Chapter 14 Meeting His Fiancee (2)

Roy was almost one hour late when he came down from the cab and stood in front of Embassy Suites.

Even though it wasn't lunchtime yet, luxury vehicles already lined the entrance. Young men and women dressed in designer brands moved in and out of the establishment, their laughter carrying through the air.

Roy glanced down at his clothes.

They were the best he owned because he had gotten them recently from a small store, but compared to everyone around him, he looked painfully ordinary.

After paying the driver, he headed toward the entrance.

The security guard stationed at the door looked Roy up and down before stepping forward and blocking his path.

"Job interviews are through the back entrance," the guard said dismissively.

Roy paused.

"I'm not here for an interview."

The guard frowned. "Then what are you here for?"

"To eat."

The answer clearly caught the guard off guard.

He studied Roy for a few seconds before reluctantly stepping aside.

Although Embassy Suites mainly catered to wealthy clients, there were always a few curious people who came hoping to experience luxury for a day.

The guard eventually waved him through.

The moment Roy entered, he was stunned.

The restaurant wasn't particularly large, but every detail screamed elegance.

Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, bathing the hall in a warm golden glow. Paintings decorated the walls, while antique ornaments filled every corner, giving the entire place an old-world charm.

The thick carpet beneath Roy's feet felt softer than anything he had ever stepped on.

For a moment, he almost forgot why he had come.

Had things gone differently in life, he probably would never have entered a place like this.

The gap between the rich and the poor wasn't just measured in money. It was reflected in places like this.

Roy took out his phone.

He intended to call Mr. Brown and ask for the private room number. However, he couldn't just stand in the middle of the place and make a call.

He quickly headed for the swimming and open bar area.

Meanwhile, inside the private room, a lady called Bunnie glanced at her phone and noticed the time. It was already past ten now.

She couldn't help frowning.

"Who exactly is this fiancé of yours, huh?" she asked.

The beautiful woman sitting right opposite her smiled helplessly. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, he told his uncle to tell you he would be available by nine o'clock today at Embassy Suites. It's past ten o'clock now."

Bunnie whined, putting down her phone.

The woman laughed softly. "Maybe he's busy."

"Busy?" Bunnie rolled her eyes. "Bestie, what could possibly be so important that he shows up late to meet his fiancée for the first time?"

The woman didn't know how to answer.

Seeing this, Erica became even more dissatisfied.

"If it were me, I'd already be reconsidering the engagement. You're Shantel Quinn, not some woman he can stand up!"

"Bunnie..."

"No, seriously." She crossed her arms. "There are countless outstanding men in this city. Successful men! Responsible men! Men who know how to respect a woman's time!"

Her tone carried obvious dissatisfaction.

"And this man can't even arrive on time. Well, he better be the President's son!"

The woman only shook her head. "You're judging him before you've met him."

"Someone has to."

Bunnie snorted. "As your best friend, it's literally my job."

The woman merely smiled.

Bunnie continued however, "Honestly, after everything I've seen from men, I don't have much patience for men anymore."

"Everything you've seen?" The woman raised an eyebrow.

Immediately, Valerie's name came to Bunnie's mind. Her cousin—Valerie—had wasted years on a man Bunnie had never approved of from the onset. A man with no background, no connections, and no future.

Thankfully, that relationship was over.

"If a man really values a woman, he'll prove it through his actions." Bunnie stood up and grabbed her purse. "Anyway, I'm going for a smoke. When your mysterious fiancé finally shows up, call me."

With that, Bunnie turned and walked out of the private room.

A few minutes later, she arrived at the swimming and open bar area. She adjusted her hair slightly and pushed the door open with a faint sigh.

Of all places to waste time waiting for a man who couldn’t even respect a meeting time…She clicked her tongue.

As she took out her cigarette in a small corner, she caught sight of a man holding a phone to his ear. Something about his back and style of dressing felt oddly familiar.

Bunnie slowed her steps. Where have I seen him before?

The man suddenly turned back, ending the call, and bumped into her. This made Bunnie's cigarette fly into the pool.

“Bastard! Are you blind? Can’t you see—”

Her voice stopped mid-sentence when she finally saw his face, and at the same time, he froze too.

Roy West!

Bunnie's eyes widened slightly before narrowing sharply. “…You.”

Roy gave a small, awkward smile. “What a coincidence.”

Bunnie's expression darkened instantly. “You again?”

Her voice carried open disgust but Roy only sighed softly. “Well, I didn’t expect to see my ex-girlfriend's cousin here. Hi, Bunnie.”

“Don’t you dare call my name like we’re friends.” She folded her arms tightly. Her gaze swept over him from head to toe.

She scrunched her nose in disdain. This man was still the same. Still ordinary. He's still that same man she had always disliked. Her expression turned colder.

“So you’re really still showing up everywhere Valerie's family members are?”

Roy frowned slightly. “Who is Valerie?”

Bunnie let out a short, definitely pained by that comeback. “Right.”

She took a step closer. “Let me guess, you found out she moved on with a better man, so now you’re here to beg me to talk to her for you?”

Roy’s patience thinned a little. Bunnie had always been so annoying.

“I said I’m not here for her.”

Bunnie scoffed. “You always say things like that. But men like you never know when to let go.”

Roy looked at her quietly.

“I don’t have time for this.”

He turned to leave but Bunnie stepped forward, blocking his path.

“And who gave you the permission to leave?”
