Chapter 3
Alexia stood in front of the door, wanting to knock, but afraid of what she might see inside. Although Edward had always been cold and indifferent to her, she still couldn't face his betrayal directly.
'You can't be a coward, Alexia! You can't live like this. Even without Edward, you can still live on your own. You've suffered four years of humiliation, and it's time to free yourself from it.'
Alexia summoned her courage and entered the room code. When the door opened, the smell of sex immediately washed over her, making her almost unable to breathe. But as she calmed herself, the scene before her shocked her even more.
The man on the bed was not Edward, but two fat gangsters! And Cecelia was lying between them.
What was going on here? Why wasn't Cecelia lying in Edward's arms, but instead in the bed with these two old men? Before Alexia could react, Cecelia woke up.
Rather than showing grief, her eyes glowed with triumph.
Alexia looked at her, mouth agape. She glanced to her left, then to her right, and shouted,
"Cecelia, are you out of your mind? What have you done to yourself?"
Because her voice was loud and she hadn't closed the door, it traveled down the hall. In the room opposite, Edward stirred in his sleep when he heard her. He woke with a frown, thinking,
'Her voice is always in my head. Even now that I'm in a hotel, can't you let me rest?'
But then he recalled the sentence he heard in his sleep and became fully awake. He looked around and realized he was topless, and a bad feeling welled up inside him.
Had he done something to Cecelia last night? He hurriedly lifted the blanket to check and found that his trousers were still on.
There was no smell of sex in the air either, so it seemed nothing had happened last night.
He breathed a sigh of relief at the thought.
"Hey! Who are you two? Get out of the bed!" Suddenly, Cecelia's panicked voice rang out, urging Edward to scramble to put on his shirt without caring about his appearance.
He rushed to the door and saw room 1106, where Cecelia was crying with red eyes, and across from her stood his wife, Alexia.
Cecelia saw Edward, and her cheeky smile disappeared, replaced by a look of fear. She quickly covered herself as the men beside her opened their eyes and looked her way. She backed up to the headboard, pulled her knees to her chest, and looked around the room with tears in her eyes.
"Alexia, why are you doing this to me? Yesterday was my brother's death anniversary and I only suggested that Edward come with me to pay respects. I had no other intentions, but... but why are you so cruel and let... let someone rape me!" Cecelia accused Alexia, tears streaming down her face.
"What are you talking about?" Alexia couldn't understand how, after just arriving, she had already become the guilty party.
"Hey girl, are you satisfied with what we did?" The older man lying next to Cecelia stood up and smiled lecherously at Alexia. "Remember to contact us next time if you need a favor like this."
The other man added with a laugh.
When they finished, they began to leave, but Cecelia suddenly turned to Edward and pleaded, "Edward, please help me. You can't let them go or they'll spread rumors and my life will be ruined."
Alexia was still in shock, but when she saw the murderous look on Edward's face, she knew she had to explain or she'd truly be mistaken for the criminal. She at last realized this was a trap Cecelia had set for her.
If Edward really believed Cecelia's words, she would be labeled a wicked wife, and Edward would soon divorce her.
The Frank family would side with Cecelia as well.
"Edward, please, I really didn't do this. I just came over to confirm—" but before Alexia could finish her sentence, Edward's cold voice cut her off.
"To confirm what? To confirm whether I betrayed you?"
"I..." Alexia was afraid to meet his eyes for a moment.
"Edward, please don't blame Alexia. It's all my fault. I know yesterday was your wedding anniversary, yet I still begged you to come with me to honor my brother. Alexia is your wife, it's understandable for her to be upset and want to get back at me. But Alexia, you can beat me or scold me, but how could you have someone rape me..." Cecelia seized the opportunity and cried.
"You're lying! I didn't do this!" Alexia said angrily.
Cecelia immediately buried her face in Edward's arms, her whole body shaking, but Edward didn't see Cecelia give the older man a sly wink.
The older man instantly nodded. He looked at Alexia and accused, "Girl, don't deny it. You owe us the final payment."
"Stay away from me! Why are you all framing me?" Alexia tried once more to explain.
But Edward, without even glancing at her, hugged Cecelia and walked out the door.
Alexia tried to pull him back to explain, but Edward pushed her away so hard her head hit the wall, and tears formed from the pain.
"Alexia, let's get a divorce."
Alexia fell to the floor, too shocked by Edward's words. She couldn't believe that Edward actually said he wanted a divorce.
The pain in her head didn't compare to the pain in her heart.
The two gangsters tried to leave, thinking their plan had worked, but were stopped by ten muscular bodyguards.
Soon, miserable screams echoed throughout the hotel room.
