Chapter 1

Motel.

Corey Bruce glanced sideways at the woman sleeping beside him, a hint of disdain in his eyes.

Many people wanted to get into his bed, but it was rare for someone to drugged themselves like she did.

He got up, got dressed, left a card on the bedside, and then left the private room.

After a long while, with a loud “bang”, the door to the private room was kicked open violently.

A tall man rushed in, followed by a woman with a strikingly attractive appearance.

In the luxurious private room, clothes were scattered everywhere. The bed was in complete disarray, and the air seemed to carry an air of intimacy.

“Irene Barton, you wretched woman! How dare you cheat on me!”

The man’s eyes were blood-red, and his fury seemed like it might devour him.

He rushed over, grabbed Eileen Barton, who was still asleep, and threw her to the ground without any hesitation.

The intense pain made Eileen Barton let out a muffled cry. She raised her head, somewhat confused.

Her husband, Henry Warren, was staring at her with a fierce expression. Her cousin, Alice Barton, stood beside him.

“Henry, I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

What just happened was too sudden. She wasn’t able to react right away, and her mind wasn’t completely clear.

Henry Warren sneered, his eyes filled with anger. “Still acting innocent in front of me? I’ve only been away on a business trip for a few days, and you already can’t resist going out and finding men. How shameless!”

Eileen Barton still looked confused. Just as she was about to speak in protest, Alice Barton slapped her.

“Irene, I never thought you’d be such a shameless person. You’re already married, yet you still can’t stay put. How can you face Henry like this?”

Although there’s no proof of her being caught in the act, the current situation is more than enough to prove that Eileen Barton is cheating on her husband with another man. There’s no way she can clear herself of this charge!

"I..."

Eileen Barton was about to explain, but suddenly saw her own reflection in the mirror across from her.

Her hair was messy, and she was wearing only a barely transparent nightgown. One of the straps had come loose from her shoulder, revealing of pale skin. Red kiss marks were faintly visible on her skin.

My body ached, as if I’d been run over by a truck.

Finally, she came around. Memories of last night began to surface slowly.

Alice Barton invited her to go drinking. She couldn’t handle alcohol well and got drunk after just a little. She also felt hot all over. Later, she was taken to a private room in a hotel.

She was lying in bed when a man entered shortly after.

The man pressed himself against her in a crude manner, showing no regard for her feelings at all. She couldn’t control herself and could only comply.

Thinking of this, a blush quickly spread across Eileen Barton’s cheeks. She felt too ashamed and embarrassed to even think of staying in one place.

She carefully looked up at Henry Warren, her body trembling with fear. “Henry, please listen to my explanation. Things aren’t as you think…”

“Shut up! Just hearing your voice makes me feel disgusted. You’re not worthy of being my wife. Let’s get divorced.”

Henry Warren turned his head away, not even willing to glance at Eileen Barton out of the corner of his eye.

“Henry, I was wrong. As long as you won’t divorce me, I’ll do whatever you say.” Eileen Barton’s eyes were red with tears. She clung tightly to Henry Warren’s thighs, pleading with him.

The successive deaths of her father and mother left her without hope for a while. It was Henry Warren who stayed by her side during those darkest days. She didn’t want to ruin their marriage because of her own mistakes.

Henry Warren frowned tightly, his eyes filled with disgust. He kicked Eileen Barton away. “Don’t touch me with your dirty hands!”

He disdainfully tapped the spot that Eileen Barton had just touched with his hand, then continued cursing, “I was truly blind to marry a shameless woman like you. You’re nothing but a worthless rich girl with no parents left. I provide you with food and clothing. It’s bad enough that you show no gratitude toward me, but to commit such despicable acts as well!”

Eileen Barton was shocked beyond measure. She never expected the person she loved most to say such vicious things to her.

It felt as though ten thousand ants were simultaneously gnawing at her body, causing pain throughout her internal organs.

“Since that’s the case, I’ll do as you wish.” Eileen Barton gritted her teeth and wiped the tears from her face. “Divorce isn’t a trivial matter. We have time to discuss everything in detail. The division of assets is also an important issue.”

“You had affairs with men behind my back, and now you still have the nerve to demand property? I advise you to leave the marriage with nothing. Otherwise, if this goes to court, everyone will know about your shameless behavior!”

After saying that, Henry Warren threw the divorce agreement, which he had prepared in advance, at Eileen Barton.

Eileen Barton stared blankly at the divorce agreement in her hands, unable to help but smile bitterly.

It turns out he’d already been prepared for this. This incident was merely the catalyst. There were cracks in their marriage long ago, yet she hadn’t noticed at all. How ridiculous.

“I just want to get back the property that my father left to me before he died. I have no interest in anything else.”

Eileen Barton had a determined look in her eyes, and her hand holding the agreement tightened involuntarily.

She was once the young lady of the Su family. Unfortunately, the family declined. Her father couldn’t bear the shock and committed suicide. Her mother passed away shortly after.

The last properties and shares left by the Su family all went to Eileen Barton. Those were the only things her parents had left her, and she certainly wouldn’t give them up easily.

“Things have come this far. Don’t you even want to preserve your last bit of dignity? Do you really want to make a big deal out of this, so that everyone will know you stole a man?”

Alice Barton, sitting nearby, couldn’t sit still. She really wanted Eileen Barton to sign the agreement right away.

Her subordinates were incompetent and accidentally took Eileen Barton to another room. Fortunately, the man living in that room was also a man. According to the surveillance footage, neither of them left the room throughout the night.

When a single man and a single woman are in the same room, it’s impossible for nothing to happen. And indeed, things turned out exactly as she had expected.

Henry Warren, seeing that Eileen Barton kept her head down and said nothing, became even angrier. He grabbed her by the neck and demanded, “I’ve already included the clause about you leaving the marriage with nothing in the divorce agreement. You must sign it today!”

A strong feeling of suffocation overwhelmed her. This must have been the moment when Eileen Barton came closest to death.

She stared at the menacing Henry Warren before her. If she didn’t sign this agreement today, she probably wouldn’t be able to leave this place at all.

The man she once loved now treated her so cruelly. She no longer had any illusions about him.

“I… I’ll sign.” Eileen Barton’s face turned bright red, and veins bulged on her neck. It took all her strength to utter those few words.

Hearing this, Henry Warren smiled slightly and finally released his grip.

“If only I had done this earlier, I wouldn’t have to suffer physically.”

Eileen Barton’s face was covered with a bitter smile. Tears streamed down her face against her will. Her heart was broken. In the end, she signed her name in the wife’s section of the divorce agreement.
