Chapter 2 Two second intense gaze

“Good evening, gentlemen, I’ll be your waitress for the evening. May I take your orders, please?” I greeted them with a professional smile.

They looked up. One remained nonchalant while the blonde guy smirked at me before spreading his eyes all over my figure.

With the tattooed neck filled designs and his lower lip ring piercing, he looked more of a thug than a businessman. “What's your name, sweetheart?”

I blinked at his friendly tone.

“It's Raya, Sir,” I replied, unwillingly.

“May I have your orders?” I repeated myself, still being polite. He chuckled and leaned back on his chair, his lust filled eyes never leaving me.

“You see! The man who called us here is not here yet, He likes to keep us waiting. So we’ll order l when his so- called presence finally arrives. But you can entertain us till then!” He crossed his one leg on another with laziness.

What am I, a museum?

The bell chimed again, giving me an excuse to escape.

“Sir, please take your time, I will come later for your order. Excuse me.” I turned hastily, only to collide with something hard.

My breath hitched as I staggered backward. Realizing it was a man, my hand instinctively reached for something to steady myself but I couldn’t hold anything.

He didn’t even bother catching me. I landed hard on my butt with a painful thump.

“Wooooh!” Someone cracked up behind me.

My butts throbbed and I clenched my jaw before raising my head to glare at the man who caused me this embarrassment.

But as soon as I looked up, the dark silver eyes pinned me to the ground, stilled. I froze on the ground.

The man stared down at me with complete indifference. His intimidating gaze and aura was something unquestionable and intense. He stood all tall and utterly unbothered, one hand buried in his pocket.

“Mr Mcmillian!” The blonde man from earlier stood up to greet him.

Oh! So this mean jerk is Mr. McMillian.

Though he was the most exquisite man I have ever seen with his sharp features, dark silver eyes, and a trimmed beard complementing his fair complexion, giving him a rugged look. Still, none of it impressed me.

I hated men.

Nothing about them could impress me, not their looks, not their money.

And I could already tell arrogance ran through this man’s veins.

Arrogant jerk!

He blinked leisurely before stepping around me without a hint of apology. His gaze shifted behind me before returning to mine.

“Are you planning to stay like this?”

His deep and rough voice broke my reverie. His eyes showed utter disappointment as he gave me a bored look.

“You are blocking their way, Sweetheart.” The blondie commented.

I realized that the empty chairs were just behind me for them to sit.

I cleared my throat before grabbing my pad from the floor and rose to my height before sliding away. He walked past me, ignoring my existence.

His strong cologne hit my nose and my insides churned as I felt the air around me thicken. So those people are not boasting about the Mcmillian and his stone personality.

“Miss, are you okay?” Another man who accompanied him moved towards me. I nodded silently. “Thank you!” I whispered and straightened up. He also moved to sit beside his boss.

I squeezed my eyes shut, inhaling deeply and turning around.

Get a hold on yourself, Raya!

“May I take your orders?” I asked politely again. No, I wasn't using gentlemen because they were not.

After taking their orders, I asked the Barista to arrange everything on the pad. Just then Britney hurried to me. “Can I go and serve them?” she asked excitedly and her dark chocolate lipstick made me cringe. I sighed heavily. Did she waste minutes changing her makeup?

“I wish I could say yes but you cannot. Kelvin asked me to serve them personally, Britney and please don't ruin it for me. Don't create drama and disturb them in any way. They are not ordinary men but very wealthy people, McMillians to be precise.”

As soon as I finished her eyes widened. The worry and fear was inevitable on her face.

“Mcmillians?” she whispered.

I wrinkled my brows seeing her reaction. Britney never let the chance go to run to the billionaires. She didn't look pleased but frightened.

“Yes. What is it?” I enquired. She looked at me for a long minute.

“You..don't know who they are?” She scowled at me, keeping her voice low.

“I know them. They are well-known in the business field globally. Mr McMillian is one of the eligible billionaires in the country and today they are here in our small local Cafe. So what?” I sighed in frustration and repeated what I heard from other mouths.

“No..no. Not that. Don't you know what He is? Is he really here? Is Mr Noah Everton McMillan really here?”

Noah?

I raised my brows at her weird behavior but nodded anyway. Britney inhaled deeply and cursed under her breath.

“You are really getting on my nerves, Britney! If you don't have any work to do then don't disturb me and go help others in the kitchen.” I gritted and turned to arrange my coffee mugs.

“Raya! He.. He is a Mafia!”

My hands freezed and I craned my neck to look at her, unblinking.

“Come again?”

“He is a mafia man. The heartless, emotionless one. I heard and read in various journals and even the media is singing it all around but nobody has certain proof against him. But many had given their statements about his gruesome deeds. It's a different thing that those who spoke against him were not seen after that.”

“Britney, which club have you joined recently? What kinda weed are you taking?” I asked her, flaring my nose and narrowing my eyes. She looked at me with confusion.

“Don't effing riled me up and get out. Take this shit out of here.” I barked at her.

Oh god! Why are these people hell-bent on making my life a misery?

“But I am telling the truth. You shouldn't go there.” she insisted.

“Shut up and Listen, I am telling you….”

Suddenly we heard the loud sounds of crashing and breaking things followed by the wailing sound of someone. I jumped in my place, startled. Britney and I exchanged a worried look before steering out to see the source of the disturbance.

A cold shiver ran down my spine seeing the ugly scene. The blondie man was stained all over with blood. He was wailing in pain, hardly breathing, leaning his bloody head on the chair.

I gasped silently as he looked on the verge of passing out or more like dying. His buddy was looking at him with horror-filled eyes. The glass table crashed brutally like someone hit it hard enough to break it.

Did they hit his head on it?

While the other two, the McMillian men were seated calmly, unaffected. But then they stood up and the arrogant Jerk said something to the friend of injured Bondie. Then both of them turned to leave the Cafe. I was rooted there, shocked and terrified.

“Oh my god! Is he dead?” Britney whispered behind me. I was not sure myself. I shook my head mutely as my eyes followed his walking figure in a trance as he walked past me.

And that two-second intense gaze he threw at me before walking out of the Cafe, froze my body in terror.
