Chapter 2

The Rock Mountain Pack, twenty hours earlier....

"CHLOE! You wretch!! Where is the food?! These tables need to be clean!"

That was Laura Denmir's voice, shouting from the top of her lungs at me.

"I-I'll be there! Just a m-moment after I finished cleaning the dishe...."

Thud!!

"Urgh!!"

A plate flying across the room, hitting the back of my head. It was so painful and I fell to the floor due to instant dizziness. I closed my eyes tightly as my surrounding seemed to be spinning.

"YOU!! ....retch!!... Get up!! Stop.... up!" I heard voices but for some reason it became so distant.

I lay down on the floor on my side. My sight blurry for a second and I sucked the air as much as I can.

"GET UP!!"

Ugh! I whimpered in pain as someone kicked me on my back. My hearing was back, so as my sight. Soon, I could feel my surrounding again.

"Do you not hear me?! What are you doing down there! GET UP IDIOT!!"

It was her, Laura. The Alpha's and Luna's daughter. She kicked me again in the same spot. I guessed it was because my body used to it or either my body just gave up to it, the spot where she kicked me was supposed to be so painful, but it is not.

I don't think it will heal soon either. The old ones didn't even heal yet. Maybe my body was just gave up.

I reached the edge of the kitchen sink, used it to get up despite of my weak, tremble knees. How I wanted to lay down, just to rest my body. Anywhere even the cold ground would be fine. I'm so exhausted and my joints ache all over.

I touched where the plate hitting my head and felt something wet.

"What? Now you want to get the symphaty over a small scratch! I said go to work!"

I flinched as I saw her hand lifted to beat me, "I-I will! I was doing t-the dishes!" I tried to defend myself but know that it was all going in vain. She was much more stronger than me, of course. She eats three times a day and no one beat her to her senses.

Meanwhile me... I got lucky if I could find the left over from their food.

"What's all this fuss?!" Another voice came to the kitchen and it was her brother, Haris Denmir, the next Alpha in line.

"Can't you see?! I am busy preparing this banquet for our special guest and control everything so it would be perfect. But this idiot didn't even move when I told her to work!" She pushed me to the sink and I almost fall again. I grabbed the edge so it didn't happen.

I'm so tired of this. They beat me to the point I could no longer breath. They use me to do their job and when it's done they will claim it as their effort.

These wicked people...

"Hhh... Laura.." I glanced at Haris for a brief second and saw how he pinched his forehead in defeat. "She is not the only omega in this pack. You see? She was there already doing her work, you can call somebody else..."

"You are defending her?!" She scoffed not believing her brother to be so nice at a lowly omega.

Me neither.

"I am not." He said firmly. "But if you making all this fuss because just some lowly-omega then you fail at your job. Grow up, Laura, don't act like a teenager, call someone else to do it then the preparation will soon be done."

As much as I hate Haris Denmir, but this time I agree with him.

"What?!" Laura seemed hesitant but she finally walked out of the kitchen. But not before she warn me with that cruel tone of her.

"You! Just make sure everything went smoothly! If I happen to see any food or plate unclean, you will face the consequence yourself!"

"Yes," I nodded and back to work. She stomped out of the kitchen and I sighed in relief.

I know it's foolish for someone as weak, ugly, and useless as me, but can I at least had the dream again? Where I could escape and live a normal life?

I tried. Countless time. But it seemed Alpha Jordan wanted me to root in this place. Because I still useful to him. I wonder, what kind of method he use when my body no longer useful from him.

Years ago, where they still showed me their fake kindness, I really thought they considered me as their family. As Alpha Jordan told me that it was my luck that he found me alone, crouching from the cold and wounded, almost dead, away from my old pack. That it was something I should be grateful that he adopted me as his daugther.

I continued my work with trembled hands, gathered the small pieces of broken plate on the floor and wipe up my own blood.

These things I've been through, I am not grateful for this. I rather for him to let me died on the cold ground at that moment.

But everytime I'm thinking about death, a soft voice that I was longed for echoed in my head.

"My dear, Chloe, you need to live..."

I smiled in irony. Oh, Mama... how should I keep up with this. No one want me. No one help me and I am tired already...

Just after this banquet, it was my farewell for them. If I can't escape this place, then I should follow you to the afterlife.
