Chapter 4 Chapter 4

Seraphine’s POV

The cold lingered—not in the air but in my heart.

My black see-through dress clings tightly to my pale skin. I had dropped my hair to the fullness of its glory, my red velvet lipstick shone brightly illuminating the green of my eyes.

I was phenomenal.

Just as the badass ones, only that I was still Seraphine. The very one that had lost it all and had nothing more to lose.

“Mrs Ravencrest, the car is ready.” The bald driver called out to me.

Mrs Ravencrest! I was suddenly nauseated by that title.

I gracefully walked down to the car garage ignoring the stares of the maids. As the car zoomed off, I took a long look at the house, no memory of it was even fun, all seemed too mundane. The drive was long and weary, I would have rather loved to turn to my wolf and run over there but that would kill the magical moment in my heart.

The car came to an abrupt stop and I looked out of the window,

“Mrs Ravencrest, we are here.”

The Blackwood mansion sign stood tall. The home I used to have, the genesis of my loneliness.

I got out of the car and walked down to the entrance, the gate was open just as it always was, my parents were always that audacious. Theft and robbery didn’t seem like a big problem to them but it never happened because for some reason, the humans had always kept away from our house.

The door opened up and I entered,

As expected, gasps filled my ear.

“Oh my goodness! Seraphine, you are awake, the hospital never called.” My mother shouted and rushed towards me.

I almost scoffed but I managed to keep my expression neutral and unreadable.

Just as it was in the Ravencrest mansion, the maids here didn’t respect me any better but today, they all stared blankly at me.

“Where is Damian?” I questioned.

My father scoffed, “Is Damian all you think about? You haven’t seen your parents in two months and you only care about your husband.”

I didn’t respond, he had emotionally blackmailed me too many times as a child that I learnt how cunning my father had always been. My mother didn’t draw back, she kept staring intently at me.

“Seraphine, your hair! Your eyes! Did you get a face job done after you woke up?” My mother blurted out and tried to touch my hair, I took two steps backwards avoiding her.

I closed my eyes and smelt the air, a realization hit me, I smirked, Damian’s smell was coming from Selena’s room, right up stairs. Without another word, I climbed the stairs and all eyes followed my stride.

“Even her scent is different, are you sure that is Seraphine?” I overheard my mother’s voice talking to my dad,

I didn’t care as I turned towards Selena’s room, a familiar guitar sound came from there.

“Bamn !” I bursted the door open,

There they were, a famous human guitarist, my favorite, sat on a chair while playing his craft. Selena sat on the bed with her head resting on Damian’s shoulder. While his Beta Kael stood right beside him.

“Seraphine!” Selena whispered, shocked.

I balled my fist and turned towards the guitarist.

“Get out.”

He didn’t argue, he picked up his guitar and walked out of the room, right before my parents rushed in. Selena adjusted herself. Damian got up on his feet and walked towards me. His brows were furrowed and he looked weary.

“Booking that human cost me a fortune, it was rude of you to intrude like that.”

“Oh darling, I have missed you too.” I responded.

“Sister, I didn’t know you were awake, thank the moon goddess, I have been worried all along because…..”

“Save the rest of your dirge Selena, I didn’t come here for you.”

I heard it, her thumping heart, she stared intently at me, her eyes focused on my silvery hair. My return seemed to make everyone uneasy—just as I liked it to be.

“Damian, I want a divorce,” I took one step closer to him, “Break our mate bond.”

“What? Are you insane, Seraphine.” My father yelled.

I ignored the old hag.

“No, I won’t.” Damian responded smoothly.

It was his audacity for me, treating me wrong and yet refusing to let go of me.

“Why?” I said softly.

“I can’t grant you a divorce Seraphine.” Damian said.

I furrowed my brow at him and laughed.

“Is this you feeling remorseful or what? We have passed that my Alpha, it is common knowledge that the one you truly love is right there.” I pointed towards Selena.

“And the affection seemed…mutual, so cut me loose or you want to mate with both of us?”

“Don’t say that Seraphine, Damian is your fated mate, he is only trying to help your sister recover from her injuries.” My mother interrupted.

“While I lay in the hospital bed alone for two months!” I pointed out.

My parents couldn’t respond to my accusation, everyone turned to face Damian, hoping for a solution from the Ravencrest Alpha.

But he was mute.

“File for the divorce Damian, that is what is best for both of us.”

“No! that would be too easy,” he said glaring at me, “Being stuck with me and starved of love is your punishment.”

“Please don’t fight her, Damian, she is just recovering from her illness.” Selena pleaded but neither of us was listening, we were both glaring harshly at each other.

“What crime Damian? Loving you wholeheartedly?” I said.

“Hypocrite! That is what you are Seraphine Blackwood,” Damian retorted, “You cheated on me and still have the audacity to pretend to love me.”

“Cheated on you?” I paused bewildered, “I have never cheated on you before.”

“Quit the pretense, I saw you, that night, mourning loudly beneath Kael.” Damian yelled and pointed at his Beta.

“What! Alpha Damian.” Kael called out.

“You disgusting lying asshole! Lies Damian. Your Beta and I have no sexual relationship whatsoever.”

Damian disgusts me, after all he had done to hurt me, no remorse whatsoever instead, he accuses me of infidelity.

Suddenly, I was the slut to everyone. This time, they weren’t ignoring me, they were accusing me, their stares said a thousand words.

Kael’s expression was grave, he tried to explain but no one gave him the chance, not even me.

I closed m

y eyes and reached deep into my subconscious mind, inviting my Lycan wolf to the feast.

She honored it, she came on but my joy deflated once she said her first words.

“Seraphine, relax, Damian is telling the truth.”

I cheated?
