I kept walking ignoring mom's heavy footsteps rushing up behind me. She was about to grab my arm when her phone suddenly rang. 

"Hey, baby girl," Mom cooed into the phone. Her tone shifted to pure honey. "Are you feeling better? Don't you worry, I’ll send Abbie right over with your lunch."
