Chapter 9 He’s Not Worthy!
"What's going on? Who is that woman?"
"Looks like she's pretty close to Preston. Could it be..."
"No way! Preston loves Sophie so much. How could he cheat?"
Sophie heard the whispers below but kept her composure. She calmly waved her hand and took the microphone. "Just a small accident, but it's fine. Everyone, please continue enjoying yourselves."
Sophie's calm demeanor influenced the crowd, and gradually people stopped gossiping. After Sophie came down from the stage, she immediately received a message from Preston.
[Sophie, don't be mad. Have fun. I'll be back soon.]
Looking at this message, Sophie's lips curved into a cold smile. She immediately made a phone call.
"Where are they?"
The private investigator answered, "I've been following them. Royal Court Hotel, room 1205."
Sophie went to the lounge to change clothes, then quickly left through the back door and headed straight to the Royal Court Hotel.
From the moment Elena sent her that strange message, Sophie felt something was about to happen, so she hired a private investigator to follow Elena.
Turns out her decision was right.
The private investigator brought her to the hotel's surveillance area. "Mrs. Davis, we've already installed cameras in the hotel. Don't worry, we'll definitely get what you want on tape."
Sophie nodded, her eyes calmly fixed on the two people in the surveillance footage.
Completely unaware, the two entered the room and closed the door.
Preston forcefully threw Elena onto the bed. At least he was mindful of the baby in her belly and didn't hurt her.
Sensing his momentary gentleness, Elena secretly rejoiced, knowing he wouldn't harm her. She thought about saying something soft.
The moment she turned her head, the necklace around her neck was violently ripped off.
Preston's face was extremely dark. He threw the necklace to the ground with a snap. "Who gave you permission to wear this in front of her?"
Elena's eyes immediately turned red. She lay on the bed crying pitifully. "I know I was wrong. I'm just upset. I'm carrying your child, so why do I still have to be the one who can't be seen?"
Watching Elena cry, Preston felt no sympathy. His eyes showed only indifference. "Do you remember what you promised me?"
Elena bit her lip and sat up, wrapping her fingers around Preston's neck and nestling her head against his chest. "I remember. I know I was wrong. Please don't be angry, okay?"
But Preston wasn't buying it. He was clearly really angry.
Seeing this, Elena gritted her teeth and suddenly tore the velvet dress off her body, standing naked in front of him.
Preston frowned slightly. "What are you doing?"
Elena knew he could never resist her temptation. She obediently knelt down in front of him, reached out to unbuckle his belt, her voice seductive. "Helping you calm down..."
Sophie couldn't watch the intimate scene that followed.
She suddenly stood up, taking several deep breaths to suppress the nausea rising in her throat.
She bit her lip hard to keep from showing any vulnerability, and said hoarsely to the private investigator, "Send me a copy when you're done recording."
With that, she quickly left the hotel.
When she returned to the banquet hall, she acted as if nothing had happened, greeting guests alone. Preston never showed up again, even after the party ended.
Sophie looked at the cold text on her phone, feeling like a complete joke.
Preston: [Sorry, Sophie, something urgent came up at the company. I can't come back right now.]
Sophie closed the chat and looked at the video the private investigator had sent at the same time. She forwarded it to Matthew.
After the heartbreak, her heart felt empty, yet somehow completely relaxed. After receiving Matthew's reply, she closed her phone and went back to the villa.
Sophie simply packed some clothes. She didn't take anything that wasn't valuable.
She wasn't a saint who would leave empty-handed after being hurt so badly by Preston.
Of course she was going to take this money and live her own life.
After finishing packing, she went to Preston's study and printed out a divorce agreement.
As she picked up a pen to write, she noticed the fountain pen on the desk.
This house was filled with memories of her and Preston. She had made this fountain pen by hand for his birthday.
Back then, she and Preston had just gotten married. Just being in the same space with him made her feel incredibly sweet. But now, looking back, all that sweetness seemed like a joke.
With a scoff, she signed her name on the divorce agreement, then forcefully broke the pen in half and threw it back on the desk.
She had made this with love for her husband. Preston didn't deserve it!
She placed the divorce agreement on the desk and was about to leave when the study door suddenly burst open.
Preston looked at her breathlessly, his eyes filled with confusion, gripping her tightly. "What's with the suitcase downstairs? Where are you going?"
"None of your business."
Sophie didn't want to talk to him and forcefully shook off his hand.
The divorce agreement on the desk was caught by the breeze and floated down to the floor in front of them.
Preston's words caught in his throat when he saw the divorce agreement on the ground.
He looked up at Sophie in disbelief, gripping her hand with great force, his tone filled with towering rage. "What do you mean? You want to divorce me?"
