Chapter 2 Torture

Axel’s POV

‘Hey, get up!” a voice harshly commanded.

For a moment, all I heard was distant voices but the feeling that engulfed me was darkness embedded with loneliness, betrayal and despair, then suddenly, I awoke with a jolt as a bone chilling coldness washed over me.

“Get up you homosexual scum!” a familiar voice roared.

I gasped for air, severally and a whiplash to my bare back stabilized my breathing. The clanging on the iron bars, chillness that ran through my spine and the sight of my naked scalded feet jolted my memory-I was in the torture chamber and had passed out after my head was dipped in water for five minutes.

“Confess your crime!” My tormentor roared before a whip landed on my unclad body.

I yelped in pain, releasing the melody of my tormented soul.

“No.” I muttered, shaking my head.

He raised his whip, ready to lash me again but the door creaked open and I heard footsteps. I couldn’t see who it was but the person squatted right in front of me and lifted my chin with his index finger.

Vaguely, I recognized his face and the person who stood at a safe distance behind him, my blurry vision caused by the swollen eye and trickling blood cleared for a moment.

“Alpha Kaid, please.” I begged, my throat parched.

“Admit that you’re a criminal whose crime is been a disgusting homosexual who seduces men and all this pain will end.” Alpha Kaid instructed me, convincingly.

I was taken aback by his words and I chuckled, choking on a pea-sized lump that formed in my throat. “I’d rather die.” I whispered, my voice barely audible.

“Didn’t I tell you dad? He’ll never admit to it.” Riven hissed.

Alpha Riven growled, irritated by my insistence and stood up. “Make it known to all pack members-Axel Grant will be put on a public trail by morning.” He declared and vegan to walk away, getting to the door, he paused to look at me. “Everyone needs to see the fate of a damned homosexual.” He spat before finally disappearing into the shadows.

Riven didn’t spare me a glance and I was reminded of my status as a fiery pain coursed through me-my toenails were been ripped away.

The torture continued and I lost track of time but I could tell as no sunlight penetrated through the dingy window of the cell-it was nightfall. There was a scuffle outside then I heard muffled voices, the guards exited the cell and I heard approaching footsteps.

“Who’s there?” I called out.

“It’s me.”

I burst into a sadistic laughter, recognizing the voice.

“His royal highness, to what do I owe this pleasure?” I asked, my tone laced with sarcasm.

Riven scoffed and sucked his teeth. “Your rationality was one of the things that attracted me to you, you know that?”

I scoffed. “I’m guessing you saw more than that in Amelia.”

His eyes were filled with guilt when he looked at me and it eased my pain, partially. He sighed and looked over his shoulders, as if wary someone might hear us, he inched closer and brought out a bottle of water from under his coat. “Here, the guards told me you haven’t eaten anything for three days now.”

He opened the cap and reluctantly, I drank from the bottle of water. “You should confess.” He muttered, quietly.

“What?”

“Just confess to your crimes and I might still be able to help keep you at the pack, you’ll face the penalty but you’ll get to be safe.” He uttered, boldly.

I looked at his face for a hint of humor but there was none, his expression had darkened and he frowned, deeply.

“You want me to confess to what I didn’t do? Wait a minute.” I retorted. “I thought we’re in love, we’d face this togeth-“

“Are you insane? You must be hallucinating to think I’ll let you drag me into this!” he interjected, shutting me up.

“Y-you.” I stuttered, barely strengthened enough to speak. “You said you loved me, that nothing would ever come between us, did you mean any of that? Those promises?” I added, my voice in a bit of a whisper as fear gripped my heart-again.

Riven scoffed. “Are you delirious? You think I’d risk everything, my enter life and future, for you? You’re nothing without me, you’re just a lowly useless Omega, you should be ungrateful I’m willing to give you another shot at life!” he spat, condescendingly,.

The warmth and love I knew was gone-replaced by pride and bitterness. He ran his fingers through his hair, frustrated.

“Just confess and you’ll be fine, consider it a gift from me-“

“I would never confess to a crime i didn’t commit and obviously, i was wrong about you now get out!” I interjected him.

“Wha-“

“Get out you b*stard!” I yelled, with what strength that’s left in me.

“You’re one stubborn wolf you know that?” he asked, mockingly. "You brought this on yourself.” He said, eerily then walked out.

My spirit shattered, all over again as it finally dawned on me - I was only a pawn in his hands. I didn’t know what else happened as the crushing weight of my plundered spirit overwhelmed me. Hours passed by and I heard approaching footsteps.

“Are you here to finish what you started Riven?” I asked, feeling disgusted.

“No my child, I’m here to do the right thing.”

My head instantly shot up as I recognized the voice. “Granny Tia.” I whispered.

She hurriedly unshackled me and pressed a finger on my lips as I attempted to speak. She urged me to follow her and we coyly escaped the guards.

“Run my child, run, away from this pack forever, else they’ll be nothing left after your trail.” She urged me as we were safely out.

She gave me a warm hug and shook her head when I attempted to speak.

“Thank you.” I whispered before turning on my heels to run. I head for my dingy room and packed all my belongings which was barely anything since I was a lowly omega, I took my most prized treasure-the keepsake my dad gave me as a remembrance of my mom before he died.

I took one last look at the pack and ran as fast as I could, I got in the woods and relented a bit since it was nightfall and no one was there. I crashed under a oak tree to catch my breath and a distinctive smell caught my attention.

It was of a werewolf but it intensified, it wasn’t one or two or five. I looked up to suddenly see lit torches heading my direction, my heart raced non-stop.

They’ve found me.
