allowed to come back!”
But a few seconds later, the person really disappeared from sight. He became anxious immediately and rushed out.
I caught Martha at the elevator door, then carried her to the bedroom and closed the door gently.
“Just stay at home honestly. She’ll be back in a moment.”
Martha thought he was trying to deceive her, so she cried bitterly, knocking on the door incessantly: “Let me out! I want to find Mommy!”
Juliet Milton frowned, feeling a severe headache, but still patiently explained things.
But Martha wouldn’t believe a word he said and kept crying.
Juliet Milton was filled with rage and couldn’t help but sigh, “I must have committed some terrible sin in my past life. Otherwise, how could I ever meet you two debt collectors!”
Juliet Milton and Martha’s reactions were things Simone Milton, who was sitting in the car, could never possibly know. At that moment, Simone sat there, her gaze slightly lowered, looking at Nick Arthur, who was lying in her arms.
