Chapter 7 Is She a Very Cheap Person?
After more than two hours, Olivia finally finished building the little castle with Bianca.
As lunchtime approached, she worried that Bianca might be hungry, so she decided to take her downstairs for lunch.
Bianca was in a great mood, swinging her hand back and forth while holding Olivia's.
Seeing this, Olivia's eyes softened with affection. "Bianca, you're amazing! You finished the castle so quickly, even faster than me."
Bianca beamed at the praise, her eyes sparkling with joy.
Olivia felt her heart melt a little at Bianca's adorable smile.
She noticed that Bianca showed vibrant emotions after completing challenging tasks or encountering things she liked.
This was a significant breakthrough for Olivia, as it meant she could guide and support Bianca in these areas more effectively in the future.
Just as her mood lifted, Michael walked in.
He exuded a cold, commanding presence and said to Yara, "Take Bianca downstairs."
Then, his gaze fell on Olivia, and he ordered, "Come to the study with me!"
Olivia was taken aback.
From Michael's demeanor, it seemed like he was here to confront her. Had she done something terribly wrong?
Confused but compliant, Olivia handed Bianca over to Yara and followed Michael to the study.
Once inside, she asked directly, "What do you need to talk about?"
With Bianca out of earshot, Michael no longer held back his anger. "How dare you ask? Olivia, do you think this is funny? Deliberately making things difficult for Sophia and not properly handing over your work! Are you trying to sabotage the partnership between the Johnson family and the Brown family? Do you have any idea how important this project is for both families?"
Olivia was stunned by the accusation. When had she ever made things difficult for Sophia?
She replied coldly, "I did my job and followed the procedures for the handover. It was Sophia who insisted she knew everything and told me to leave."
"Enough!" Michael shouted angrily. "Even now, you're still trying to slander Sophia. She's not that kind of person!"
His eyes held no trust, only conviction that she was the villain.
Olivia felt a chill run through her, her face draining of color.
All these years, Olivia had dedicated herself to the company's projects, never treating them like a joke. Yet, without understanding the truth, he berated her.
Four years of marriage, and it couldn't withstand a few words from someone else.
Olivia thought helplessly that she really was a failure.
She didn't feel like defending herself anymore. He wouldn't believe her anyway.
Olivia felt a wave of exhaustion wash over her. Hadn't he seen the divorce papers yet? The sooner they divorced, the sooner these baseless accusations would no longer concern her.
Seeing her silence, Michael assumed she felt guilty. His expression grew even colder.
He warned sternly, "Olivia, this partnership between the Johnson family and the Brown family is crucial for both sides. You'd better stop making things difficult for Sophia and properly hand over your position. Now, come with me to the office to redo the handover. After that, just stay home and take care of the kids. Don't get involved in any work matters again."
He didn't give Olivia a chance to argue, his eyes filled with impatience.
Olivia didn't want to go. She thought of Sophia's smug, condescending face.
Acting high and mighty in public, stirring up trouble behind the scenes. Was she supposed to crawl back and hand things over?
Olivia resisted. "I've already completed my work. If there are issues, they're Sophia's fault, not mine!"
With that, she turned to head downstairs to have lunch with Bianca.
But Michael quickly grabbed her wrist, "Olivia, you don't get to refuse!"
Ignoring her resistance, he tried to drag her out of the house.
"Michael, let go of me… Have you lost your mind?" Olivia's face darkened, and she struggled to break free.
He was using force for Sophia's sake!
Where was the gentleman he once was?
Bianca heard the commotion and instinctively came over to check.
She was still waiting for Olivia to join her for lunch.
"Bianca, sweetie, wait for me in the dining room for a bit longer," Olivia said, trying to shield her arm from Bianca's view.
Bianca blinked, somewhat understanding, and nodded before turning away.
"Let me go! I'll come with you after I have lunch with Bianca. There's no need for this brute force." Olivia's face was grim, her eyes filled with anger.
Michael never even cared to have a meal with Bianca. The accumulated disappointment had frozen her heart. It didn't hurt anymore.
After a moment of thought, Michael reluctantly let go but coldly reminded her, "You have twenty minutes."
Olivia didn't want to talk to him any longer. She hurried downstairs to have lunch with Bianca.
