Chapter 6

Noah

Where am I?

Panic grips me as I quickly look around the room. I’m overwhelmed with scents as my brain tries to catch up to my surroundings. There are several people in the room and a multitude of unfamiliar scents but then I smell it. A sweet but powerful scent that lingered around me just before everything went dark. My eyes snap to a beautiful woman standing only a couple of feet away from me. When she realizes I've noticed her she smiles.

“Hi. You’re awake.” Her voice is soft but with an edge to it…an Alpha’s edge.

She’s an Alpha…

“Don’t worry. No one is going to hurt you here.” She holds her hands up as if she’s worried I’ll freak out.

I watch her move closer and she kneels next to me on the couch. “How are you feeling?” She asks.

I’m speechless. She’s beautiful and her scent is nothing like I've ever smelt before. It’s spreading over me like a blanket and locking itself deep inside me. My body starts to quiver at the sensation and her expression shifts to one of concern. She moves to stand but I reach out in a panic and grab her arm.

“Please. Don’t go.” My voice shakes as the fear of her leaving me hits me.

“I won’t.” She says as she covers my hand with hers. “I won’t leave you. But can you tell us your name? Is there someone we can call for you?”

Reality sets in. Crap, the guys must be freaking out right now! I need to call them.

“Yes if I can borrow a phone.” I let her go and push myself up.

“Of course.” She stands sliding a cell phone out of her pocket and offers it to me.

When our hands touch as I take the phone a spark ignite along my skin. Our eyes lock and hers widen a little but with a blink it’s gone. Did I imagine that or did she feel it too?

“Thank you.” I quickly type in Roman’s number and wait.

It only rings once. “Hello?”

“Ro, it’s me,” I say softly.

“Thank god. Noah where the hell are you?” His voice is angry and rightly so, but I cringe at the sound.

Roman took on the role of our packs leader, and because of that he’s always calm. “Sorry. I went for a walk to clear my head and got turned around. Look…something happened but I’m alright. I’ll give you the address of where I am, and you can come pick me up.”

“Okay, tell me.”

I look to the beautiful Alpha. “Can you give me the address to this place?”

She holds her hand out for the phone and I reluctantly hand it to her.

“Hello? The address is….” She tells Roman the address but then her mouth tightens. “Wait a second now…”

There is a silent moment before she scoffs. “Well, maybe you shouldn’t have let your Omega pack mate alone. If I hadn’t been there he would have been kidnapped and used by a club of horny dangerous Alphas. Now hurry your ass up.”

She ends the call and lets out a huff. “Asshole.”

A snicker comes from behind her and she turns to look at a man standing there. “What?”

The guy holds his hands up. “Nothing princess.”

She turns back to me and rolls her eyes. “Your Alpha is a piece of work.” She says to me.

“He’s not my Alpha. He’s not an Alpha at all.” I tell her.

Her brows furrow. “Why didn’t you call your Alpha?”

I glance down at my hands and fidget. “Because I don’t have one. My pack is all Betas except for me.”

“What?” There’s an edge to her voice that makes me flinch a little and curl into myself.

“We’ll give you two a minute. All of us in here is probably overwhelming him.” The big guy says to the woman.

She smiles at him as he passes. “Thanks pop.”

“You got it, kid.” He squeezes her shoulder and tugs the other guy out with him leaving the Alpha and me alone.

“I’m sorry if I scared you.” She says and I lift my head long enough to watch her crouch down again.

“Y-you didn’t.” I stutter.

“Do you want me to have one of the other guys wait with you? They’re Betas-“

“No!” I say a little too loudly. “I want to stay with you.”

I hate how small and desperate my voice sounds but I don’t want her to go. She saved me from those men and right now she’s the only person I feel safe with. The reminder of what she did for me starts to help clear up the fog in my head and the full extent of what happened hits me. Panic, fear and relief all come washing over me in a wave. My head starts to spin and it suddenly feels too had to breathe.

Oh god…I could have… they could have…

“Hey. Hey. It’s okay. No one is going to hurt you.” The Alpha's gentle voice does little to break through.

Her voice sounds far away compared to roaring in my ears. The sound of those men's voices…their laughter at the pain they inflicted on me…the possibilities of what they could do to me. Everything.

My body jolts out of all that when someone rests their hand on mine. That soft voice cuts through everything and suddenly all of those things are gone. I open my eyes to see the Alpha is squeezing my hands in her.

“It’s okay. I’m here. No one will ever touch you again.” She says as if it were a promise she actually intended on keeping.

But how could she say that? How could she promise that? A stranger who doesn’t know a thing about me. Someone I know my pack will look down on even though she saved my life.

“How?” I blurt out.

She gives me a confused look. “How what?”

“How are you going to protect me? You don’t even know my name.”

Her lip quirks up slightly. “I  know your name, Noah.”

My eyes widen. “How-“

“Your pack mate was yelling it when he accused me of hurting you or something. It was hard to tell since he was ranting so much.” She lets out an amused laugh. “He’s something else.”

I let out a laugh of my own. “He is but he’s just protective of me. I was being stupid.”

She shakes her head. “You said you got lost. That’s not your fault.”

“I was being stupid and reckless. The guys are going to be furious, not just Roman.” I feel the dread of hearing them each tell me how stupid I was.

“Hey, if they make you feel and after what you’ve been through I’ll have a few words to say about it. Mistake or not, nothing that happened was your fault. It was the fault of the men that hurt you. Got it?” Her turn tone and pointed look has me nodding in agreement.

She’s right. I didn’t ask to be assaulted, but those men were going to do it anyway because to them I was weak. Being an Omega makes me less strong but I’m not helpless.

“Thank you. For helping me-“ I give her a look and she smiles.

“Aria.”

“Thank you for helping me Aria.”

“You’re welcome, Noah.” We’re smiling at each other when the door flies open and a flurry of men spills into the room.

My pack.

“Noah! Holy shit bro!” Jaxon says before he sees Aria standing in front of me.

She’d jumped to her feet and moved to stand directly in front of me as if she were ready to protect me again.
