Chapter 205
Carol’s POV
“What the actual fuck?!” Jenna screeched, making my heart fall into my stomach. I stepped into the room and saw that she was standing directly on the other side of the door and her wine glass had shattered to the ground. Red wine was now staining her pink blouse and her perfect plump lips were pressed in a thin line as her cheeks grew even redder with fury. When her gaze lifted to meet mine, they turned icy, and she narrowed them in my direction. “I should have known you would have done something like this,” she said through her teeth.
I felt the color draining from my face as I stared at her.
“What are you talking about?” I asked her, my voice coming out shocked and confused.
She rolled her eyes at me and folded my arms across her chest.
“You slammed the door open knowing I was only on the other side of it and got wine all over me. You did this on purpose,” she hissed. “How dare you pull such a stunt!”
My jaw nearly dropped from her words.
“Are you insane?” I asked, shaking my head at her antics. “That was the opposite of what I wanted. I would never do something like that.”
“You are such a fucking liar, Carol!” She growled.
I looked around the room and saw that we were the only ones in the room. But a moment later, I heard the other door on the other side of the room opening and Queen Elizabeth walking in. I had to stifle a groan; this was the last thing I needed right now, to get bombarded by both Jenna and her mother.
“What is going on in here?” The Queen asked as she marched in.
Jenna turned to face her mother; tears were now running out of her eyes which I knew were fake.
“Look what Carol did!!” Jenna cried. “She ruined my favorite blouse!”
“I didn’t do that on purpose,” I said, shaking my head, but I knew it was no use. They were going to team up against me.
“She’s lying,” Jenna whaled. “She slammed the door in my face, and I spilled the wine on me after dropping it.”
She pointed to the glass on the ground.
“Now darling, I’m sure Carol has a good reason behind doing what she did,” Elizabeth said, giving me a condescending look. “She obviously doesn’t understand good clothing and how much certain brands cost.”
I was about to do something but then the King walked in with a couple of gamma warriors.
“Everything okay?” He asked, looking between the rest of us with a frown on his lips.
“There seemed to have been an incident,” the Queen said, folding her arms across her chest. “I believe Carol owes my daughter an apology.”
The King raised his brows and then looked at me.
“is that so?”
“It wasn’t on purpose; I didn’t know she was on the other side of the room,” I said through my teeth. “She’s accusing me of doing this on purpose.”
King Bennet glanced down at the wine glass and then Jenna with a deep frown.
“You should go change, Jenna.”
She pressed her lips together in a thin line.
“Not until she apologizes to me,” she demanded, pointing at me with her long and slender finger.
The King sighed and turned to face me.
“Accident or not, you should still apologize,” he told me, sounding defeated. “I’d like us to have a peaceful dinner this evening. I’m already exhausted as it is. Please, Carol. Just apologize.”
I pressed my lips together and turned to Jenna who was now smirking at me as if she expected that I would get on my knees and beg for her forgiveness.
“I’m sorry princess. It was my mistake,” I told her.
“Good,” he said before turning ot face Jenna. “Now go change; we are about to have dinner.”
She pouted, frustrated, and then she retreated out of the room.
….
Third Person POV
Jenna couldn’t sleep a wink all night; the only thing she could think about was the fact that her bitch of a half-sister was invading her territory, and she was after her title as the princess and future queen. The title had been promised to Jenan since birth and having Carol around is ruining her chances of ever gaining the power she seeks.
She couldn’t stand her with every fiber of her being.
Jenna started to walk down the grand staircase exhaustion filling her every aching bone. A hand grabbed her wrist and whipped her around, making her gasp sharply. She was looking into the angry eyes of her mother who was sneering at her. If there was anyone Jenna was afraid of most in this world, it was her mother.
If anyone thought Jenna was bad, her mother was the one pulling all the strings.
“I thought I asked you to get rid of her; want to tell me why she’s in our private suites?” Her mother asked through her teeth.
Jenna swallowed and continued to stare her mother in the eyes.
“Perhaps you should ask your husband,” Jenna fired back.
She knew she shouldn’t have spoken back to her mother so she wasn’t surprised when her hand came out of nowhere and slapped Jenna across her face. She felt the sting before she heard the slap and comprehended what had happened. She winced, tears burning in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall in front of her mother. She wasn’t about to show that kind of weakness in front of the queen knowing her punishment would only be worse.
“You failed me last night,” the queen hissed. “Tell me, my daughter. Are you not capable of becoming a queen one day?”
Jenna swallowed the lump in her throat.
“I was born and raised to be a queen,” Jenna said firmly.
“Then why are you unable to squash this bug? I left it up to you for a reason… so you could prove yourself worthy of the title.”
Jenna wanted to fire back that she couldn’t even squash this bug when she was an infant because she was somehow still alive after she was supposed to be sent to her death. But she knew better than to say that type of thing to her mother, so she bit her tongue and remained a calm composure.
“I’ll take care of it,” Jenna finally said after a moment of silence.
“You better,” the queen said in a growl. “Because if I have to take care of it myself, you won’t like your punishment.”
Elizabeth released her hold on Jenna’s arm, leaving it red and swollen.
“Yes, mother,” Jenna said softly.
She watched her mother’s retreating back until she was around the corner and then Jenna let out the breath, she hadn’t known she was holding. She reached into the pocket of her designer jeans and pulled out a small baggie of drugs that she’d been keeping for a special occasion.
What better time to use it than the present?
She grabbed her phone and scrolled through the contacts until she reached the one person, she knew would help her in this situation because he happened to owe her a favor.
“Cashing in?”
She smirked at his greeting.
“Why else would I be calling you?” She asked.
“What do you need?”
“I have a proposition for you, and I think you might actually like this,” she said, an evil glint in her eyes.
As she explained what she needed him to do she could feel him growing even more excited. By the time she hung up, she spotted her handmaiden, Alice, walking towards the kitchen.
She smirked as she followed Alice into the kitchen.
She watched the maid pour a cup of tea and then get some sweeteners and milk prepared.
“Who is this for?” Jenna asked, startling her.
She whipped around to face Jenna; her eyes wide and alert.
“Princess,” she greeted, bowing shakily. “I didn’t hear you come in.”
Most maids had heard of Jenna’s reputation and she liked the fact that they feared her. It filled her with a sense sense of joy.
“Answer my question,” Jenna demanded. “Who is that for?”
She swallowed.
“Miss Carol requested decaf tea this morning because she’s pregnant and can’t have caffeine,” Alice explained. “So, I was bringing her some…”
Jenna glanced at the tea.
“I see…” she murmured. “Carry on then.”
Alice looked hesitant.
“Can I get you anything?” She asked after a moment of silence.
“It can wait until after you serve our guest,” Jenna said with fake sincerity.
Alice still looked uncertain, but she nodded. She turned and continued to get the milk from the fridge. Jenna looked around to make sure no one else was in the kitchen and when the coast was clear, she grabbed the baggie of drugs and carefully crushed them in the palm of her hands. She walked over to the tea and sprinkled it into the cup, stirring it with her finger until it dissolved completely.
She quickly hid her hand behind her back when Alice returned to the cup with the platter of sweetener and milk.
“I will come to find you once I’m done, Princess,” she said, placing the cup on the platter and bowing slightly.
Jenna nodded and watched as Alice left the kitchen. A slow smirk spread across her face. Carol had no idea what was awaiting her.
