Chapter 3 Chapter 3
Seraphine’s POV
Your silence was defeat, Get up.
The whispers were loud, it echoed through my core. I hated it but I couldn't ignore it either.
Get up Seraphine.
Again! I drew my ears closer to my body but the echo got louder,
Get up Seraphine, your silence was defeat, they celebrate while you are stuck.
Something wasn’t right but I couldn't place it, my feet suddenly itched, the uncomfortable sensation that could drive me mad. I had to leave, I have no idea how but I had to leave, I thought desperately.
“Bamn!”
It landed hard—or maybe I did.
Reluctantly I opened my eyes, the light was blinding,I closed it again and scrunched up my nose—or maybe I think I did,
I just hated the lighting, a little less than I hated the annoying voice.
Seraphine, your silence was defeat.
Right again! The annoying voice. I had to teach it some manners so I managed to open my eyes, the light had dimmed, faded enough to reveal the intruder,
In front of me stood a werewolf, its silvery fur shimmered with illumination, it had blue appealing eyes. I tried to get up on my feet and move close to it but I was stuck, I couldn't move and it didn’t move closer either. It just studied me like a freaking experiment.
Arrogant one.
“What are you? Or would you rather prefer I say who?” I said arrogantly matching its energy.
“I am you.” Its melodious voice responded.
Could I have scoffed? I don’t know, I just had to look around.
Beneath my feet was ice but I wasn’t cold, and the vastness of the land was incredible.
“Where are we?” I questioned it.
“In you.” It responded curtly.
Now I had to scoff, was this some sick joke?
“No lies could be told here Seraphine, I am you, your Lycan wolf, trapped in your subconscious since inception. The last of our kind , And this is your mind, the world that only you could ever know.”
Make it make sense would have been my next words but I didn’t get to say it before it blabbered on, every question in my heart gets answered before I conceive the thought.
“…..in all Seraphine, you have to face your foes, they rejoice while you are silenced. Now that the heavenly seal has been unleashed, I will aid you.”
Why do I need help? I conjured the thought, but I instantly regret that I did,
Images of my life were spread before me, my lonely childhood, my marriage to Damian, the birth of my pups and their death.
I panted hard,
I will aid you to fight back Seraphine.
My pups had died, no one cared! Rage filled me, I had questions but I am not ready to know, all I want is the power to avenge my losses, I wouldn’t mind plunging to the last pit of hell afterwards.
“Help me white wolf.” I said.
Take my hand Seraphine.
I wasn’t sure how it happened but the distance between us suddenly shrank, I was clutched tightly to her limbs as a beeping sound intensified.
I gasped suddenly and sneezed.
The beeping sound didn’t stop and I managed to open my eyes. The white wolf had disappeared, instead a man in white loomed over me.
“Mrs Ravencrest, can you hear me?”
I know that voice already, he had delivered bad news to me twice.
“Mrs Ravencrest, can you see my fingers?”
“Doctor Lance, I think she is still in the trance, should I inject the…….”
I looked to my left and stared at the nurse, the words died in her throat.
“I am okay,” I said and sat up from the bed, beside my fatigued vertebrae column, I was perfectly fine, “…and I am going home.”
“No ma’am, don’t get up so fast, you just woke up.” Doctor Lance said and tried to keep me in place.
“Doctor, you told me yesterday that my pups died, I need to see them one last time before….”
The duo exchanged looks.
“Mrs Ravencrest, that’s not possible anymore, it’s been two months.”
I jumped up pushing Doctor Lance aside.
Two whooping months had passed.
“Damn, you are undeniably strong Mrs Ravencrest but you need to rest and recover your body.” The doctor said pitifully.
“I do not need a sympathetic doctor, I need to go home.”
Home! What used to be home.
The doctor finally granted my wish after two long hours of proving myself to be healthy and fit. Now that I was in the cab home, I remembered something I had missed.
My loneliness never stopped.
I had woken up to it, no one was by my bedside except the doctor, there was no one waiting in the hospital lobby for me, I had no warm food kept purposefully waiting for my awakening.
I plugged in an AirPod to keep the painful thoughts away, everyone had to be busy, I had been gone for two months, it is expected Seraphine.
The slow music lifted my spirit, just like old times before motherhood. As I closed my eyes, the clearest thing in my mind was the white wolf, it’s adorable beauty, it’s melodramatic voice.
“Ma’am, we are here.”
I opened my eyes to the familiar world, the smell of pine and ash filled my nostrils. I alighted from the car and the driver bid me farewell before he zoomed off.
Ravencrest pack house,
I placed my hand on the crest by the gate, a three-headed gold beast stature. To mere humans, this was merely a beautiful piece of art loved by the house owner but to the other world they never knew existed, this was a territorial signal, the home of the pack Alpha,
A pack that I was known as its Luna.
I pushed through the gate and it swung open. I looked down at my palm, my agility unbelievably stronger. And there was another thing,my left thumb appears swollen and a half moon sign slanted across it.
“Oh my goodness! Mrs Ravencrest,”
In a jiffy, the maids had gathered around me, everyone had pity in their gazes. But something else was happening,
I could smell their emotions,
Surprise and fear dominating.
“Where is Alpha….where is Damian?” I blurted out.
“Luna, you…you look different, your hair.” One of the maids pointed out in awe.
I turned around to the mirror behind me, I was perplexed, my initial black shiny curly hair was Snow White and tangled in a weird way. My amber eyes had turned ocean blue.
What the heck was this?
I faced the maids again. My voice, clearly authoritative.
“I asked a question earlier, where is Damian?”
They hesitated, exchanged looks several times but I waited patiently with my piercing gaze moving from one to another until one of them couldn’t hold back.
“He went to Blackwood estate.”
My parents' house?
“Miss Selena had been traumatized since…the attack, he went there to soothe her.” Another added.
My AirPod fell out,
Nothing had changed, not even my tragedy did any good.
I was left in the hospital to myself but Selena was still the priority.
My feet felt weary but it kept moving, the maids moved out of my way, I didn’t know what I was doing but I ended up in the back of the pack house where my pups were buried. Their pictures and name plates are boldly displayed.
I drifted my hand through it and fresh rage engulfed me.
“I swear on your death that I will pay every cent of the evil that was done to us.”
The illuminated wolf stirred in the corner of my heart, I could see it, feel it, own it.
You are finally ready my Lycan queen.
