Chapter 2
Alpha Jason and Lily's engagement felt like a sharp thorn driven deep into my heart. I stood by the window, watching them exchange smiles so sweet, while my own heart ached with every beat.
Home, which once felt like a sanctuary, was now a cold, unfeeling place.
After returning home, my body began to ache intensely.
Each breath felt like it was tearing at my chest, and my limbs felt heavy, as if something was pulling me down. I tried to get up, but every muscle and bone seemed to be in excruciating pain, as if something inside me was being torn apart.
Suddenly, the door creaked open. Morris Hermann, the Romano pack's healer and the only one who knew the truth about me, walked in.
"Emma?" His voice was soft, concerned. "You don't look well."
I tried to force a smile, but it was more of a grimace. "I'm fine, Dr.Morris. Just tired, I guess."
He moved closer, placing his hand on my forehead, feeling the heat rising. "You're not fine, Emma. Your wolf blood is awakening," he said, his expression serious. "This is why you feel this way. The power inside you is reacting, and it’s overwhelming your body."
"Wolf blood?" I stared at him in confusion. "What do you mean? I thought I was just an ordinary woman. Why is this happening to me?"
Dr.Morris sighed deeply, his eyes filled with concern. "You are not ordinary, Emma. You are part of Romano pack, even if your blood is impure. But now, after everything that’s happened, your wolf nature is awakening. And it is far more powerful than you realize. This awakening is causing your body to react violently. You need to control it."
I looked at him, the pain making my chest feel tight. "I don’t understand. Why is this happening now? Why is my body reacting like this?"
"Because you've suppressed it for so long," he said quietly. "Your pain, your suffering—it’s all awakening the wolf inside you. You’ve spent so long ignoring it, but now you have no choice. You must face it."
I closed my eyes, feeling the sharp pain spread through my body, as if my veins were on fire. "I can’t stand this," I whispered, almost pleading.
Dr.Morris placed a calming hand on my shoulder. "I can help you, Emma. I’ll give you the tools to manage the pain, but you must understand that you can’t run from this. Your wolf blood is part of you, and it will only grow stronger."
I looked at him, my eyes searching for some hope. "But how? I can barely stand the pain. How do I control something like this?"
"You will learn," Dr.Morris replied gently. "I will guide you, teach you how to control your blood. This power is yours, but you must master it before it controls you."
I took a deep breath, nodding slowly. The idea of having such power terrified me, but the alternative—living in helplessness, watching everything I loved slip away—was far worse.
"How do I begin?" I asked, my voice filled with determination.
"First," he said, standing up, "you need to learn to calm yourself. The wolf is full of violence and raw energy. If you let your emotions control you, it will only hurt you. You must learn to center yourself and let the power flow through you, not overwhelm you."
I nodded, feeling a flicker of hope in the pit of my stomach. "I’ll do it," I said firmly. "I won’t be the same helpless woman anymore."
Dr.Morris smiled at me, his expression proud yet somber. "You already have what it takes, Emma. You just need to believe in it."
