Chapter 6

Lord Six said in a pretentious manner, “It’s indeed difficult to invite him. But what if I say he owes me a favor? So, these five hundred thousand are just a token gesture. He certainly wouldn’t really care about that amount.”

Although the lackey didn’t quite understand what kind of favor Lord Keanan was referring to, one thing was clear to him: Burke Woolley was surely doomed. At the thought of this, a cold smile appeared on his lips once again.

Lord Six laughed, then touched his beard and said, “Just watch and see how that guy dies. You’ve done everything right. Continue to keep an eye on him. If anything happens, report to me immediately!”

The lackey quickly knelt down and replied, “Sure, Sixth Master. I will certainly not fail in my mission. I’ll report back to you immediately if anything happens.”

Lord Six impatiently waved his hand. This lackey knew when to back off. He got up from the ground and left with his head bowed.

After this lackey left, Lord Six remained with a furrowed brow. To put it simply, he was wary of the Evan family’s strength. Although he had already sent people to handle this matter, he still felt concerned. After all, the Evan family was known for taking revenge for even the smallest offenses.

Plus, since this incident happened on their own territory, and Marian White was under their jurisdiction, there was no way they could avoid being involved. With the Evan family being so powerful, if they started investigating, they’d definitely face serious consequences.

Just thinking of the vicious tactics used by the Evan family, even a man like Lord Six felt terrified. Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but slam the table hard to vent his anger.

“That bitch Marian White is good for nothing but causing trouble. At first, I thought she was pretty, but who would’ve known she’d be so difficult to get close to? Damn it, not only could I never get close to her, but she also caused me so many problems!”

Lord Six was so angry that he could hardly breathe, and his heart was filled with anxiety. But this only made him more determined to bring Xiaomi Ni up from there.

Just thinking about Xiaomi Ni’s tempting figure, plus the fact that she’s extremely obedient to me… Where else can one find a woman who’s both obedient and understanding like her?

Lord Six narrowed his lusty eyes and shook his head as he lit another cigarette. This time, by sending in a tough guy, he’d definitely be able to break that brat’s neck.

The only thing I’m worried about now is figuring out how to explain things to the Evan family tomorrow. After finishing his cigarette, Lord Six stroked his mustache in satisfaction, then headed toward Milini’s room.

Burke Woolley and Marian White got along fairly well. Marian White spent the entire night worrying about what to do. She knew full well that the Evan family and Lord Six were not people they could afford to provoke. She feared that retribution would follow by tomorrow.

Burke Woolley wasn’t afraid at all. After all, his strength was well-known. The title of “Saintly Son” wasn’t given lightly. Back in those days, when he fought through death and bloodshed, who among these people even existed?

But seeing how much Marian White cared about him, he felt deeply moved. He spoke softly, “Miss White, please don’t worry. It’s so late now. You should get some rest.”

Marian White instinctively wanted to scold him, but when she saw him sitting there calmly in his chair, she opened her mouth to speak, yet nothing came out. For some reason, Marian White felt strangely reassured by this man.

In the end, she could only weakly put her hands down. Then, rubbing her forehead, she said to him, “Never mind. Let’s deal with whatever happens tomorrow. Where’s your home? I can just take you there directly.”

Burke Woolley frowned. He hadn’t expected that this woman didn’t actually live here. Then again, how could the person in charge of this place not have their own home? But since he had rushed out like this, how could he tell Marian White where he lived?

Watching the man before her hesitate slightly, Marian White once again examined him. Although his clothes were neat, they seemed a bit old-fashioned. Could it be that this man had nowhere to go right now? Marian White frowned, and an idea came to her mind.

She called over a waiter, then said to Burke Woolley, “Don’t you have any place to go? Well, here’s what we’ll do: We have rooms where our waiters stay. Please endure this inconvenience and stay here instead.”

After thinking it over, Burke Woolley realized that it would be too late to look for a place to live now. It wasn’t practical to go back to the temple every day either. So, it would be better to stay here, thanks to this favor. It would also be beneficial for protecting this girl.

Buck Woolley nodded gently. Marian White immediately got to work: “Little Patton, find him a better room to stay in. Also, prepare some personal items for him. You take care of that.” The waiter nodded in agreement. After giving these instructions, Marian White left.

Burke Woolley watched as the woman’s figure disappeared into the night. He still couldn’t understand why his master had asked him to protect her. Just then, the waiter named Little Patton gently touched him.

Burke Woolley snapped out of his daze and glared at him. Little Patton swallowed hard. “Oh come on, big bro, I’m your friend, not your enemy. That look of yours really scares me to death.”

Seeing how easy-going this waiter was, Burke Woolley also smiled slightly. Little Patton quickly teased, “Come on, big bro, it’s better if you don’t smile at all. Let’s go; I’ll show you your room!”

Little Patton talked while walking ahead, with Burke Woolley following closely behind, taking in the surroundings of the bar along the way.

The design here is truly delightful. It seems like Marian White really put a lot of effort into it. At night, the lights in the corridor create a soft, mysterious atmosphere.

Seeing that he wasn’t moving, Little Patton turned back and urged him, “Come on, stop looking. If you really want to see it, I’ll take you there tomorrow. After all, we’ll be partners from now on. Miss White said I’m supposed to take care of you. If you have any questions, just come to me.”

Burke Woolley nodded gently. Little Patton muttered, “You’re such a strange person. Why are you so quiet?” Then, as if he remembered something from that evening, he began to fidget and wave his hands excitedly.

“I didn’t expect you to be quite skilled in martial arts. Do you know how dangerous those men were that you fought off tonight? I’ve long wanted someone to take care of them. They keep coming to Miss White’s bar to cause trouble. If not for Lord Six indulging them, Miss White would have dealt with them long ago.”

Upon hearing this, Burke Woolley frowned deeply. Lord Six? Could he possibly be Marian White’s boss? And those people I drove away today… could they be important figures whom even Lord Six wouldn’t dare to offend? If so, had I caused him trouble?

Burke Woolley spoke in a somber tone, “So, what happened today… did it cause any trouble for Miss White?”

Xiao Barton stopped in his tracks, a little puzzled, and looked at him. “So you didn’t know… Those guys are the ones that Lord Six has asked us to take care of. But everyone in our bar hates them. With their annoying habits, many people really want to deal with them.”
