Chapter 2

He turned to Poppy, his tone softening in an instant.

“Go get some rest first. Don’t be afraid—I’ll handle this.”

Poppy stepped forward, fingers tugging lightly at her collar. The fabric shifted, exposing the skin beneath—

a spread of unmistakable kiss marks.

“Luna Calantha, please don’t be angry with Rex… this is all my fault.”

I lifted my gaze to her and let out a cold scoff.

Of course she was at fault.

If she chose to be a mistress, she should be prepared to face the consequences of being dealt with by the rightful Luna.

Slap.

Before she could finish speaking, my hand struck her across the face.

“This is not your place to speak.”

Poppy froze, stunned, clutching her cheek as tears welled instantly in her eyes.

Rex—and Danny, standing outside the door—both went still.

They had long grown used to my composure over the years.

Poppy quickly recovered, her body going limp as she collapsed into Rex’s arms. She cried recklessly, smearing foundation and lipstick across his immaculate suit.

At the sight, Amelia snarled within me:

“For Rex, you haven’t dressed up in ten years.”

Rex’s anger finally broke loose, his wolf eyes turning icy.

“Have you lost your mind? Do you even know what you’re doing?”

I met his furious gaze and let out a faint laugh.

“The Alpha of the Frostveil Pack does not tolerate a third party in her marriage.”

“But you are already my Luna. You follow my Pack’s rules. My mother never objected—what right do you have to question it?”

With that, he ordered Danny to throw the divorce papers into the shredder.

I watched the paper being torn apart, then casually brushed a strand of hair behind my ear.

If he wouldn’t agree to a divorce—

then I would force him into one.

No one knew better than I did how to make him unravel.

I kicked every pair of shoes in the house out of place, dumped freshly bought fish into the bathtub, and even splashed greasy soup across the pristine white carpet.

Soon, the entire villa reeked of fishy stench and oil.

Wolf Amelia practically cheered—this was long overdue.

In the past, Rex would have replaced everything in the house, then locked himself in a disinfectant bath for hours.

I sat numbly in the wrecked living room, waiting for him—

waiting for the moment he would finally snap and throw the divorce papers back in my face.

But even past midnight, there was no sound at the door.

Until my phone screen lit up.

A message.

From Rex’s phone.

Poppy had sent it.

It was a photo of them sharing a piece of cake together.

He said it himself—because it’s me, he doesn’t mind.

My stomach churned violently.

In the first year after our wedding, I had once used his cup by accident.

He had thrown it straight into the trash.

After that, I lived cautiously, using everything in the house with care—

afraid that one day, he might throw me out along with it.

But now I understood.

It was never about cleanliness.

It was because I wasn’t her.

I sat there the entire night, until my tears ran dry.

Then I picked up my phone and called the Pack’s Beta assistant.

“In the name of Luna Calantha, I order you to dismiss Poppy immediately.”

There was silence on the other end for a few seconds before he spoke hesitantly:

“Rex has given explicit orders—any personnel changes involving Poppy must have his personal approval. As the Beta of the GloomFall Pack, I swear to the Moon Goddess… my loyalty lies with the Alpha heir.”
