Chapter 11

Hatingly, he rubbed his bald head and said, “Since you’re determined to oppose me, then I have no reason to protect you anymore. Mona Mini will take over this bar now. All the arrangements have been made. Remember, this is something you brought upon yourself.”

Marian White gently closed her eyes. She hadn’t expected this day to come so soon. Lord Six still felt resentful and said harshly, “Let me tell you the truth. You signed a three-year contract with the guild. You’ll have to bear the cost of my losses. Just keep working as a waitress in this bar!”

Marian White knew that this was Lord Six’s way of putting her on her knees, forcing her to admit her mistakes and hand over Burke Woolley. Lord Six thought that a beauty like Marian White, with her icy demeanor, was actually quite delicate and wouldn’t be able to endure hardship. After all, he had once promoted her to such a high position, so falling back to being just a waitress would be unbearable for her.

But he was wrong. Marian White isn’t the kind of woman who rises to power through her beauty alone. Leaving aside her early struggles in society, where she relied on her own abilities, it seems Lord Six has forgotten that she’s reached her current position entirely through her own efforts. She’s nothing like Mona Mini or similar people.

Marian White smiled gently, then said in a composed manner, “Don’t worry. I’ll definitely compensate you for whatever Lord Six has damaged. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave now.” With that, she turned and left. Lord Six watched her indifferent demeanor and felt as though he had punched into cotton.

He also didn’t expect that Marian White would be so unyielding to either persuasion or pressure. He had initially wanted to help her out, since she was deeply involved in this matter. But after seeing her attitude, he immediately lost all interest in helping her.

After Marian White stepped out, Mona Mini rushed over to greet her. She wanted to see the regret and sadness on Marian White’s face after losing her position. But it was clear that her wish wasn’t fulfilled. Marian White’s face remained expressionless, with no trace of sadness whatsoever.

Instead, seeing how nervous Mona Mini was as she approached, Marian White couldn’t help but feel a hint of mockery. Mona Mini opened her mouth as if to mock Marian White, but upon seeing Marian White’s calm expression, she couldn’t say a word.

Marian White watched the changes in her expression with satisfaction, then said indifferently, “Congratulations! You’ve worked so hard to get this position. Now, you need to hold on to it firmly.” With that, she turned and left.

Mona Mini never expected that, having reached this point, Marian White could still remain so calm and composed. What on earth was going through that woman’s mind? Any other woman at this point would have been crying and making a scene.

Mona Mini stomped her foot in frustration at her rival’s graceful figure. “Marian White, don’t be so smug! Anyway, you’re under my control now. Let me see how I’ll deal with you!” Then, she quickly put on another seductive smile, pulled her clothes down slightly, and shyly went inside.

Lord Six was angry about this matter. He hadn’t expected that Marian White would refuse to comply with his demands, no matter how he tried to persuade her. This made Lord Six feel frustrated. But when he saw Mona Mini approaching, his anger subsided a little. He then put on a smiling face, showing Mona Mini proper respect.

Mona Mini sat gently beside Lord Liu. Boldly, she reached her hand up along Lord Liu’s leg. Then, in a coquettish voice, she said, “Lord Liu, there’s no need to get angry over such an ungrateful woman. After all, I’m still here. I certainly won’t let you get upset.”

Lord Six pinched Mona Mini’s cheek, then said, “Only you can make me worry less. I’m telling you, although I’ve entrusted the bar to your management this time, you’d better be careful. If anything goes wrong, I won’t spare you!”

Upon hearing this, Mona Mini clenched her hands secretly. It seemed that this man still put his own interests first. Although she had risen to this position, much of the real power still lay in the hands of Lord Six. She wasn’t as capable as Marian White. It seemed she would have to rely on this man more in the days to come.

Mona Mini wore an even sweeter smile at this thought. Then, she placed her little hand on Lord Liu’s chest and traced circles around it, saying, “Of course I understand. I definitely won’t cause any trouble for Lord Liu. Besides, that bar belongs to Lord Liu anyway. I’m just managing it temporarily.”

These words filled Lord Six with pleasure. It seems that a woman should be as delicate and charming as Mona Mini. Then, Mona Mini’s gaze became affectionate and teasing, making Lord Six feel thrilled as well. Soon, the two of them became intimately involved, filling the room with romance.

Marian White went straight downstairs, took a taxi back to the bar. Once there, everyone was curious about what had happened. But Marian White remained calm and expressionless, making it impossible to tell what had really happened. So, no one dared to ask further, waiting for someone to break the silence.

Burke Woolley watched as Marian White approached. He quickly noticed that there was still something off about her demeanor. In truth, Sixth Master’s decision had really angered Marian White, but more than that, she felt unwilling to accept it.

Since Marian White took over this place, she’s worked tirelessly to make it successful. After years of hard work, she finally managed to build a reputation for the bar, and it became a popular gathering place for young people at night. It’s definitely a successful business.

But with this confrontation, although Marian White is still working as a waitress here, with Mona Mini’s stupid ways of thinking, Marian White can almost see what will happen to this bar in the future. To see one’s hard work being destroyed little by little is something that no one could accept easily.

Marian White wasn’t in the mood to deal with them. Given Mona Mini’s personality, she’d surely be eager to announce that she was the chosen one here. So, there was no need for Marian to bother saying anything herself.

So she simply went straight into the waitress’s room. After all, she had worked as a waitress before, so she knew exactly what to do. Burke Woolley followed her into the changing room. Marian White gave him a slight glance, slightly surprised that Burke Woolley had followed her there.

Burke Woolley looked at the clothes in her hands, feeling a bit guilty. “Is it because of me that you’re in this situation?” Before he could finish, Marian White turned to him and said firmly, “You don’t need to think like that. It has nothing to do with you. Even if this hadn’t happened, Mona Mini had already planned this for a long time. She would have found another way to bring me down.”

Burke Woolley knew that he was saying those things to avoid carrying a burden in his own heart. He fell silent for a moment. If he wanted to bring Marian White back to her former position, he would need to involve the people from his temple. But for now, he didn’t want to reveal his identity too soon.
