Chapter 6 A piece Of Advice
"What? You've enrolled in the Yeager Academy?" Levi looked quite surprised after hearing Nami's admission that she had enrolled in the Yeager Academy.
Nami nodded happily after telling Levi. She wanted to tell him that she would always follow him. Her mouth was filled with pasta with her favorite bolognese sauce.
Levi paused for a moment as if contemplating something. He wasn't really sure if becoming a Yeager would allow Nami's powers and talents to be properly channeled, as he still had other concerns, especially about ERI. The group would most likely target Nami if they found out she was an esper with immense power.
"You look unhappy, Levi. Did I do something wrong again?" She asked guiltily every time Levi showed a very serious expression after hearing her answer.
Levi sighed, then took a sip of his favorite cup of black coffee. He knew he was overly concerned about Nami. Despite Nami's frequent troublemaking and frequent spotlight, the ERI members never tried to disturb her. Either because they knew Nami's powers were dangerous, or because they were always there to protect her from the possibility of her being used as a guinea pig in the central laboratory.
"No, it's nothing. So, when are you starting training?" Levi asked.
"Next week, I'll be staying in the dormitory until I finish my training, which will be about two years." Nami suddenly became gloomy after telling Levi that she would be staying in the dormitory.
"Why are you so gloomy?"
"N-no, it's nothing! I just feel a little relieved because after this, it seems I won't be a problem for you anymore, Levi. I'll be staying in the dormitory, and by default, I won't be staying in the laboratory anymore. That way, I won't cause any more trouble by destroying anything."
"Have you always felt like you were causing trouble?" Levi looked at her with a sad, yet cold gaze. Levi's eyes were Nami's weakness. Every time he looked at her like that, it immediately reminded her of her mistakes.
Nami lowered her head. She didn't want Levi to hate her, and she always felt that he couldn't possibly hate her. No matter how big a mistake she made, Levi would always be there to help her fix it. But she knew that Levi might not always be on her side, and that made her feel sad.
"I wanted to make you proud. I felt like I couldn't do anything right, and without realizing it, I'd caused you too much trouble. So this time, I'll try. I'll make you proud of me!" She said confidently.
Levi looked at Nami, who looked so confident and enthusiastic with his words. It made her feel a little relieved that Nami was finally where she belonged.
"I never felt like you were causing trouble, so don't ever think that way again, do you understand?"
"I'm sorry, Levi! I didn't mean to-" Nami couldn't continue her words. Once again, she felt like she had said something wrong.
"Also, if you're on leave from training, come home!"
"G-Go home?"
"To your home. The lab is your home, and as long as I'm alive, it will always be your home. You can come home whenever you want, do you understand?"
Nami felt a strong tremor in her chest that almost brought tears to her eyes. She knew Levi was a very kind person. Although many people considered him arrogant, cold, and unapproachable, he was actually a very kind and warm person.
"Yes, I understand."
"Okay, let's go!" Levi said, getting up from his chair after paying for their meal.
"W-Where?"
"You'll be staying in the dormitory? That's why we have to buy new clothes and all the supplies you'll need for training."
"N-no need to bother, Levi! I'll just bring the clothes and stuff I already have. You don't have to buy me new ones. Besides, you must be really busy, right? You don't have to force yourself to take me shopping. Really, I'm fine with what I have, Levi!"
"You'll be busy after this, and we'll probably see each other less often. So, I'll spare you a little time. But if you don't want to, I won't force you—"
Braaakkkk...
"W-Who said I don't want to?" Nami quickly stopped Levi's words. Although she knew this would make her seem impolite, she couldn't waste a golden opportunity like this, especially if Levi was the one inviting her. She knew Levi was extremely wealthy. He was born into a wealthy family of scientists and businessmen, making him the fourth generation of a family that had been extremely wealthy since his great-grandfather's time. Now, Levi was one of the most influential scientists of this century. His personal wealth was undoubtedly substantial as well.
Levi was a little surprised when Nami suddenly rose from her seat and slammed the table. Everyone in the restaurant stared at them. Most of them recognized Levi as a renowned scientist, but they couldn't understand why a scientist like Levi would want to deal with a poor, homeless person like Nami.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" Nami became hysterical, accidentally breaking the table.
Meanwhile, Levi could only sigh, he had to incur another unexpected expense today because of Nami.
"Never mind, I'll pay for it. Let's go!"
"O-okay, Levi!" Nami immediately got up and followed Levi. Everyone in the room was talking. She didn't know what they were talking about, but she knew for certain that someone like her didn't deserve to be near the most precious person in the eyes of many right now.
