Chapter 7

After a long while, Finn regained his composure and handed over the salt crystal.

Maya reached out her hand. Her fingertip wound accidentally touched the salt crystal.

"Ah..."

Sharp pain shot through her finger. She sucked in a sharp breath and her hand shook. The salt crystal dropped.

Just as the crystal was about to hit the ground, Finn quickly caught it.

Maya's eyes watered from pain. She instinctively brought her hurt finger to her mouth and gently sucked on it.

When she cut the wound earlier, she used some force. The cut was deeper than before. Now the salt crystal made it sting badly. Her fingertip was trembling.

A wave of self-pity suddenly hit her. Her throat tightened.

It was all the previous Maya's fault, but she had to take the blame. She had to cut her finger and give blood.

But she didn't want to cry in front of these bastards.

She took a deep breath and held back her tears. She waved her hand dismissively. "Go back quickly. I'm tired. I need to rest in my tent."

Jasper looked at her teary eyes and tightly pressed lips. His eyes flickered.

This supposedly precious female had cut her finger twice to give blood. The second cut was pretty deep. But she didn't lose her temper at them. What was she really planning?

In the end, he just smirked and turned toward his temporary tent.

The camp quickly became quiet again.

Five simple tents were scattered around the clearing.

Maya curled up on the synthetic fiber blanket in her tent, holding her injured finger and secretly wiping tears.

The stinging pain in her fingertip still bothered her. The resentment in her heart rose and fell like ocean waves.

Of course she knew they hated her.

Those torture marks from plasma whips, the scales ripped off alive...

Everything was carved into their bones. But those things really had nothing to do with her.

She was just an unlucky person who had transmigrated here.

She got stuck with this mess but had to bear all the hatred meant for the previous Maya.

Just then, the necklace around her neck suddenly heated up. It felt like carrying an overheated energy core. The heat bored through her skin into her bones.

Maya panicked and instinctively reached up to touch it. The blood drop on her fingertip happened to touch the sharp tip of the necklace.

A slight energy vibration came from the necklace.

Her consciousness felt like an invisible hand yanked it away. Her vision was instantly flooded with blue-white light.

Where was this?

Maya tried to shift her consciousness. She found herself in a virtual space surrounded by flowing blue-white halos. She couldn't see the edges.

She carefully assessed with her mind. It was about five cubic meters. Not big, but unusually quiet.

"Dimensional storage space?"

Maya's consciousness suddenly became clear. Wild joy surged in her heart.

The necklace her father gave her actually contained a dimensional storage device?

Did her blood drop activate this bio-identification system?

Having this space would make everything so much easier!

The more she thought about it, the more excited she got. She even forgot about her finger pain.

Her consciousness swept through the space once. After making sure there was no danger, she tried to exit.

When she returned to her body, she was still lying on the synthetic fiber blanket in her tent. The necklace temperature had returned to normal. Everything seemed like a dream.

Maya quickly grabbed the necklace to examine it closely. The bloodstain on the tip had dried. Nothing looked unusual.

She took a deep breath and concentrated. She tried to put a folded thermal blanket nearby into the space.

The moment she focused on it, the thermal blanket disappeared.

She concentrated again. The blanket appeared steadily on the tent floor.

It really worked!

Maya almost burst out laughing from excitement. She quickly covered her mouth.

She couldn't let those assholes know about this space.

If she hadn't found her father yet but already broke contracts with the bastards, having this space might give her a chance to survive.

Maya immediately got to work. She quickly selected some thermal blankets from the tent corner, some nutrition bars, and part of the mineral salt crystals Finn had purified. She put some of the higher quality items into the space.

She didn't dare put everything in. She only took some of the better stuff. Even if they noticed missing items, they would think they had miscounted. They wouldn't get too suspicious.

After finishing this, she dusted off her hands. She felt much more secure.

After all the trouble today - giving blood and getting scared - Maya was already exhausted with heavy eyelids.

She spread out the thermal blanket and curled into a ball. Soon she fell into deep sleep.

In her dream, she seemed to find Marcus. She successfully broke all contracts and found several loyal and reliable partners in the Federation...

Just then, a tall figure quietly lifted her tent flap and gazed down at sleeping Maya.

He slowly bent down and reached out to grab Maya's slender pale neck.

Maya was dreaming that Marcus handed her a fried chicken leg. Suddenly she felt something wrapping tightly around her neck. Suffocation crashed over her like a flood.

She struggled desperately, wanting to shout but couldn't make a sound. The food in front of her became blurry black shadows. All her strength seemed to drain away.

"Nngh..." She squeezed out broken whimpers from her throat. Her consciousness wavered at the edge of waking.

Maya's eyes snapped open. Her pupils dilated rapidly from fear.

Moonlight filtered through tent gaps. She clearly saw Finn's face looking especially cold in the moonlight. Those eyes that were usually beautiful like purple crystals now flickered with cold killing intent.

"Finn?!" She squeezed out his name from her throat with difficulty. Her voice became hoarse and broken from being choked.

Finn's fingers tightened more.

Maya felt like her windpipe was about to be crushed. She desperately grabbed his wrist. Her nails dug deep into his skin.

"What... are you... doing?" she said brokenly. Black spots started appearing in her vision.
