Chapter 5 Ruggedly Handsome

The reason for my shock is the name. Even though I have never paid attention to pack gossip or news around the world, I have still heard of Alpha Orion Nightfang and his pack.

The Blackmoon Sovereign Pack is one of the most powerful packs in the world.

As for Alpha Orion, even his fellow Alphas do not want to face him. He is that fearsome.

Despite being so feared, every female wishes to be his mate, since being his better half comes with wealth and power.

Now I am even more determined not to take up their offer. A powerful pack like that would never accept me. Worse, they would treat me like garbage.

“I am grateful for your kind gesture, but I have to turn you down,” I insisted.

Carol frowned. It was obvious she was angry. I would be too if I were in her shoes.

Imagine the richest man in the country asking a pauper to come live with him, and the pauper still turns him down.

That must be what Carol was feeling.

Vincent, on the other hand, only smiled and shook his head.

“I am sorry, it is not an offer you can refuse,” he said, and I instantly became vigilant.

“What do you mean?” I asked as I took a step back.

Instead of answering my question, Vincent raised his hands and muttered some magical words.

That was all I heard before everything went dark.

“Remember, only give this to the one you feel safe with,” my mom said as she handed me the necklace with the luminous pearl pendant.

I looked behind her and saw my father in his wolf form, tearing apart the rogues that had come to attack us.

“My princess, I am sorry, I am so sorry,” my mother apologized, and I wondered why she was apologizing.

I felt she should focus more on running away or helping my dad instead of apologizing.

Before I could fully understand what was happening, my mother placed her hand on my chest, and a sharp pain shot through me, forcing a scream out of my throat.

“I am only doing this to…”

I instantly woke up.

The first thing that registered was the pounding headache.

This was not the first time I had woken up with such a headache, so I closed my eyes and waited for it to pass. It usually faded after a few minutes.

The headaches only come when I have these dreams, but this is the first time I can clearly remember the dream after waking up.

In the past, I would forget everything the moment I opened my eyes.

But instead of dwelling on the dream, I became more concerned about the environment I found myself in.

As the headache eased, my senses slowly returned. The scent was the first thing I registered.

A soft smell of lavender mixed with citrus filled the air. It was completely different from the woody scent of the forest.

Then I felt the softness beneath me.

I could not remember the last time I had lain on such a comfortable mattress.

I looked around, and the room spoke of luxury, the kind even the Wolfblood Pack could not boast of.

I sat up and noticed I was wearing a new silky nightwear. Alarm shot through me at once. They might have taken the only thing I owned in this world.

My eyes darted around until I spotted my backpack lying on the desk beside the bed.

I rushed toward it and opened it immediately.

The small box was still inside.

My hands trembled slightly as I opened it, and when I saw the necklace still resting within, I let out a breath I did not realize I had been holding.

Relief washed over me.

I tried to focus, to sense my surroundings or hear anything unusual, but no matter how hard I tried, I felt nothing.

I could not find my clothes, and the nightgown I was wearing was not something I could use to escape.

I walked to the wardrobe, hoping to find something suitable.

The moment I opened it, I froze.

It was a walk-in wardrobe, vast and beautifully arranged. It would not be an exaggeration to say it was bigger than Anita’s entire room.

Rows of luxurious clothes were neatly arranged, fabrics of silk, velvet, and fine cotton catching the soft light. Elegant gowns flowed like liquid against their hangers, while tailored outfits stood with quiet authority.

Shelves lined the walls, filled with designer shoes, polished heels, and boots of every kind. Handbags of different shapes and sizes were displayed like treasures, each one more exquisite than the last.

I slowly stepped inside, my fingers brushing lightly against the fabrics. They felt soft and expensive, far beyond anything I had ever worn.

Even someone like me, who was hardly moved by material things, could not help but feel overwhelmed.

In the end, I hesitated. I was almost afraid to wear any of them.

After a moment of indecision, I chose a simple pair of pants and a top.

I was sure they were still expensive, but they looked like the least extravagant option. More importantly, they would allow me to move freely if I needed to run.

I removed the nightwear, and my eyes caught my reflection in the full-length mirror beside me.

Standing there, completely bare, I could see the marks etched across my body.

Patches of my skin were tinted purple from bruises. Some were recent, still dark and painful, while others were older, remnants from my time in the Wolfblood Pack.

Yet despite all of that, I was still considered beautiful.

A small, almost uncertain smile formed on my lips before I quickly put on the clothes I had chosen.

Once I was fully dressed, I stepped out of the wardrobe.

But the moment I did, I froze.

A man was sitting on my bed.

He looked up, and his crimson eyes locked onto mine, holding me in place. For some reason, they felt strangely familiar.

His gaze slowly roamed over me, and without realizing it, I found myself doing the same.

There were only two words to describe the man before me.
