Chapter 1

But on the day we were discussing our wedding, the ring his men delivered had someone else's name engraved on it.

I pretended nothing was wrong and turned to look at Terence.

"Is this the wrong ring? Who's Doris? I've never heard of her."

Terence's expression didn't change. He pulled me into his arms affectionately.

"My people weren't careful enough. It's just a silly mistake."

"I'll have them exchange it right away. Can't keep my queen waiting."

I smiled, but the moment I turned around, my face went cold. I made a phone call.

"Didn't you say you'd pay any price to marry me? Terence Hall betrayed me. I want him dead!"

Chapter 1

After hanging up, I immediately contacted my people to investigate everything about this "Doris."

The truth came out quickly.

Doris Evelyn, formerly a doctor, had been Terence Hall's mistress for three years.

What I couldn't accept even more was that Terence Hall had already proposed to her.

And the proposal date was the same day I was rushed to the ICU after saving him.

My heart clenched hard, my hand instinctively tightening into a fist.

A year ago, Terence Hall was ambushed. At the critical moment, I took a fatal bullet for him and spent three whole days in emergency care.

I never imagined that during those three days, while I was hovering between life and death, he was planning a future with another woman.

My eyes instantly turned red. Following the address my people found, I went straight to her door.

The moment she opened it, Doris's excited smile froze on her face, fear flashing in her eyes.

So she knew about me.

I sneered and pointed my gun directly at her forehead.

"Doris, right? When you were seducing Terence Hall, did you ever think about today?"

She collapsed to the floor, her body shaking uncontrollably.

"No... I don't know what you're talking about. Terence and I are just friends..."

Her eyes were red, looking scared and wronged, as if I'd really accused her unfairly.

If I hadn't seen the three-hundred-million-dollar diamond bracelet on her wrist, I might have believed her.

That bracelet was what Terence Hall bought for me at auction on my birthday five years ago, lighting up the sky with lanterns.

Unfortunately, after I was shot and fell into a coma last year, the bracelet disappeared when I woke up.

Terence said it must have been lost during the chaos, and promised to buy me an identical one someday.

Turns out "lost" meant he'd given it to his little mistress.

My eyes went cold. I kicked Doris aside and walked into the villa Terence had bought for her.

In the living room, a huge wedding photo covered an entire wall—a picture of them kissing.

My pupils contracted as I stared at the wedding dress Doris wore in the photo.

It was the last creation of my mother, Maria, a designer, before she died. She'd designed it specifically for me. It was her legacy!

I'd planned to wear it when Terence and I got married.

But he'd secretly given my mother's work to another woman!

The intense emotions made my body sway involuntarily, my vision going dark.

But as I grabbed the table to steady myself, I knocked over a baby bottle that hadn't been put away yet.

I looked at Doris in disbelief, only then noticing her loose clothing and slightly sagging belly—the telltale signs of recent childbirth.

I'd actually been trying to get pregnant all these years. I'd wanted a child with Terence for so long.

But Terence refused, no matter what. He always said he didn't like children and didn't want my body damaged by pregnancy.

Only now did I realize—he didn't dislike children. He just didn't want children with me.

With a bitter laugh, I suppressed the rage in my heart. I took one last look at Doris and that wedding photo full of betrayal, then turned and left.
