Chapter 1 One Night Stand with Him
Giselle Montague had just walked into the office when a colleague pulled her aside mysteriously.
"I've got some big news for you! Last night the Boss was drugged and slept with someone, and now he's searching everywhere for that woman!"
Giselle's body suddenly stiffened.
Her colleague didn't notice anything unusual and kept whispering on and on.
"You didn't see it—the Boss's neck is covered in hickeys. Oh my god, so intense! I wonder who was bold enough to do that!"
"The Boss has always stayed away from women. He's twenty-eight this year and has never had a woman by his side. A few bold ones before tried to use tricks to sleep with him for power and status, but not only were their reputations destroyed, their entire families were dragged down and left with nowhere to stand!"
"If that woman gets caught, I can't even imagine the consequences!"
Giselle's face turned pale as she dug her nails hard into her palm.
She didn't dare say that she was that recklessly bold unlucky person.
But she hadn't done it on purpose either.
Yesterday she went to a company team-building event with colleagues. She couldn't hold her liquor well and accidentally got drunk, then stumbled into the wrong room in her daze!
Valentin Dobbins had obviously been drinking too. Somehow they ended up in each other's arms and accidentally slept together.
When she woke up, Valentin was in the shower. She happened to see his passport and that's when she learned his identity.
She was just an ordinary girl with no background. With something like this happening and Valentin's methods, he could definitely make her disappear without a trace!
So Giselle didn't dare waste a single moment—she threw on her clothes and fled the hotel.
Listening to her colleague's chatter, Giselle's heart slowly sank.
Fortunately, she was just a low-level employee. In three months of interning, she'd never even run into Valentin, so he probably wouldn't know who she was.
With a bit of hope, Giselle said dismissively, "That woman is pretty bold. I hope the Boss finds her soon."
Her colleague noticed she seemed distracted and instinctively wanted to show concern, but their supervisor Ryder Martin strode into the meeting room.
"All you interns, get ready. Meet in the main conference room at ten o'clock."
"Everyone pay attention—Mr. Dobbins is personally holding this meeting. Don't mess anything up!"
Giselle's heart tightened—
Why would Valentin want to meet with low-level interns like them?
It couldn't be that she'd left some clue behind yesterday.
Anxiously, she followed the other interns in acknowledging the order, her mind uneasy.
Meanwhile, Valentin sat in his office.
Thinking about last night's absurdity, he couldn't help wanting to relive it.
Last night he'd been drugged by some reckless minor celebrity. He was going to call a doctor, but then a drunk girl stumbled in. She gave off a light, delicate fragrance that made him unable to resist falling into temptation.
For the first time in twenty-eight years, he'd felt interest in a woman.
Unfortunately, his consciousness had been hazy at the time and he couldn't remember what she looked like.
The hallway surveillance happened to be broken too, so finding that woman was going to be somewhat troublesome.
As he pondered, his assistant Brian Scott hurried in with an envelope. "Boss, we searched the room and only found this."
Valentin frowned slightly, opened it, and saw neat handwriting on the paper with a name at the bottom.
【Stella Montague】
A glint flashed in his eyes. "Look into her identity and bring her to me."
Brian obediently agreed, then said, "Boss, we've already notified the new batch of interns to come for the meeting. The resumes are all organized. These are the ones I think are most suitable."
Valentin reached out to flip through them, then suddenly paused, his gaze landing on one particular resume.
"Giselle Montague?"
He stared at those words, feeling the handwriting looked somewhat similar to that in the letter.
But he didn't think much of it and casually set the resume aside.
"Prepare for the meeting."
Time quickly approached ten o'clock.
Giselle was about to head upstairs with her colleagues when her phone rang just as she came downstairs.
Worried about wasting time, she hung up, but the phone kept ringing persistently like a death knell, non-stop.
She reluctantly answered, and a shrill scolding voice came through the receiver.
"You bastard! Where did you go? Why didn't you come home last night?"
"I told you to help Stella write an application letter to mail to that art school in Astoria. Did you get it done or not!"
Giselle dug her nails into her palm.
The caller was my mother, Susan Smith, and the Stella she mentioned was my sister, Stella Montague.
Stella had been pampered and cherished since childhood, while I grew up like a weed with no one to care for me.
My parents, Nolan Montague and Susan, didn't even want me to go to college.
If I hadn't had excellent grades and gotten scholarships, I would have been forced to marry a rich old man right after high school.
Meanwhile, Stella got into art school with the family's money, then after graduation made a fuss about studying abroad. Nolan and Susan didn't even blink, and made me run around helping her apply.
Coming back to her senses, Giselle suppressed the bitterness in her heart. "Yesterday the company had a team-building event I couldn't refuse..."
"Useless! Is your little job more important than Stella? I think you just can't stand to see Stella do well!"
Susan's scolding through the receiver grew more vicious. "You get your ass over there and mail that letter right now! If you delay Stella's application, I'll make sure you pay for it, you damn bitch!"
Click—the phone hung up.
Giselle took a deep breath, planning to mail the letter after the meeting, but when she reached into her bag, she discovered the letter that had been there was gone!
How could it be lost?
As she stood there stunned, Ryder's voice came from behind her.
"Giselle, why aren't you at the meeting yet?"
She snapped back to attention and quickly apologized. "I'm sorry, Mr. Martin. I'll go right away!"
But by the time she rushed to the meeting room, it was already 10:03.
In the conference room, the other interns were already in place.
Valentin sat in the main seat wearing a black suit, with sharp brow bones, a high nose bridge, and hair combed back meticulously. His hawk-like eyes were unfathomably deep, and every contour revealed coldness.
Even though he was just sitting there calmly, the sense of pressure hit you in the face.
Hearing footsteps, he looked up, his gaze slowly locking onto Giselle.
Giselle's scalp immediately tightened as she heard his icy voice explode in her ears. "You—your name is Giselle?"
Her fingers trembled uncontrollably, her heart already sinking to rock bottom.
Had he recognized her?
Why so fast?
"Yes, I am..."
She forced her lips to move, her mind uncontrollably recalling how he'd gripped her waist last night, biting and taking her.
What should she do now? How would he deal with her?
Before she could collect herself, he rotated the pen in his hand, his tone ice-cold.
"I thought after three months of interning, everyone here would have memorized the Dobbins Group's employee code by heart."
"The meeting was at ten o'clock. You're a full five minutes late, Ms. Montague. Do you have any regard for company rules?"
Giselle stood frozen in place, at a loss.
Did he mean...
The next second, Valentin put down his pen.
"Pack up your things. Your internship is over. The company will not be hiring you."
