Chapter 5 Arrogant jerk

Good god!

Britney's words buzzed in my ears. I sighed in frustration as the blood on his stomach flashed in my vision.

What if he is really in the Mafia and punished me for this?

I felt embarrassed for not engaging with news channels despite Riley’s suggestion. I should have learned about this company and its owner before running here for the job.

What a shame! He must be thinking I'm desperate.

The man before me cleared his throat, breaking my reverie. I found amusement in his features. He must be thinking I was a fool.

I was contemplating whether to get lost or go inside. I didn't have the courage to ask for a job from that arrogant jerk but still, this job was so important to me. I could only try, keeping my self-respect at bay.

"Sir had to complete an important task so he took a break during the interview session. I apologise, I didn't have the time to inform you. You see that's why we are looking for the personal assistant for Mr McMillian due to workload. I have to run important errands for him and we are unable to find a suitable and hard working PA at this time. So we opened this emergency vacancy. But you shouldn't have acted on your own and now you just left a bad impression on him!” Ryker said to me with a sad smile.

Bad impression?

So the vacancy was for the PA. But why didn't they mention it specifically?

“You still want to give this a chance? If yes, then I can get the affirmation of Mr McMillan regarding your interview." He suggested.

“Please!” I merely nodded, still feeling embarrassed.

“Okay, wait here till I get back.” He walked away. I sighed.

Great! This day has become another joke of my life.

After five minutes, Ryker returned and asked me to go inside.

"Mr Mcmillan is available now. You can go inside, Ms. Storm." He said with a straight face. I furrowed my brows.

Did his boss scold him?

I walked towards his office, composing myself. I was about to open the door when his words reminded me.

Manners!

I knocked on the door twice.

"Come in." A calm manly voice sounded from the other side. I opened the door slowly and entered inside.

He was sitting on the chair while staring at my CV file in his hand with a straight face. I walked near his table but stood silently, not voicing anything.

Here goes my manners!

"Take your seat, Ms storm." He said without taking his eyes off the file. I sat on the chair and waited for his interrogation or possible insult, too hesitant to start a conversation with him.

"You have not graduated yet."

And here we go!

It was just a statement but this statement always reminds me of the hurricane eruption in my life which not only swallowed my precious teenage years and good lifestyle but also caused me to drop my studies.

"Right. Something unexpected happened in my family so I had to drop myself out of university." I replied. Finally, his silver eyes turned to me.

"So what about your work experience?" He asked while giving me an impassive look. Seeing his void face I wondered if he had to compete with a human robot, who would win.

"I have one year of work experience in accounting management and worked as an assistant in my previous job in a marketing company. I have been a chief editor for my high school and college newspapers so...."

"I didn't ask for extra curriculum activities, Ms Storm. They are already stated in your CV." He interrupted, making me shut my mouth.

Oh well, why did you ask then?

"I asked only about your past jobs, real experiences? When did you leave your last job?" He asked.

"I left my previous job due to some personal reasons and as mentioned in my CV, I'm currently working in a cafe," I told him though he already knew that.

"It seems like you are surrounded with personal problems and unforeseen happenings in your life." He stated which left out like a mock by his mouth.

I squeezed my lips to control my running tongue. Surely, I needed to be patient today if I had to deal with this outcast billionaire.

"Tell me, Ms Storm, you are not well qualified, clumsy and have the guts to speak boldly. How can I hire someone without basic manners? You had the audacity to enter my office without permission and bumped into me being ignorant about your surroundings. It's a nostalgic feeling, ain't it?" He commented with a twitch on his upper lip.

Control Raya, control.

I knew he was deliberately getting on my nerves by bringing up our first encounter and my so-called manners by bumping into his mighty robotic existence.

"I apologised for it, Sir. As I mentioned earlier, I was waiting for more than an hour so I walked inside when nobody approached me after the given time expired." I explained.

"So you assumed it wise to walk inside my office without permission on your first day to a new place. You should have waited outside even if you had to wait the entire day if you needed this job.”

And I swear that I bit my tongue hard, controlling it from running. I knew I could sputter colourful things to him if he kept going like this. If he thinks that I was desperate for this job, he was delusional.

“Ms Storm, in my company, I don't stand ill manners, impatience, tardiness and imperfections. Before wishing to work at a prominent and respected place, You must know about the basic code of conduct." He stated.

Can I bang your robotic head on that black shiny wall? This will be my code of conduct, bloody Arrogant jerk.

Oh gosh..This man is insanely infuriating. No, I don't have any interest in working for him. I don't wish to see his stoic face, let alone work for him.

"I understand, Sir." I nodded with a clenched smile. Because I couldn't curse him openly. Who knows? He is a damn mafia for all I know.

He stared at me for a long minute.

"You will get a call within a week if you are needed for this job, Ms Storm. You may leave now." He dismissed me, sliding my CV file towards me on the desk.

Oh, I know that call might never happen.

I took my file and stood up. Without another word, I walked out of his office room.

Go to hell, Jerk. I don't need your job.

"Storm, did it go well?" I heard Ryker’s voice. I stopped on my steps and  looked at his hopeful features, at least he was good to me.

"No, It never did."

I said and walked ahead to get out of there with the intention to forget this day in my life not knowing that my destiny had already been signed up here.

But not for good!
