Chapter 6 Chapter 6

Kael’s pov

My insides burned with fire like I could not believe. I needed to get myself up and running. I had to find a way to save myself before I would lose my sanity.

‘Mate in danger,’ black, my wolf said again as I struggled to my feet.

“Then let her burn.” I growled back.

“Alpha,” I heard my beta, Dorian Hale call behind me.

Slowly, I turned to look at him as he had a show of concern on his face.

“Alpha you need rest,” he went on, slowly coming to me. “You were proclaimed dead a few hours ago. You can’t be running about like nothing happened. We don’t even know the magic of the science behind you being alive yet. How about we take it easy and we…”

“You talk to me like I’m some child,” I threw at him in anger, forgetting my pain for a moment. “I am an alpha. I do not need that stupid calmness you have going for you. Don’t piss me off Dorian.”

“Alpha, be still. We need you to understand that you are not a hundred percent yet,” an elder joined in.

I looked around the hall to see elders, maids, guards and even my own fucking beta staring at me like I had just made a mistake.

“Seven days,” I threw at the elders. “You know what to do. Make it happen.”

I walked away from them, ignoring the pain that coursed my veins as I headed for my room.

The moment I entered and closed the door behind me, I placed my back on the cold surface which seeped through my light shirt.

Taking in a deep breath, I realized late that it was a mistake. Her scent was still in this room and it flooded into my system, making me remember the passion we had shared.

I shook my head, walking over to the bed to sit and hear my wolf pacing within me. It was restless.

‘This is all your fault,’ it blamed me through gritted teeth. ‘You just let your ego ruin everything for us.’

I scoffed. “Oh now you can make coherent sentences. I always thought you spoke in riddles. It’s good to see you can actually form sentences.”

‘This isn’t a joke Kael. Our mate is in danger. You need to go save her.’

I laughed loudly, then got up and walked to the mirror.

There, my wolf took a shadowy form with its eyes glowing a deep blue.

“How long will you keep this up?” I asked. “We need to be a team. You can’t keep being distracted by a meager omega. She is nothing to us.”

“She… is our mate.”

I scoffed, shaking my head in disbelief. “I can’t believe this. She got to you too.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Maybe she has some supernatural power that makes her override our defenses. We are usually stronger than this. Maybe I was horny after being brought back from the brink of death or something.”

A small laughter rumbled through its chest as I felt it in mine.

“You still refuse to see the obvious.”

“Which is?” I folded my arms, taking a more relaxed stance.

“That no matter how much you try to deny it, it won’t work. She is yours and you are hers. Marry whoever you want. Go ahead and make a line of royal women you think you deserve, but in the end, eliara is yours and you are hers.”

“Now I know you’re just being mad.”

A knock came on the door as I looked to it then looked back at the mirror to see only my reflection. The wolf was gone.

With a heavy sigh lingering on my lips, I walked to the door to open it and find my beta there.

“Dorian?” I raised a brow as he bowed. “What brings you here?”

He hesitated for a moment before gesturing to my room. “May I?”

I didn’t want him in, but whatever had brought him here was sure to be important.

“Sure,” I stepped aside as he entered while I slowly closed the door behind me with a click.

He walked into the middle of the room, looking around before turning to me.

“It seems like you’ve been with someone recently.”

I nodded. “I miss the part where that’s your problem.”

He gave me a small chuckle. “Alpha, I just… I care about your health. Haven’t you heard the saying that the health of the leader is the health of the pack.”

I walked past him, heading for the balcony. “You of all people should know that I don’t care about what the elders have to say. I’m done with this rubbish.”

“They saved your life.”

I turned to him in anger. “They used a useless omega. She harbors some kind of resentment towards me and that is why I’m still feeling a sharp pain within me.”

He narrowed his eyes at me. “Are you…”

He couldn’t finish it as the door banged open.

I turned to see a shocked Selene walking in.

“Can I talk to my fiance… alone?” She asked as my beta bowed before me and walked off while I stood there staring at her.

“You showed up,” I smiled. “I thought you wouldn’t be here for another week.”

She shrugged, folding her arms across her chest. “Imagine my shock when I heard you were dead, now I’m here to find you alive. What is going on? How do you expect me to be out there doing whatever it is I’m to be doing when you want to leave me alone in this cruel world?”

She started to cry as I walked up to her and held her in my arms. I felt a prickly sensation which was a large contrast to the calming one I had with that omega.

“Selene,” I said softly, looking into her eyes as she searched mine. “Marry me.”

She gasped, taking a step away from me in shock.

“What?!”
