Chapter 10 Chapter 10
Selene’s pov
I stayed with my bridesmaids, arranging the flowers and listening to some of them squeal amazing nonsense to my ears. I loved it when I was the center of attention and finally I was about to be with the man of my dreams.
The seven of them spoke about the past and the future and how easy the pack would be with me as Luna.
“I knew that Freya wasn’t his mate from the beginning,” Tricia my best friend sneered as I smiled.
“Now, now, let’s not speak ill of the dead Tricia. Even if that dead stole my man from me.”
We all laughed as I looked into the field and saw Dorian walking briskly towards his garage.
“If you’ll all excuse me,” I said, getting up from their midst before hurrying to catch Dorian.
“Can I speak with you for just a moment?” I said to him as he stopped and turned to me.
“I’m to be on an errand.”
I frowned. “What's wrong?”
I could sense that something was amiss.
“It’s the alpha. He wants me to find the omega who healed him.”
I scoffed. “What does he want to do? Give that lowlife a medal?”
“Actually, he wants to kill her.”
I gasped. This was beneath kael’s attitude.
It felt strange. Why would he want to do that to someone who had saved his life?
“As much as I would love to ask why, I am going to ignore everything you’ve said. Haven’t you noticed the alpha acting strange these days?”
He shrugged. “It’s Kael. I don’t expect nothing less than surprises with him.”
“First the wedding, then the way he yelled at me earlier. And now he’s sent you on a wild chase for that girl. Haven’t you noticed that he’s not even listening to the elders. I’ve heard the rumors. It’s not good PR if you ask me.”
He stayed silent for a while then nodded. “I hear you, but I can’t do anything. I’m to obey and when things start to get out of hand intervene.”
“Things are getting out of hand if you ask me.”
He looked at his watch then at me. “We will talk when I get back. For now, I have an errand to run.”
He walked away from me as I sighed and went back to the group.
Tricia looked at me and noticed something was wrong as she turned to the rest of the group.
“Alright everybody. That’s it. You all should leave me and my girl alone. When I need your help I’ll call.”
They all mumbled and hit to their feet before leaving us alone.
I stared into space for a while, feeling that something was wrong somewhere.
“What’s wrong?” She said as I turned to her.
“Nothing.”
She scoffed. “Girl, don’t lie to me. You know I’ve got your back. Just tell me what the problem is.”
“I’m not lying.”
“Is it wedding jitters? Are you having second thoughts?”
“Tricia…”
“I told you that’s normal. You don’t have to bother so much about that. I told you.”
“It’s not it,” I sighed, thanking the moon goddess that I could get a word in.
“Then what is it? she asked.
I took a sharp breath, then nodded, turning to face her.
Ever since the alpha woke up from his near-death experience, he’s been acting strange.
“Strange how?” she narrowed her eyes, setting down her scissors and ribbon as she folded her arms and leaned back in her seat.
“Well, he… the other day when I got back, he sprang up this wedding on me and said we’re going to get married in like seven days, which, like I told you, is unusual. No Alpha has ever done it. Some people started to think that maybe it was because I was pregnant. But we had to debunk that.”
“Even I believed that you were,” she laughed as I nodded and went on.
“Then I found out the other night that he was talking to himself and yelling at someone. It felt strange. He kept on talking to someone named black. Who is black?”
“Oh yeah, Black is his wolf,” she smiled.
I raised my eyes at her. “How did you know?”
She shrugged. “You know about this. Remember, we used to sing about it. Black is the wolf of Alpha Kael,” she said in a sing-song kind of way.
“Oh.” I smiled, clapping my hands like an idea had popped up into my head. “Black is his wolf. How could I forget that?”
She then nodded. “Yeah, maybe he was talking to his wolf about something.”
“Yeah, but why would he be yelling at his wolf? Maybe that’s what he was trying to explain to me earlier and I stormed out on him.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Well, I was talking to him about the wedding and how I wanted it to go, and it seemed like he spaced out for a couple of minutes, and then all of a sudden he just burst out telling me to shut up. Now I was pissed, and he tried to explain something to me, but I didn’t want to hear it, so I left him and came here to work on whatever we are working on right now.
“But now it all makes sense. But it still doesn’t end the fact that when I went to talk to Beta Dorian, he told me that he was going to find the omega.”
“The omega?” Tricia scoffed. “Why would the beta want to find that girl? Nobody even wants to talk to her. Anyone who tries to be friends with her is considered an outcast.”
“Yes, but apparently the Alpha wants to kill her.”
She raised her brows. “Alpha Kael has really lost it.”
“Yes, he has.” I rubbed my temple. “And right now, I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if I should tell someone about it or just be quiet. It’s just tiring, if I’m being honest.”
I gave a heavy sigh and leaned back in my seat. “What do you want me to do?”
She leaned forward, clasping her hands together. “Tell one of the elders.”
I scoffed. “Haven’t you heard that the elders are having a hard time trying to talk to the Alpha?”
“Yes,” she nodded, “but at least tell them that you’re seeing some things that you don’t like from the Alpha. Maybe something might come up.”
She wasn’t wrong. The elders were usually the first people to tell whenever something like this was popping up in the pack.
I nodded. “Fine, I’ll tell an elder. But right now, you need to call those girls you kicked off, and we need to finish this thing ASAP, because I have a wedding dress fitting to go for.”
She squealed as we clapped our hands together and went back to work.
