Chapter 2

Three years ago, the battle in Ash Valley resulted in devastating casualties, so the remaining mages formed the Magic Association to assess people's magical aptitude, dividing it into three levels: advanced, low-level, and apprentice.

As for the higher-ranking legendary mages, they all perished in the Battle of Ash Valley.

And now I am just an "ordinary person" who cannot use magic, because according to the Magic Association's statistics, all legendary mages died in Ash Valley, so no one knows my true identity.

Faced with numerous household chores and Derek's pranks, I could only endure it. Although my injuries were slowly healing and I could use simple low-level magic, I didn't want to reveal that.

Over the course of three years, Elena was targeted countless times by assassins from the underground black market who wanted to seize the magical artifact on her body—the Guardian Crystal. However, I secretly dealt with these people using magic.

But Elena was completely unaware of this, and instead, seeing me so obedient and cowardly at home every day only fueled her anger.

After leaving home, Elena let out a long sigh of relief. "Finally, I don't have to worry about that good-for-nothing for a while."

Upon arriving at Viktor's house, Elena rang the doorbell.

The door opened, and a drunk Derek saw Elena.

"Sister! You're finally here! Come in quickly! This is the most fun part of the magic party!" Derek pulled Elena into the house.

The room was full of members of the Magic Association, the young heirs of various families, who were having a good time.

The low-level mages shamelessly stripped and kissed each other in public.

The dance floor was filled with magical geniuses dancing wildly, accompanied by automatically playing instruments.

“Good evening, Ms. Elena.” Victor raised his hands, the music and lights swaying with his steps as he slid down the armrest, drawing everyone’s attention. “You’ve come after all.”

"Long time no see, Victor. You're still the same playboy you always were." Elena crossed her arms over her chest.

“That’s all in the past. Elena, I’m so sorry!” Victor bowed deeply. “Forget the past… Now let’s dance.” He extended his hand in invitation.

Elena hesitated for a moment, then reached out her hand.

They danced passionately on the dance floor, gazed deeply into each other's eyes, and then couldn't resist embracing and kissing.

As midnight fell, I busied myself and finally finished the housework.

Looking at the empty bed on the other side, it seemed that Elena really wasn't coming back. I closed my eyes and quickly fell asleep.

"Bang!" I don't know how long I slept, but I felt someone hitting me with a slingshot.

"What's going on?" I looked around and found myself wearing pajamas, strapped to the living room ceiling, with Derek waving his fingers and smashing tomatoes in my face.

"Hahaha, you're finally awake." Derek's eyes were red, and he looked like he was under magical control.

"I learned this trick at a party. How did it taste?"

"Stop! Don't do that!" I reached out to block the rotten tomato that was coming at me.

"Spin!" Derek began casting a spell, and I spun uncontrollably, feeling dizzy.

This level of magic is definitely not something a magic apprentice like Derek could learn; someone must be manipulating him behind the scenes.

"Thank you for taking me home." Elena took Victor's arm and walked into the house.

"Boom!" I fell off the ceiling and landed awkwardly in front of them.

"Watch out!" Victor reached out and deployed a barrier to prevent Elena from being frightened.

"Do you really enjoy making a fool of yourself?" Elena was furious as she looked at me, who was covered in tomato juice in my pajamas.

I embarrassed her again in front of the guests.

"That's it!" I noticed a new necklace around Elena's neck, radiating an evil aura. "Wait! Darling!" I hadn't finished speaking.

"Get out!" she roared. I was blown away by a magical whirlwind, passing through walls layer by layer, until the whirlwind finally stopped in the attic storeroom.

"Ouch!" I rubbed my head, ignoring how badly I had fallen. I realized that Elena was wearing a very dangerous necklace, and I had to protect her from harm.

"You're really strict with your husband. Don't make things difficult for him. He's just an ordinary person, isn't he?" Victor teased me, noticing Elena's wavering.

"Let's go, I'll go show you how to use the new magical artifact I gave you."

Victor put his arm around Elena's waist, and the two walked into the room together.

She sat in front of her dressing table, admiring the black necklace Victor had given her at the ball, which seemed to radiate boundless energy under the embellishment of rubies.

"It's so beautiful. Cole has never given me anything nice. It's always just flowers." Elena threw our wedding photos and related items into the trash can.

I tiptoed to the bedroom door and peered through the crack to see what was happening inside.

Victor, with a greedy expression, was casting a spell on the dangerous necklace.

"Wait!" I shouted, bursting into the room and lunging at Elena.

They were all startled by me.

I pretended to step on the clothes scattered on the ground, lost my balance, and knocked Elena down with me.

"Watch out!" Victor activated a magic circle, and Elena landed as lightly as a feather.

I bumped my head into the cabinet.

"What are you doing! Are you crazy!" Elena pounded on me.

"Sorry, I thought it was a poisonous snake on your neck." I scratched my head and held up the necklace.

This black necklace has lost its luster, and the rubies on it no longer sparkle; it seems I broke it.

"I'm so sorry! I'll definitely pay for it!" Elena snatched the necklace back with a pained expression. "I'll have my dad pay for it for you!"

"No need! I have a whole cabinet full of things like this at home. Just pick whatever you like next time." Victor gritted his teeth, knowing I had ruined his plans.

He had a fierce look on his face, but Elena was completely unaware.
