Five

Ellie paced around the grand mansion, her forehead glistening with sweat.

This had to be a joke.

Diego had returned from Singapore and hadn’t even come home?

Instead, he spent the night with some cheap whore?

Her phone buzzed in her hand. She hesitated, then swiped across the screen.

"Yes, Sylvia, what did you find?" she asked, voice strained.

“Ma’am, the boss spent the night with the girl. The club belongs to Silina Berwick. From what I’ve gathered, she’s more than just a club owner, she also smuggles drugs. Sir paid ten million dollars just to sleep with the girl Madam Silina gave him.”

Ellie’s eyes narrowed, her gaze darkening.

Ten million dollars? For a single night?

What could be so special about this girl?

She had to see her.

For Diego to sleep with a girl in that kind of place, there had to be something more.

“I need to see her,” Ellie said coldly.

“Ma’am? See who? Madam Silina?”

“Yes. Madam Silina will show me the girl,” Ellie replied, confidence dripping from her voice.

“Rumors say she keeps her girls private…”

“Well, not from me. Pick me up tomorrow morning, we have business to handle.” Her jaw clenched tight, knuckles whitening around the phone.

“Okay, ma’am.”

Ellie ended the call and threw the phone across the room.

She ran her fingers through her hair in frustration, then caught sight of a golden vase on the table. With one swift motion, she grabbed it and hurled it against the wall, the crash echoing like thunder.

Her maid, startled, stood frozen at the sound.

“Are you still standing there like a statue, bitch?” Ellie snapped. “Clean this shit up!”

The maid rushed forward, trembling, grabbing a broom.

Diego hadn’t even called.

Didn’t ask how she was.

With trembling fingers, she redialed his number.

“The number you’re trying to reach is currently unavailable. Please try again later…”

The machine voice echoed, again and again, until Ellie smashed the phone on the floor.

“He turned off his phone. Damn it!”

Morning came fast.

Ellie hadn’t slept a wink.

She’d been waiting, seething, rehearsing what she would say.

She stepped into the shower, dressed in her most expensive clothes, diamonds glittering at her neck and wrist. Then she strode into the grand sitting room.

Sylvia was already waiting, poised and alert.

“How long have you been standing there?” Ellie asked, her tone cold.

“Two hours, ma’am.”

“Good.”

She smirked. “Today, we take the Rolls-Royce. Let’s go.”

They stepped outside, and Ellie snapped her fingers.

The guards hurried to attention. “Good morning, ma’am.”

“Prepare the Rolls-Royce. We’re leaving now.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Ellie entered the car with Sylvia and they sped off.

They stopped at an old, worn-down building.

It looked like a run-down daycare center.

“This is the club?” Ellie asked, her voice dripping with mockery.

“Yes, ma’am. It’s a disguise. Inside, they have private, luxurious rooms,” Sylvia explained.

Ellie nodded, slid on her sunglasses, and stepped out. The door slammed behind her. Sylvia followed closely.

At the entrance, a tall man stood guard. His brows furrowed at their expensive appearance.

“I’d like to see the owner of this place,” Ellie said, her tone commanding.

“Is there a problem?” the man asked.

Sylvia stepped forward, eyes icy.

“Take us to Madam Silina. We have serious business.”

The man stepped back, intimidated by Sylvia’s presence. “O-Okay. Please follow me.”

He led them down a hallway and stopped at a door, knocking gently.

Moments later, Madam Silina opened it. Her expression darkened when she saw the strangers.

“They asked to speak with you privately,” the man mumbled.

Madam Silina inhaled deeply, then forced a smile. “Please, come in.”

Ellie entered first, regal and poised, her heels clicking against the floor. She looked around the room in disgust before lowering herself onto the sofa with elegance.

Sylvia remained by the door, calm but fierce.

Madam Silina felt uneasy.

She sat across from Ellie and smiled politely. “Good morning. How may I help you?”

Ellie flipped her hair and leaned back. “Let’s get to the point. I want to know the girl my husband slept with.”

Madam Silina froze.

Too many married men passed through her doors, how was she supposed to know which one?

“Diego Martinez,” Ellie said firmly.

Madam Silina’s eyes widened in shock.

This woman… she’s Diego’s wife?

And she wanted to meet Lyla?

“To kill her? To ruin her?” she thought in panic.

“I... don’t know what you’re talking about,” she stammered.

Ellie calmly reached into her handbag and pulled out a bundle of cash.

“I’ll double this, five million naira, just tell me her name.”

Madam Silina’s eyes locked onto the money, her tongue tied.

“Ten million,” Ellie said, smiling slyly. “Just her name.”

Madam Silina exhaled.

I’m sorry, Lyla... but this is your fate now.

“She’ll be here shortly,” Silina said softly, reaching for her phone. She dialed.

“Hello? Please come quickly, someone wants to see you. It’s urgent.”

She hung up before Lyla could say a word.

Turning back to Ellie, she smiled tightly. “She’s on her way.”

Ellie smirked.

She was going to meet the girl who had Diego wrapped around her finger.

Meanwhile…

I had just finished cleaning the house and prepared food for the day.

Mom was sleeping peacefully after taking her meds, and I decided to rest for a bit.

I was dozing when my phone buzzed.

I frowned. Madam Silina?

Why was she calling me this early?

Curious, I answered.

“Hello, please come quickly, someone is here to see you! Please hurry.”

Then the line cut.

“What?”

She didn’t even let me respond.

Who could possibly want to see me?

I sighed, dragging my hands through my hair in confusion.

Maybe it was nothing serious. I’d go quickly and be back before Mom even woke up.

I slipped into a plain shirt and jeans, tied my hair into a ponytail, and applied a bit of lip gloss. I slid my feet into my sandals and left the house, waving down a taxi.

But throughout the ride, my heart thudded violently in my chest.

Something feels off…

The taxi stopped. I paid the driver and entered the club, heading for Madam Silina’s room.

With every step, my chest tightened. My legs felt heavy.

Something’s wrong.

I knocked on the door.

“Come in,” Madam Silina called.

I pushed the door open, and froze.

A stranger turned sharply to face me.

I froze.

And then I saw her face.

My blood ran cold. My breath caught.

Ellie.

Her eyes widened just as mine did.

The world seemed to stop.

“You… you’re the one who slept with my husband?” Ellie screamed, her voice cracking with disbelief.

“My own blood sister?!”

My heart stopped.
