Chapter 2
Kaira's Pov
"What took you so long?" Ryazan said, with a smirk.
I turned to see a group of Alphas standing before us, wearing black training jackets and holding alcohol bottles. They were Alpha heirs too like Reis—his friends. Ryazan, Alton, Griffin and Max from other packs.
"Reis!" I whimpered, stepping behind him as I rushed to cover myself, trembling with fear.
He laughed coldly, nothing like the guy who had held me moments ago and sweet-talked me. "She was being a stubborn little pushover, as usual. Had to emotionally guilt-trip her into it." He glanced at me, lips curled in disgust. "But it worked."
The train station walls started to spin.
"Reis…" My voice cracked What are you talking about? Why are they here?
Ryazan stepped closer, eyes raking over my exposed body. "Did you really think an Alpha heir from Blue River would ever make a wolfless freak like you his chosen mate?" He sneered, having picked up on my human scent.
Reis shrugged. "Sweetheart, it was just a bet. Who could fuck the cursed pheromone slut first?" His cold gaze swept over me. "And damn, you were sweet. Would've happened sooner if your nosy twin and your stupid grounding ethics hadn't stopped interfering."
It felt like my heart had been ripped from my chest. He told them my secret. He actually did.
"Y-You said you loved me… that you wouldn't tell anyone about my curse." My voice broke as tears welled up in my eyes. They all laughed, mocking my pain.
"Ughh, such a crybaby," Max scoffed. My suffering was music to their ears.
Reis turned his back on me. "She's all yours, boys. Break what's left of her spirit. I have to go before my dad finds out I left the pack house."
"Reis!" I screamed, lunging after him.
But he kept walking, hands in his pockets, whistling like I didn't mean anything to him.
Ryazan grinned as the others closed in. "Seems your prince charming abandoned you. But don't worry, Kaira. You're going to enjoy round two even more."
As Ryazan reached for me, panic surged. I wasn't getting violated by these guys. I wouldn't back down. I slammed my forehead into his face with everything I had. His bone made a sickening crack. Stumbling back, blood gushing from his nose, he cursed loudly.
"Fuck! You crazy bitch!"
I didn't wait a second. I ran.
Towards the exit. My torn skirt bunched at my hips; I didn't stop to fix. I sprinted toward the only safe place left… our cottage. My scent trailed behind me, unprotected. My legs burned as pain pulsed between my thighs with every step.
Behind me, Ryazan's voice echoed, "After her!"
I pounded on the cottage door with all my strength until Kim ripped it open. Her eyes widened in horror the moment she saw me.
"Kaira? What happened to you?!"
I fell into her arms, tears falling uncontrollably, my body shaking from pain and shame. "I trusted blindly… you were right, Kim. Reis just wanted to get into my pants. He used me. H-he never loved me." Even speaking words felt like choking on glass.
"Shhh." She held me tight, but her gaze fell to my bare neck. Her nostrils flared. "Your pendant… where is it? Oh Goddess, Kaira, your scent is everywhere."
Before I could even find my voice, violent banging erupted with shocking force against the door. The woods splintered under heavy pounding.
Kim's blue eyes flashed silver as her wolf rose to the surface. She shoved me behind her, ready to fight.
"No!" I grabbed her arm. "There are four of them, all Alphas. They'll kill you! We have to run."
"We're not running anymore," she growled. "If our cover is blown, so be it. But I won't let them touch you again." She looked at me, her expression fierce. "Grab a knife quickly, Kaira. We're princesses. And these Alphas are beneath us."
The moment I grabbed the knife from Kim's hidden stash, the door burst open with a deafening crack. Ryazan and the others stormed in, laughing darkly when they saw us. I quickly tucked the knife behind my back, ready to hit when they least expected.
Ryazan stepped forward first, dangling something from his fingers. My heart stopped.
It was my silver pendant… the one Reis has snatched from my neck.
"Looking for this, slut?" Ryazan sneered. He tossed it onto the floor between us, then spat on it. "I picked it up the moment you ran. Now you'll die without it around your neck."
Kim's eyes flashed with anger. Her wolf, Salem, wasn't a creature to be messed with, especially when our twin bond was threatened. She didn't even hesitate. Kim shifted in a blur, before I could blink, she launched herself at them to protect me.
The moment my sister's white wolf stepped forward to block them from reaching me, silence swept through the room. Even the Alphas faltered. Fear glinted in their eyes but then something darker took over.
"Lets take this bitch and her sister. We're four and they're one and a half. She's the half," Griffin said almost drunkenly.
"But a white wolf," Alton forced out, while still trying not to show weakness.
"Don't be fooled," Max spoke. "This will be one memorial night, man. Having a taste of a legendary white wolf. We're Alphas."
They looked more determined now.
Kim took down Griffin first, claws tearing into his flesh. He crashed into the wall. But Max grabbed her hind leg. Alton slammed into her ribs. Ryazan circled behind her with a broken bottle.
Four Alpha heirs against one female wolf was no fair fight, despite her unique abilities.
"See, Kaira? Your big bad white wolf of a sister doesn't scare us," Ryazan mocked.
Kim had fought like a possessed demon. I saw her tear into Alton's shoulder, heard Max scream when she bit his forearm… but they overwhelmed her. Ryazan drove the broken bottle into her flank. She yelped, stumbled, and they forced her down. They pinned and beat her until she shifted back into human form, bruised and bleeding.
"Run, Kaira!" She gasped, reaching for me even as she fell.
No!
No, I couldn't. I dropped to my knees beside her, eyes fixed on the spit-covered pendant lying in the dust. I was exposed. Vulnerable.
"We're twins. We made a promise to protect each other, Kim. I won't leave you. This is all my fault." Turning to the Alphas with tears running down my face, I begged, "Please… hurt me, not her. I am the one who is cursed."
Ryazan laughed. "We'll hurt both of you alright. Two special breeds in one night? This is going to be fun."
He stalked towards me. Intimidating. I held myself with a lot of restraint, dark scenarios playing in my head. Let him think they had broken me completely.
A voice in my head whispered; If you had just complied, Kaira, none of this would have happened.
He reached down to grab my hair. My fingers shook violently. I nearly dropped the knife, but I composed myself and drove it up into the soft lining of his throat.
But he jerked back at the last second. The blade caught his collarbone instead, skidding across bone. Not deep enough.
"Ahhh! You bitch!" He clamped a hand over the wound. Blood pooled between his fingers. "What are you waiting for? Pin her! Now!"
Max and Griffin grabbed my arms. I slashed again, but Max twisted the knife from my hand. It clattered across the floor.
They threw me down next to Kim.
Ryazan kicked the pendant aside, crushing it under his boot with a sickening crunch. "You're going to regret hitting me twice."
They pinned me roughly to the ground, Max knelt on my right arm. Griffin took my left. Alton shoved Kim's face-down, one hand gripping the back of her neck
"No!" I screamed, thrashing. "Get off her! Take me instead!"
Ryazan loomed over me. He pressed his boot against my stomach until I couldn't breathe. This is what I call sweet revenge, baby girl and I am paying you back for your defiance.
The moment they surrounded me and Kim, Ryazan pulled out a camera and pointed it toward me.
Then he tore what was left of my skirt.
"Let's have some fun, shall we?" he said with a sick grin.
I squeezed my eyes shut. Don't feel. Don't feel.
At some point… I didn't know whose turn it was… then a pair of hands wrapped around my throat. "Die, you wolfless whore. Tonight never happened"
I clawed at his wrists, my lungs burned as I struggled for air. My vision began to blur into dark pinpricks… somewhere close by, Kim was yelling my name, but the sound was drowning.
This is how I die.
The last thing I heard was Ryazan's voice, distant and cheerful as the room went black; "Mission complete, we got the videos. Say hello to the Moon Goddess, White Wolf sluts."
