Chapter 2

Henry Warren held the signed divorce agreement in his hands, his face beaming with joy. “That’s great! From now on, all this property will belong to us!”

Alice Barton, who had been watching from the side, stopped hiding her joy once the task was completed. She affectionately put her arm around Henry Warren. “You really know how to do things. With just a little trick, you got her to sign the divorce agreement and give up all that money. Now, we won’t have to worry about money anymore!”

Upon hearing this, Eileen Barton widened her eyes in disbelief, staring at the two smug people before her. She immediately understood what had happened.

It turned out that all of this was a scheme orchestrated by those two, with the goal of getting her to sign the divorce agreement and take away all her property.

What a cruel heart!

“You two are working together to frame me!” Eileen Barton’s eyes were wide with fury. At that moment, she resembled a wild beast on the verge of losing its mind.

Alice Barton sneered, her eyes filled with disdain. “So what if it is? Who’s to blame but you yourself for being stupid and weird?”

Anyway, the divorce agreement has already been signed. It doesn’t matter if Eileen Barton finds out.

Eileen Barton’s head suddenly buzzed loudly. Everything before her eyes became blurred, and she collapsed to the ground.

The entire world slowly shrank before my eyes. The last things I saw were Alice Barton and Henry Warren’s sinister smiles.

A large airport.

A striking mother and child attracted many onlookers. Even paparazzi came over to join in the excitement, thinking some famous celebrity had secretly given birth.

That woman was tall and slender, wearing a yellow trench coat. Even with sunglasses on, it was impossible to hide her stunning face.

Although the little girl next to her was young, she had a remarkable presence. Even a simple plaid dress looked special on her.

Those eyes were especially beautiful, like glowing gems that could capture everyone’s attention.

“This mother and daughter are absolutely stunning. Their fashion sense and overall demeanor are incredible!”

“Quick, take a photo of her! I want to buy the same one online!”

“That little girl has such rosy cheeks; she’s absolutely adorable.”

The mother and daughter were also helpless as they listened to the gossiping people around them. Those people even blocked their path.

“Ladies, please make way. My mother and I have things to attend to. Thank you.”

Theresa Barton stood in front of everyone like a little adult, speaking in a very endearing manner.

The people watching nearby became even more excited and started discussing the matter among themselves.

“Look at how neatly those children speak. It’s really interesting.”

“Isn’t that so? Look at that little face of hers—it’s practically melting me.”

“This child is so well-mannered. It’s clear that adults have taught him well.”

Although they were very curious about the mother and daughter, they politely stepped aside to let them pass.

Eileen Barton held Teresa Barton’s little hand, her gaze gentle as water. “Let’s go!”

Theresa Barton nodded and followed Eileen Barton with quick, light steps.

After leaving the airport, the two saw a black Bentley parked by the roadside. There was also a woman in a professional outfit standing in front of the car.

“Aileen, you’re finally back.”

Emily Church rushed over excitedly and gave Eileen Barton a hug, her face beaming with joy.

She’s a friend of Eileen Barton’s from abroad. She returned to her home country due to work-related reasons. Now, she’s the marketing manager for DL, the largest fashion brand in the country.

“The company must be pretty busy lately. You still took the time to come pick me up from the airport. Thank you so much for your effort.”

Eileen Barton took off her sunglasses. Her eyes were still as bright and beautiful as before, though a few years of experience had added a touch of wisdom and maturity to them.

“You’re now a renowned top designer. I’m here to flatter you. After work, I’ll take you all out for a great meal to welcome you.” Emily Church said jokingly with a smile.

“Then we’ll definitely take good advantage of you!”

Eileen Barton seemed relaxed on the surface, but only she knew how much suffering she endured in private.

Back then, she was saved by a cleaner who happened to be there when she fainted. Later, at her father’s old friend’s arrangement, she went abroad.

Before long, she found out that she was pregnant again. She didn’t want to have this child. However, the doctor said that her health was poor, and having an abortion might result in infertility. With no other choice, she decided to give birth to the child.

During that time, she had to work every day while also taking care of her child. Thinking back now, it’s hard to believe how she managed to get through it. But no matter how difficult it was, whenever she saw Teresa Barton’s smile, everything seemed worth it.

Emily Church glanced at Teresa Barton beside her. Seeing how lovely she was, her eyes immediately lit up.

“I never thought you’d grow up to be this pretty. You’re even cuter in person than in the photos. I really have no idea who you got your looks from.”

After saying that, he gently touched Teresa Barton’s head, his eyes filled with affection.

“Auntie, you’re getting more and more beautiful too.”

Theresa Barton’s eyes curved into crescents as she laughed. Her rosy cheeks made one want to pinch them.

Emily Church was overjoyed by these words. She hugged Teresa Barton tightly and wouldn’t let go. “Your little mouth is simply too sweet! You’re absolutely adorable.”

Theresa Barton’s face was squashed against Emily Church’s chest, rendering it deformed. She looked at Eileen Barton for help.

“Alright, let’s go. Don’t you need to get back to the company?” Eileen Barton quickly changed the subject.

Hearing this, Emily Church finally realized, “Oh, right. All of this attention has been drawn away by your lovely daughter. We’ve completely forgotten about what’s really important.”

Eileen Barton smiled helplessly, thinking to herself that her daughter really was charming.

Emily Church put her luggage in the trunk, then got into the driver’s seat. Eileen Barton and Theresa Barton also got into the car.

The cherry blossoms planted along both sides of the street are in bloom. The petals are carried around by the wind, creating a scene as romantic as those seen in movies.

“Wow, this is absolutely beautiful! It’s like a fairyland!” Teresa Barton’s round eyes were wide with amazement. Her exclamation was truly heartfelt.

Eileen Barton stared out the window, lost in thought, filled with emotion.

Five years have passed. The cherry blossoms along these roads are still just as beautiful. But for her, everything has changed forever. There’s no going back anymore.

In the past, the whole family would come here to enjoy the cherry blossoms. Those laughter and joy seem to still be ringing in her ears. But now, all she feels is sadness, and her eyes fill with tears.

“Mom, don’t worry. I’ll definitely take you to see all kinds of beautiful scenery in the future.”

Theresa Barton knew that this was a place that made her mother sad, so she quickly tried to find words to comfort her.

Eileen Barton held Teresa Barton in her arms, and most of the negative emotions disappeared.

“Seeing how great the relationship is between you two, I almost feel like I want to have a daughter too.”

Emily Church thought the interaction between mother and daughter was very affectionate, and couldn’t help but feel envious.
