Chapter 11 Chapter chapter 11

Eliara’s pov

I felt uneasy, I didn’t know why.

Was it because of the unrest happening out there? I couldn’t tell.

Hiding in here was the best thing I could do for myself.

If anyone from the pack saw me, they would instantly tell the alpha.

He already hated me. He knew we were mates but he had just had his way with me without claiming me as his.

I was a disease to him.

Taking in deep breaths, I got up from the bed and started to pace around.

A little bird flew to the window as I went there to admire it. It was then that I found a few guards dressed up in their armor, looking around in different huts in the distance.

My heart flipped. I had to get out of here before anyone would noticed that I was here.

I couldn’t open the door so I went straight to the back window and grabbed my back before jumping out of it.

I landed with precision, placing my back against the cool wall. I couldn’t backwards from ten before running into the forest ahead.

I didn’t stop. I ran with everything in me.

At some point, I looked back to see no one chasing me, but when I turned back to keep on running, I noticed a chest plate which I ran into.

I didn’t fall to the ground as strong hands held onto my arms, keeping me in place from falling.

“And where are we going today?” A familiar voice said to me.

I looked up to see beta Dorian staring at me with a charming smile.

I knew why he was here. There was no way he would be here if not for the orders of the alpha.

“Please… I… I didn’t do anything wrong.”

He nodded then released me as multiple guards surrounded us from hidden parts of the forest.

“If you didn’t do anything… why were you running?”

“I just… please you have to let me go.”

He shook his head, slowly closing the distance between us while I backed away slowly, placing my back up to shield myself from him.

“The alpha is looking for you. Imagine our surprise to find you missing from the pack. Now what is so important that you would run away from the pack like that without telling anyone.”

I found an opening by his left and decided to take it.

Using my bag as a distraction, I tossed it to his face and feinted left before going right as I rushed to the path.

I didn’t get past the clearing before an iron grip held my waist and lifted off the ground like I was nothing.

I slapped against the hand holding me. “Let me go!”

“I’m sorry, but you have a lot to answer for back at the packhouse.”

He tossed my bag to a close guard as he walked with me on his shoulders.

I scratched, bit and twisted around to get away from his grip as he got sick of it.

The moment we were out of the forest, he tossed me to the ground in a rough way which had me gasping for air.

A guard got out a long sack with ropes around it and I was lifted and tossed in it.

“No!” I yelled as I was being forced in there. “You can’t do this! Let me go!”

But no one listened to me.

The sack was closed and I was lifted like a sack of potatoes on a shoulder.

I swung around, fighting aimlessly at the sack but nothing came of it.

With a defeated sigh, I leaned back in the sack and thought of the worst things that could happen to me.

If Kael saw me, was he going to tear me apart like I was nothing? Or was he going to treat me a little bit better than the last time we had met.

It didn’t take long before I was thrown to the ground and the sack cut open with a knife.

I looked around to see I was in a cell.

“Where am I?” I asked, fear gripping me. I could make out the faces before me but none were that of the alpha or the beta. Just the guards who had been there when he had apprehended me.

“The beta isn’t here right now.” Someone said in a sly voice while pushing me back. “Stay here and be comfortable. I’m sure the leaders have something good for you.”

I wasn’t going to die here. I was going to get out of whatever pinch I was in.

I noticed that one of the guards had a key dangling from his waist. All I had to do was grab it and hide then escape at the right time.

With a deep breath, I rushed into the guards waist and gripped him with everything in me.

He punched my back, trying to free me from him but I held on tighter.

When I removed the key, I pulled away as he pushed me to the wall.

The force of the push was so much that air was pushed out of my lungs as I felt dizzy for a little while. I slowly slid to the ground, taking in deep breaths and hiding the key in my clothing.

The four guards stared at me like I was some kind of disease before stepping away from me and locking me inside.

I watched them walk away.

I leaned my head back and took in deep breaths.

Patience was the key to things like this. All I had to do was be patient and once the time was right, I would go ahead and take my freedom.

I thought back to the position that Lyra had betrayed me, but then shook my head. She was my best friend. There was no way she would do that.

Yet the nagging question of how Dorian had found me there bit at me for a moment.
