Chapter 183
Aiden’s POV
“What’s the password to her phone?” I asked, glaring at the name that flashed across Katrina’s phone. It was Allen’s name. She was in contact with the person Carol was last seen with. I could hardly contain my own anger; my fists clenched tightly around the phone, my knuckles going white. I was surprised that the phone didn’t shatter in my hands.
“Probably something basic like her birthday,” Oliver suggested.
When I tried her birthday and it didn’t work, I let out a throaty growl.
“Try your birthday,” Fiona said, narrowing her eyes at the phone. “She’s just crazy enough to do that.”
I didn’t want to believe that Katrina was that crazy, but at this point, I would do anything to find Carol. I had a feeling the answers to my questions were on Katrina’s phone. I didn’t want to believe that Katrina, my long-time friend, had anything to do with Carol’s disappearance, but I didn’t have a good feeling about this.
I typed in my birthday and when her phone unlocked, my chest tightened. She truly was a crazy bitch. Fiona scoffed and rolled her eyes as she looked away, unable to look at the phone any longer.
“You should hurry,” Oliver said, glancing at the bathroom door. “Katrina will be done soon and she’s going to want her phone.”
It didn’t take me long to get into her messages and the first name that popped up was Allen’s.
Allen: Katrina, babe. Are you still there? You hung up pretty quickly.
Allen: Just call me back when you can. I’ll dispose of her body tonight and then you can seduce the Alpha.
Allen: I can’t wait for us to take over the pack, steal the Cruz fortune, and be together forever. Just as we always planned. I love you.
My heart fell deep into my stomach; not because it was clear Katrina had been seeing this man, but because she’s been working with him against me, wanting to get my title and my family's money.
However, those weren’t the words that stayed with me. I stared at the words “dispose of her body.” My entire body felt numb.
“What is it?” Oliver asked after a beat of silence as he walked up beside me. I couldn’t speak; I was too stunned to say anything. I was staring at the words as if they might change and mean something different, but they were clear as day. They were insinuating that Allen had killed Carol and he was planning on getting rid of her body tonight.
I felt sick to my stomach.
When I didn’t reply to Oliver right away, he grabbed the phone from my hand, having to pry it out of my clutch. He read the messages, and his face had gone pale. Now Fiona was staring at him with worry clear on her face.
“What’s wrong?” She asked, trying to see the messages.
“Carol is in trouble,” Oliver said, his voice low and calm.
“How do you know? Did that asshole say something? What’s going on?” Fiona asked, her voice rising.
The door of the bathroom opened, and Katrina walked out; she had a small smile on her lips as if she had no care in the world. But I was seeing fucking red. I don’t know when I approached her, but the next thing I knew my hand was around her throat and I shoved her against the wall; the wall cracked from the force and she desperately tried to grip my hand, trying to get me to loosen my grip around her throat, but I was pissed, and I wasn’t relenting.
“Tell me where she is!!!” I growled, my wolf surging to take full control. I only allowed him some control which was evident in my eyes. I’m sure they could feel my Alpha powers rolling off me in waves along with my fury.
“I… I don’t…”
“Don’t lie to me, Katrina!” I roared. “I know you did something to her. Tell me where she is!!”
“Y…you’re hurting me…” she croaked, her face turning bright red as she struggled to breathe.
“Why are you working with him??” I asked through my teeth, my eyes deadly as I glared daggers into her soul.
Her eyes widened in shock.
Oliver stepped beside me and held up her phone for her to see, Allen’s name clearly on display with his recent messages. She struggled to gasp for breath as she flailed her arms, trying to grab something on the wall to keep her stable. But I was too strong and too pissed off.
“You better start talking before he kills you,” Oliver said, handing the phone behind him to Fiona so she could read the messages.
I heard her letting out a sob as she staggered backward.
“Oh, God… no…” she sobbed. “What did this bitch do??”
“Tell me the truth, Katrina,” I growled fiercely, tightening my hand around her neck until her face was nearly blue. “Where is my mate?”
Her eyes narrowed and I could see them turning red with her own anger, but her wolf wasn’t strong enough to take me down. So, all she could do was simmer in her anger and fight for her life as I squeezed it out of her.
“Dead…” she hissed.
I roared loudly as my wolf surged again, wanting to take full control. If I killed her without an actual trial and without alerting the Alpha King, I could be in huge trouble and end up losing my title. I could end up losing my chance of ever finding Carol, I needed to rein my wolf in and make sure he didn’t do anything stupid before I found my mate.
Then again, would the Alpha King even care if I killed the woman who was set out to kill his daughter?
“Alpha…” Oliver said, his voice filled with concern. “News of Carol’s disappearance is making its way through social media and the news outlet. Your mother is the leader of the search team.”
I smirked at that news, though I wasn’t particularly pleased that the news outlet was covering her disappearance. That meant the Alpha King would get wind of it soon as well.
Then again, maybe I could use that to my advantage.
“If the Alpha King finds out about this, he won’t hesitate to kill you,” I sneered. “And we both know he will stop at nothing to get the information out of you.”
Her body trembled and I could see a flash of fear in her eyes, but it was gone before I could blink, replaced with only defiance.
“Oliver, could you track Allen’s location using Katrina’s phone?” Fiona asked.
“It depends on the kind of phone Allen has,” Oliver answered. “If he’s using a burner phone, then no.”
“He’s not that smart,” I growled. “Try it. See if you can track him.”
“Sure,” Oliver said, taking the phone back from Fiona.
I released Katrina’s throat and watched her fall to the ground with a thud. She grabbed at her aching neck and took deep breaths, trying to fill her lungs. Her entire body continued to tremble, and my handprint was all around her throat, leaving a nasty bruise.
I couldn’t care less though.
Oliver was typing away on the phone, his eyes focused. Fiona had tears in her eyes and had her arms wrapped around her own body as she watched her mate hard at work. Under any other circumstances, it would have been fascinating to watch. Oliver had always been great at technology and hacking. I knew he’d be able to find the location with no issues.
He bit his bottom lip as his fingers continued to type and swipe across the screen and then I saw his eyes light up. I knew that look; he found something. He first looked up and met Fiona’s eyes. She was hardly breathing as she stared back at him and then he looked back at me and nodded.
“I got his location,” he said with a grin.
I nodded, but I didn’t feel relieved, I was worried about what we would find once we got to that location.
“No!” Katrina growled.
She went to the lung for her phone, but I kicked her so hard it knocked the window out of her; she slammed against the wall with an ear-piercing scream.
“I just sent you to the location,” Oliver said. “Go and find Carol. I’ll stay with this bitch. I already mindlinked Luca; he’s on his way to take care of her.”
“Put her in the dungeon,” I said through my teeth.
I started to walk past Oliver, but Fiona grabbed my arm.
“Let me come with you,” she said urgently. “I want to be there… I need to see her.”
“No,” Oliver said, grabbing her arm and pulling her into his arms. “You are staying with me where I can keep an eye on you. I need to know that you are safe.”
“But—”
“He’s right, Fiona. It’s better if you stay here. I’ll mindlink a small team and go to this location myself. I’m not sure what I’m going to find but—”
“Don’t say that,” Fiona said, stopping my words. “She’s going to be okay. You are going to find her and it’s going to be okay…”
I nodded.
“She’ll be okay,” I said softly.
She put her hand on my arm and gave me a wry smile.
“Bring our girl home, Alpha.”
