Chapter 4 Bought for a price
Chapter 4.
The air from his nostrils blew hot that it almost burn out my skin. He barged out of the cell. Sooner, the cell door burst open again, revealing Sarah.
“ You're still alive?” Her voice resonated before she appeared in front of me on white wedding robes, her blonde hair flowing over her shoulders. Three Omega guards stood behind her.
“ Who told you the food and water had been poisoned?”
My eyes shifted to her face that was now laced with disgust and disappointment.
She had expected me to die after poisoning my food and water. Thankfully, I didn't taste it, not because I wasn't hungry, but because my throat had been clogged of betrayal and the weight of rejection had pressed against my chest.
She was not just a golddigger, but also a devil without horns. She didn't just steal my man, but had also attempted to kill me by poison.
The knife already in my heart twisted deeper and deeper.
She scoffed, picked the cup of icy water in front of me and spilled it on my body, allowing cold to bite at me.
“Well, if I were you I would have died of poison than to be purchased by a random Alpha who would use my daughter as a tool of pleasure to my face.”
My jaw stiffened as I threw my punches at her. However, the heavy metal wrapped in my wrists pulled me back, prevented them from reaching her, reminding me of my bondage.
“ You'll never give birth to his child because you've lost your womb. You're nothing but an empty golddigger!” I smirked. Her eyes burned into mine as she grabbed a metallic bar on the floor, gritting her teeth in fury.
I was expecting the impact on my head but it never came. Then I realized the door had burst open, revealing a tall, muscular guard, holding an envelope in his hand.
“ You have this from the Alpha!” He stretched forth the letter. She collected it in a quick snap.
I didn't know the content of the envelope, but from the way her face was full of malice and taunts I knew it was something plotted against me.
“ Guess what?” The corner of her lips tipped upward begrudgingly. “ The beast has listed his price.”
“ 5400 silver and 3000 diamond for a useless mother and daughter?” She blinked her brows.
I gasped, thrown in daze as she spoke. What type of buyer would buy a mother and her daughter, all together at that amount?
“Well, I wouldn't have expected you and your daughter to be that expensive.”
The guards loosed the chains in my hands and my legs were weak to walk out of the cell. As I stepped out of the cell, sharper glares and mocking fingers from the bullies bore a hole in my heart.
As I stepped out the pack was buzzing with balloons and frostings while a cool music played beneath. My inside out got twisted the moment I saw my daughter dressed tacky.
“ Mummy!” She ran up to me, curling her hands over me in tight embrace. Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes for not being able to protect her or give her the life she had ever wanted.
Felipe pulled Sarah closer to himself and announced her as his Luna. The whole place buzzed with cheers. I wasn't heartbroken, just a sense of relief and freedom from the dream I had always hoped for.
He kissed her deeply as the pack members showered them gifts and praises while my daughter was clung to me as I waited for the beast we were sold out to.
The party lasted for some hours. Hours of the pack members throwing leftovers at us, hours of being a foolish mother to my daughter, and hours of finally waving a goodbye at the life I had always wanted.
Felipe showed up, drained and exhausted. “ The party is over! You should get ready for your new home.”
Bile arose inside of me as my grip on my daughter’s wrist felt tighter. The thought of not knowing the beast we were being sold to almost knocked me off my feet.
But when the beast showed up, it was the least person I had
expected to see. He was the Lycan king.
Alpha Xander.
