Chapter 6 The rugged alpha

I nudged past him as I strode into the place I've once been secretly for some years from the same man that sold me and my daughter out to this beast. Barbie clung hopefully behind me, grabbing the tip of my shirt. I only looked down at her and gave her reassuring glances.

“ This would be your new home. Let's see how far you can go about it. Good luck.”

Beta Alessandro spoke, almost like mocking as he turned around and walked away, his heavy steps resounding in our ears. Soon as he disappeared, my daughter asked.

“ Mummy, are you sure we will ever be free from this place?” Her tiny voice crushed my soul and spirit. In the other hand, it stirred strong will inside of me. I took a long drag and crouched down to her.

“Of course, dear. Sooner we would leave this place. Alright?” . She nodded her head slightly.

As I opened the room that was given to us, a dusty air slammed our face, forcing us to cough uncontrollably. I grabbed the rag close to the computer and began to dust the place, opening the windows alongside for new air to come in. Some years ago I came here begging for the promotion of my mate but I wasn't thrown into this lonely, dusty room. But now that I've been sold to them I was almost amounting to nothing, a sold commodity.

The door was knocked.

I, and my daughter froze, turning to look at the door. We remained silent until the door creaked open as though the person coming in was scrutinizing us. His foot on the room were intentional.

Alpha Xander.

He held a smoke in between his fingers and dragged enough, puffing it into the room as he moved further into me.

“ I can see you're fully ready for work or should I say willing to free yourself from the shackles of the Lycan king?”

His hand rubbed on Barbie's head; softly and tender enough. He turned to me. “ Meet me in my room!”

“Room?”I didn't know when the word slipped out of my mouth.

His eyes were emotionless and filled with power and command, and he gave me this awful gesture like what could I do if he wanted me in his room.

He didn't respond to my question, instead he leaned into me and his whisper cut through the air like blade. “Next time you question my authority I don't know what evil would befall you.”

I pushed backwards and I could feel Barbie's heavy breath as he spoke with red eyes. He turned around and left the room.

I and my daughter finally exhaled the deep breath that burned our lungs.

“ Mum! He's so terrific. I'm scared!”

I placed my trembling hands on her cheeks and looked at her through the brows. “He won't harm us, I promise!”

“ A minute, I'll be back!” I left her In the room, aiming at any place he could call his room. How on Earth would he ask me to meet him in his room when I was barely an hour old in his palace? I didn't even have the idea where his room was.

“ Please, Alpha! Please.” A voice blared by the side and I flinched. Blood spilled into the air, followed by a heavy scream eroding from the scene. My heart thumped faster in my chest, daring to fly away.

My hand flew up to my chest as I caught the view of a man whom I had presumed to be one of his warriors whose fingers were now cut into pieces. He kept screaming for help that seemed to be impossible.

“ Now feed those fingers to the dogs. That's the reward of disobeying me.” He said in a loud voice and the man was dragged out of the place: weak and broken.

His eyes caught mine and something shifted inside of them. I froze as I pulled back.

A tall, slim figure walked up to me. “Follow me.”

He said and I breathed out before following him. He led the way through the passage Xander was threading untill he got to a beautiful room and stopped. Then he turned back and left. It was remaining I and the cold devil freezing in front of the door.

His fingers danced on the door keys and it creaked, opening and he stepped into it. The air in the room was minty and fresh. The room was one of the most beautiful rooms I have ever met in my entire life, walls made of wood and floor made of tan and marble. Neon lights flickered sideways, casting a beautiful pool of colors inside the room.

I looked around the beautiful ambiance and shook my head slightly, impressed by the view in front of me.

“ Come here!” He said in a single tone and I froze, my heart now thumping harder in my chest.

I breathed slightly, holding the tips of my gown at both sides and walked closer to him.

“ There are some rules you've not yet known.” He grabbed me by my chin. I grunted, waiting for my cheeks to crush immediately from his hold but it didn't. Instead, I felt some sorts of relief and cool, cold fingers wrapped around my cheeks.

I peeked up to see his face and met a devil who seemed to be nice and calmer. Even if he wanted to kill me I wouldn't know the exact second he was going to snap my head off my neck.

“ What are the rules, Alpha?” I inquired.

“ Number 1,” He started, his hands becoming more firmer than before. “You must not have any affair to do with my men.”

I threw my head back, surprise etching on my face.

What did he mean by that? I was just what he bought at a very cheap price. Well, maybe he was just trying to protect what he bought with his money.

“ Alright, Alpha.’ I decided to say and looked away.

“ Rule number 2!” He said and grabbed my chin. His eyes fell on my lips, scrutinizing them as though I was his prey. But he didn't part his lips before his door beeped signifying that there was someone at the door.
