Chapter 179

Carol’s POV

My head ached when I finally woke up. My memories were a bit foggy, but I remembered Allen’s face and the fear I felt just before I passed out. Allen did something to me and now I was facing the consequences.

My heart was hammering in my chest as I lifted my head off the cold cement ground that I was lying on. Where the hell was I?

It was so dark I couldn’t see my surroundings at first, but I soon saw that I was in some kind of basement. The chains around my legs prevented me from going anywhere, but for some reason, he kept my arms free. It was a dark and open floor plan, so he didn’t keep me in some kind of cage thankfully.

Panic set in; what had he done to me? How long had I been out for? Did he do something to hurt my baby?

I put my hands on my belly as if I could feel for my baby, but I knew that was a futile attempt. There was no way I was going to be able to feel my baby. I was doomed. I was locked in this basement, and nobody was ever going to find out where I was. I hadn’t told anybody that I was going to the doctor, or that I was going with Allen.

What if Aiden thinks I abandoned him or something?

No. He would know something was wrong. I was his mate, and his wolf would be able to feel that I was in danger. He will come to find me; I have to believe that Aiden will come for me.

Then again, I have been blocking him out lately. Maybe he wouldn’t feel that I was in danger.

“I see you’re awake,” a voice said from within the darkness of the basement.

I looked up to see Allen walking towards me, he looked a bit disheveled and a little crazed. How had I not noticed this about him before?

“What do you want with me?” I asked him, my voice coming out hoarse.

He stepped closer to me, and I flinched away, not wanting this man to be anywhere near me.

“Isn’t it obvious, Carol? I want you. I want us to be a family,” he told me. “We have a connection, and I want to explore that with you.”

“You are insane, Allen. I’m already committed to my mate,” I spat at him. “Just let me go and I’ll pretend this never happened. I won’t say a word, I promise.”

He let out a bitter laugh.

“And you think I will believe that?” He asked, raising his brows. “I let you go and I’m as good as dead. I’m sorry, but it’s just not possible. I need to keep you here. You need to be my wife, and we need to be a family.”

I shook my head as tears filled my eyes.

“You will never get away with this,” I said through my teeth, my tone trembling only slightly. “Aiden will find out that I’m missing, and he will come for me.”

“No, he won’t. I’m afraid you are stuck here until I say otherwise and my darling Carol… I’m not going to say anything,” he said as he stepped even closer to me. I was already against the wall at this point, so there was no other place for me to escape.

Whatever drugs he gave me, made me feel weak and I just wanted to close my eyes again. But I kept them open and fixed them on Allen’s face.

“You don’t want me, Allen. Tell me who is making you capture me. Who wants me dead?”

He let out a laugh and shook his head.

“If I told you that, I truly would have to kill you, and I don’t want you to die. I love you. What part of that don’t you understand? She doesn’t get my feelings for you, but I refuse to hurt you.”

My bottom lip trembled; he was serious. He was never going to let me go. I was stuck here until Goddess knows when.

I wrapped my arms around my body like I was desperately trying to hold myself together. I hated feeling his vulnerability and I hated that I was stupid enough to trust him. I should have told Aiden the truth from the very beginning. Maybe then I wouldn’t have to face the wrath of Allen.

I gasped as I thought about my unborn child. My hands instinctively went to my stomach.

“My baby,” I gasped. “What had you done??”

He frowned at me and almost looked insulted.

“I would never hurt our child, Carol. Rest assured; the baby is fine.”

Our child??

“This baby is not yours,” I said through my teeth.

Before I knew what was happening, he grabbed my face and held it so I was forced to stare into his eyes, a large smile spread across his face.

“Oh, but this baby is mine, just like you are mine. You are my family and I’m not going to let anything happen to my family. Get used to your new home, Carol. Because you are never getting away from me; that’s a promise.”

I whimpered at his words and when he released me, I felt the imprint of his fingers on my skin. He stepped away from me.

“You’ll see soon enough that we are meant to be together. Once it’s the full moon, we’ll be able to remove that pesky little mark on your neck and put my own mark on you, your mate bond will be broken.”

I sucked in a sharp breath.

He was a monster.

He started to walk away.

“Where are you going??” I asked him, my voice sounding almost desperate.

He didn’t answer, he disappeared into the darkness, and I heard him walking up the basement stairs.

“Please, Allen! Just let me go!!” I pleaded, but it was no use, the cellar doors slammed shut and I was once again, completely alone.

Tears flooded down my cheeks and a sob escaped my lips as I buried my face in my lap. This was it… I was going to be a prisoner of Allen and as of now, there was no hope of escape.

I wrapped my arms around my body like I was desperately trying to hold myself together. As I rubbed my belly, I whispered things to my unborn baby. telling the baby that it was going to be okay and that I was going to find a way out of there. Allen told me he wasn’t going to kill me, so there was hope that I’d be able to escape at some point.

After a while of sitting alone in the dark basement, I found myself exhausted and I laid on the cold cement ground to get a little sleep. I wasn’t sure if Allen was going to see me again tonight and based on the small window in the corner, I could tell that it was nighttime. Allen could very well be sleeping right about now. It’s felt like hours since he last saw me.

I closed my eyes and forced my trembling body to calm enough so I could get some sleep.

I woke up to the sounds of a tray hitting the cold ground and I quickly sat up, blinking away the sleep out of my eyes.

Allen was standing above me, smiling.

“Good morning, beautiful,” he said. “I brought you some breakfast.”

I glanced at the tray in front of me and saw that he made bacon, eggs, and toast. My stomach rumbled having nothing in it. Yet at the same time, I also didn’t feel comfortable eating anything he had to offer me.

“It’s not like I’m going to poison you,” he laughed as if he could read my mind. “It’s completely safe. I promise.”

I frowned at him and the plate in front of me.

“I’m not hungry,” I lied.

“Well, you are eating for two and need your nutrition,” he told me, pointing to the food. “Eat up.”

I swallowed the lump in my throat and kept my eyes fixed on the food. He was right; I couldn’t punish my baby by not eating. I should eat something. I hesitantly picked up the fork and started to nibble on the eggs slowly. I hardly spared him a glance as I ate the food, but I could feel his gaze on me the entire time.

“You are so beautiful,” he breathed, giving me an uneasy feeling.

“Please, don’t,” I murmured, keeping my eyes downcast.

“You are my future mate. I can compliment you if I want,” he said, narrowing his eyes at me.

“Aiden will find me and stop you,” I said through my teeth, finally looking up at him.

At one point, I tried to use my powers on him to get him to release me, but either the drugs he gave me or the cuffs around my legs were blocking them out. I felt so powerless.

Allen laughed as he pulled out his phone.

“I think he’s preoccupied,” Allen said as he swiped around the screen.

When he found what he was looking for, he showed me the screen and I gasped when I saw the image on the screen.

It was a picture of Aiden and Katrina. They seemed to be hugging, and Katrina’s face was buried in the nape of his neck!

“It seems your mate moved on quickly,” Allen chuckled.
